This ground-level suite near Uvita is one of five in a building - contact Vacasa if you'd like to rent more than one at the same time! The building is surrounded by lush vegetation and friendly monkey and toucan visitors, and it boasts an open-air design (the bedrooms have AC).

What's nearby:
The beach is about a quarter-mile away via a semi-private path that passes through the property next door (they require the purchase of a drink at their bar for use of the path). Beautiful Playa Ballena and Ballena Marine Park are six miles away and charge a small day-use fee for access to golden beaches, coral reefs, and wildlife viewing. This home is located five miles either way between Uvita and Ojochal.

Great for the money

Cannot complain about much as great value for money BUT could do with more kitchen implements IE plates, cutlery (2 of each) and 1 cereal bowl. Location is about 5 mins from Uvita centre, so you need a car but no big deal. Quiet location even with the main road so close. Would stay again.

Él lugar es tranquilo, cerca de todo, pero alejado del bullicio de los centros poblados. La casa rodeada de naturaleza encantadora, internamente muy cómoda, espaciosa, cada aposento muy agradable. Muchas facilidad en el alquiler, y muy limpio todo. 💯 Recomendado. La playa muy privada, y los atardeceres hermosos Lo único es q la entrada a la playa no era por consumir una bebida, sino x consumir un plato fuerte. Regresaría encantada.

Good Value!

I have stayed here several times. The apartments are spacious and while not perfect, it is good for me. There is highway noise, but it is nice not having to navigate the bad roads to get up the mountain and not in a densely populated neighborhood like in Uvita Central. You would want a car to stay here….

Our fourth stay here

It is a large, quiet place where you sit on the patio and watch monkeys, toucans , agoutis and tons of birds!! Highly recommend!

Great location and space

This was our third stay here and it is everything is there that one would need. Comfortable but could use a refresh. Prepare to have very little hot water for showering but if this is any indication planning to go again.

Honestly if you want to have a peaceful stay this is the place! We loved our stay we were able to see from the patio monkeys, birds and a lot of wildlife, you get the sound of the ocean at night super clear so yeah 100% recommended

Two Weeks in Costa Rica

The property is located in Uvita which is a small quite area. The beach is not that easily accessed. The actually property was less than advertised. There are centipedes galore... I would go on a centipede hunt every night to remove them from the condo... and there were two cockroaches in the condo. There is not a tv, very few cooking utensils, pots, etc and the lack of air conditioning was a problem for the living room. We had all the doors/windows open one day and that night I was eaten by misquotes, at least 30 bites. We couldn’t open the doors/windows again. Door and windows don’t have any screens. To top it off, we had to leave early because of the COVID-19 pandemic and they refused to refund us the one night stay. The property managers were responsive and in a reasonable timeframe. That is the one plus. Would not recommend staying here.

Nuestra estancia fue genial. Es una casa preciosa, tal y como aparece en las fotos, donde estuvimos súper a gusto durante nuestras vacaciones en Costa Rica. Situada a unos 10 minutos en coche de Uvita, justo al lado de la carretera y con zona amplia para aparcar nuestro coche.

Huge apartment where you feel at home

Beautiful architecture and design, with nice garden. Small things need some maintenance. Close to Beautiful Ballena beach, acces through the neighbours restaurant. We come back.

Beautiful location , A lot of cleanliness problems I couldn’t report during my stay due to not being able to be in the area of the home during ideal cleaning times. Didn’t like that people working outside during the day could see inside the home because there were no curtains to cover in some areas of the home

Good Location

Communication with Vacasa was great. Close by restaurants and beaches. Only wish that there would have been a place to hang out wet clothes on the deck. Maybe a clothes line. Thank you for the memories.

Nice accommodations although amenities are sparse. Property beach & pool access should be better described for potential customers. We liked the space, just not the location to the beach (no direct access).

Really nice studio. Loved the finishes and areas tough it is too close to main highway.

The property is really beautiful. Studio itself amazing... loved the floors, view to jungle, loved the bedroom, with the A/C, nice pillows, gorgeous big bathroom. Now, if you are going just know that it is 100 mts from the Costanera Sur, which is one of the main highways of the country, so you will here the big trailers and cars passing through constantly. Couple of details would make it better: wine bottle opener, can opener, smaller spoons, hooks for wet towels or bikinis, and board games which were not available. The internet fails a lot (for us it failed all our stay), so make sure you bring books! A binder with info on the area, restaurants, etc, would be helpful as everything is very distanced apart in the area. The Manager told me they usually have one though in this case there wasn’t one, so it was good we knew the area. Other than that it was pretty nice!

Amazing house

This house was amazing. The value was great, comfortable bed, high end, the shower and bath was beautiful. Angelica was very easy to work with and so kind in helping out with anything needed. This is honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed including hotels over the years from thousands of miles of traveling.

Truly one in a million

Makara is truly one in a million. Such amazing views and incredible luxury you will not find anywhere else. The monkeys came and visited us in the trees outside our balconies. They were so fun to watch. The beach, which is only steps away was magical. It’s private and the water is warmer Han any heated pool I’ve been in. From the kitchen to the bathroom the entire place is exceptional. And thanks to Angelica, we had such a hospitable and comfortable stay. Makara is everything we imagined and so much more! Best bed and breakfast in Costa Rica!

Chad created a little piece of paradise on earth, we enjoyed every single minute in his wonderful and comfortable apartment and on the terrace from which we observed lizards, birds and monkeys.. the shower cabin let you feel like taking the shower right in the jungle - nice!! The location is close to the Main Street - so you can reach many places within a short period of time! We loved to have dinner in the Bamboo Room with live music and a great sun set view only a few minutes to the south (on the left). Pura Vida!

Terrific Place !

Makara Suites was a terrific place to stay near Uvita. All of the staff were very welcoming and attentive, particularly the housekeeper Eliet and the night watchman Marvin. The area is quiet but with lots of food and activity options close by. And the private beach is a dream!
