Double D acres near Mammoth Cave and Bowling Green

Double D Acres is a beautiful home located in Oakland, KY on a 150+ acre farm. It is only two minutes from I-65 south to Bowling Green/Nashville, five minutes from I-65 north to Louisville/Lexington, 10 minutes from the Corvette Museum, and 20 minutes from Mammoth Cave National Park, Nolin Lake, Beech Bend Raceway, and Western Kentucky University. It is centrally located between Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY. We are excited to host travelers from a variety of backgrounds and interests!

The Space

The house has one king-size bed and two queen-size beds. There are two full-size bathrooms and one half bathroom. The kitchen has a pub table and four chairs, and there is a formal dining room with a full-size table and six chairs. The family room opens onto an outside deck with benches. There are games, puzzles, word search books, and coloring books to entertain you, along with magazines, pamphlets, and the SOKY Magazine, which offers a monthly calendar for all the daily/nightly events in Bowling Green and surrounding cities. You will also find a beautiful sitting room where you can enjoy an awesome view of the farm outside the bay window.

Within walking distance of this home, you will find on this farm, a high school regulation-size basketball court, child-sized basketball court with goal, and a pond.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire home with the exception of the basement and the garage.

Interaction with Guests

We live in a separate home next door to the house and will be available at almost any time.

Other Things to Note

While we do not have cable TV, we do have an antenna which provides a variety of channels, including the major networks of ABC, NBC, and CBS. Wifi service is available. There are televisions in the kitchen, family room, and master bedroom.

Beautiful!

My first impression was WOW!! Pictures can be dieciving. The house was more beautiful in real life. This is the best home I have stayed in. Everything was so clean. The house was stocked with so much also. We didn't have to run to Walmart for anything other than food. The beds are sooooo comfortable.

Comfortable home in a lovely farm setting

This property is absolutely wonderful. It’s very roomy, providing space to kick back and relax. All modern conveniences are there for you. Owner is so nice; she let us know where everything was, made us feel welcome with a basket of snacks and cold bottled water in the fridge, yet she respected our privacy and did not bother us while we were there. The children enjoyed playing in the kid-friendly yard. We all loved the beautiful views of surrounding corn fields. Although it’s in a rural setting, the home is within short driving distance of Bowling Green which offers many attractions. We were on a long road trip so only stayed one night, but we will plan to stay longer next time.

We really enjoyed our stay in Kentucky! The house is wonderfully located. Its close to Mammoth Cave NP and Lost River Cave which we enjoyed visiting. Its also close to many more Caves and all the things to do in Bowling Green. We could have spent a week and would not have been bored. The house itself was great. We had more space then we could have needed and we felt right at home. The house was clean and well appointed. The yard is big and the kids enjoyed the play structure. We would highly recommend this place. Thanks!

Great Family Getaway

This home was so nice and immaculately clean! Even better than the pictures. The kitchen is well suited to making a home cooked family meal. The layout is very spacious and very comfortable! Would definitely stay again. My granddaughters 5 and 8 loved walking the property. The owners are so kind and made our stay above average!

Peaceful Stay

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Double D Acres. The house is lovely and so comfortable. It was a peaceful place to come home to each night after a long day out sightseeing. Donna was very responsive when I could not get the door code to work right away, which turned out to be my error in entering the wrong number. HA! But she was very gracious about it. I have told several of my friends to check it out! :-)

Wonderful Home

Donna was extremely easy to work with and made the entire process a breeze. Location of the home is perfect, between Mammoth Caves and Bowling Green. My wife and I also went only 20 minutes away to Rockcastle Shooting Center, where we had a blast shooting sporting clays. Highly recommend this beautiful and clean home, very spacious.

Perfect!

The house was perfect for our four night stay. There was plenty of room for our family of four, and the location was central to our planned activities. The kids enjoyed the yard and playset. Supper place to stay in area

The house was so clean and a great place for our family. Nice spacious and comfortable. The house was well equipped with games and books. The kitchen was really big and easy to cook in. We enjoyed the nice yard too. So many things to do in the area. We spent 2 days at Mammoth Cave and enjoyed the Corvette museum and Chaney’s Dairy Barn

Excellent place to stay in the area. The home was very clean and the owners were as friendly and helpful as they could be. Would definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.

Perfect for families and close to Mammoth Cave!

We loved our stay at the Double D Acres! The house was immaculately clean and the decor had a very nostalgic feel to it. The ranch is very sprawling on the inside with plenty of space available for large families. Our kids absolutely loved the yard and the driveway was perfect for them to ride their scooters. The snack bowl and candy dishes which Donna had laid out were also a big hit! The property is located in a very safe area with only a small drive required to tour Mammoth Cave or to possibly have a nice dinner out in Bowling Green. Our family frequently uses HomeAway and we highly recommend this house.

Great house on the farm

We had a wonderful time. The house is spacious and has a nice deck plus a playground which was a bonus for our toddler. We enjoyed feeding cows and walking around the farm. It’s beautiful!

What a FANTASTIC home!

PERFECT is the best word to use to discribe this home! We are traveling to Florida with 7 kids and 3 adults and this house provided the perfect amount of space for all of us! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable the house is spotless I have never stayed at a Airbnb where they had some snacks and water for us upon our arrival!! They also provided shampoo and conditioner which again I never had that provided at a home before!! They were so accommodating I could go on and on!! The expressway was so close we were able to jump on it and go early in the AM!! I literally could go on and on!! We already booked the home for our return trip and even talked about coming back next year for a long weekend with the kids!! If your looking for the best place to stop and stay or looking for a place to stay for a week look no further!!

Beautiful and well kept home in a relaxing setting

We stayed here for just one night as a stop on a last minute road trip. This house is beautiful, clean and the owners really have paid attention to the details. We hope to come back when we have time to really relax and take in the farm and surrounding community. If you are looking for a rental in this area, you'd be foolish to pass on this house.

I grew up on my father's family farm in Oakland, KY and Darel grew up right down the road. After he retired from professional basketball, we met and started a wonderful life together just a couple of miles away. When my father was ready to retire from farming, Darel and I purchased the majority of the farm and I was so happy to be back home! I am a retired public school teacher and spent 31 years educating and, more importantly, loving the youth in Oakland. We raised our two amazing sons on this farm and our oldest, Jonathan, and his wife, Leigh Anne, now live in the farmhouse where I spent the majority of my childhood. Our youngest, Joshua, and his wife, Brittany, started raising our most perfect grandsons here before being called away to another town for work. Our grandsons, Eli and Isaiah, LOVE coming back to the farm and the look of pure joy on their faces when they arrive is most definitely priceless.

We are so excited to host a variety of people from all different backgrounds who are traveling through the area. We provide a spacious home on a 150+ acre farm with lots of room to wander and play. The sunrises and sunsets here are second to none. We live next door and are always available. We truly want to make your stay on the farm as wonderful as possible.
