This rental is located at on of the highest elevations in Illinois and consists of two houses, plus the art studio gathering barn. The two house are called the Caspian house and the octagon house. one house has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and the other six bedrooms and three baths. One has old wood post and beam construction and the other is more mid century. The houses are 100 feet apart, connected by a wide gravel path. Enjoy a game room with pool table, foosball, theater room, table tennis. Both houses are located on one of the highest point in Illinois with breathtaking views. Enjoy gorgeous sunsets. Enjoy the nine hole, par three golf course. Almost 300 acres and miles of hiking trails. Visit the alpacas, goats, ducks, geese, peacocks. Two Fishing ponds with large mouth bass, baseball field, soccer field, sand volleyball court. The octagon house has amazing architecture with post and beam construction built with reclaimed beams and cobblestone from NAVY PIER in chicago. Stone, woddburning fireplaces on all three levels. Large expansive deck, great for cookouts and outdoor dining. Rental also includes a third building ideal for movie nights, large dinners, weddings, social events. In the middle of the two houses and the "art studio" recreation center is a field pit. This rental provides access to the Galena Territory owners club, which is seven minutes door to door. The owners club consists of outdoor and indoor pools, fitness center, gym, business center, horseback riding, pontoon boating, golf, tennis etc. Each rental is provide six passes to the owners club. Each person beyond six is charged $5. On the 300 acres of the Brixen Ivy ranch, there is two fishing ponds, many hiking trails, animals, nine hole golf course, volleyball court. Again, the octagon house has a large hot tub. It faces west (sunsets). The Caspian house has the entertainment center and faces east (sunrises)

Family trip

We had a great stay! Check in was incredibly easy, there was lots of entertainment for the kids ages 3-14, and it was great having access to the Owners Club in the Galena Territory.

Host was extremely welcoming and helpful. Great communication especially when there was internet glitch with the internet provider (so not issue of host). They went above and beyond to make sure we had a place for us to watch/stream the Packers game on Thanksgiving and issue was fixed by Friday morning. Great space in both homes and we loved the event barn. Did dinner in there one night as well as a Paint Your Partner Challenge and watched the Bears on the big screen tv. Beautiful views and the animals were a bonus for the grandkids.

We had a great time at this VRBO. There was plenty to do. The grandkids loved the animals. Rancher Joe was great. Everything was like it was described. The studio between the houses worked out perfect for a gathering place.Thank you Mark, and Ranch hand Joe for the tours.

Beautiful location; spacious accommodations

This was a great location for our family reunion. Plenty of beds/bedrooms and the art studio was perfect for meals when we were all gathered together. At this price point, there should be more attention to detail - for example, we had to ask for toiletries and hair dryers, many lightbulbs were burnt out, boxes lying around, smoke detectors not installed, etc. Please note that the pool is NOT on the property as it implies on the listing. You must drive to the owners' club for the pool. The kids loved the animals. Sunsets were stunning!

Amazing Galena getaway!!! This property has it all on the ranch: soccer, golf, ponds, walking trails, animals, beautiful sunsets, beautiful sunrises, hot tub on the property, access to an amazing pool, and views galore.This was our second stay at the Octagon and Caspien with the studio (22 people). Lots of room for family to spread out, and come together. Big meals together, birthday celebration for our granddaughters, and so much fun and laughter to the wee hours around a campfire. All just a short distance from Galena, IL!!!Mark is great to work with. Very responsive and he really wants all his guests to have the best experience possible!!

Weekend Getaway

This property is perfect for a big group of people. The houses were spacious and there was so much room for the guests we had. The scenery of the ranch was beautiful as we had a bonfire and watched the sun go down. Communication with the owners and the ranch hand was very easy and they were very accommodating. I definitely recommend staying here!

Surprise Birthday Reunion

I hosted a surprise 40th birthday for my husband, our family, and friends at Brixen Ivy Ranch. It was a great location to host a large group. There were lots of things for everyone to do both on the property and nearby. A memorable weekend!

Amazing Property for Wonderful Memories

We love the Octagon and Caspian houses. The fun at this property is UNLIMITED!! Golf, disc golf, soccer, baseball field, hiking trails, fishing ponds, hot tub, animals galore….and the views…breathtaking!! You will not regret your decision to book here. Mark is wonderful to work with. He responded quickly to text messages during our stay!!

Family Reunion

Our family had a wonderful time here. The houses were large enough to accommodate our big family. It was particularly helpful to have the extra building, which we called our art house. The views were lovely. Thank you very much!!!

Work Retreat

We were looking for a nice little getaway for our work group of about 16 people. Our primary goal was to allow everyone their own bedroom and bathroom, which was easily attainable given the amount of space available to us. When we arrived at the ranch, Mark was so hospitable and showed us all around the ranch multiple times as we had people show up at different times throughout the day. The houses we stayed in were clean and well-maintained. The scenery was also incredible, and we would absolutely consider coming back in the future!

Great family get together!

We had a great time in the Octagon house and Caspian house. We also ate meals in the Art Studio. We enjoyed a campfire. We had great catch and release fishing in the pond. We played frisbee golf and then played baseball at the baseball field. We enjoyed seeing all of the animals. The Owner’s club was great for swimming. This a perfect getaway for our family.

Amazing and Expansive Property

These properties are phenomenal. The homes are just as pictured with even more space and thoughtfulness. The grounds are impeccable and include a baseball field, hiking trails, a pond, adorable animals, and frisbee golf. (Actually so much more). The recreation space was a bonus and two amazing fire pits with perfect views of sunrises and sunsets (and even a meteor shower)! What a perfect place for family fun and gathering. You don’t need to leave. Just enjoy and appreciate this memorable and unique property. The property manager and owners were amazing too.

Awesome location and Great for large groups

Both homes and the media craft barn were much bigger and more spacious than I could summize from the posted pictures. I loved the privacy of the location and the trust that was afforded my group. The weather changed quickly so we were not able to take advantage of the very lovely fire pits or the 2 hot tubs because it really seemed a bit more cold than we were used to earlier in the week. We all would be excited to come back again and enjoy more family time, meals and games that were played at the Octagon home. The beds were also very comfy and amazing by the way. It was a GREAT!!

2024 Galena Girls Reunion

This was our first reunion since 2011. There were 24 of us in this group. The property consisted of two houses and the Art studio. The property was awesome and accommodated our group comfortably. Mark and Joe (the propert manager) greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. They were very responssive to any questions we had. The check in and check out was easy and simple. The Art Studio was located between the houses, and was great place to connect. It had everything we needed to host dinner, breakfast, watch tv, and enjoy activities. In front of the art studio was a firepit with sufficient chairs and wood for our stay. The view from this location was simply amazing. We will definitely be returning to this location for our next reunion.

Great place for large gathering

We held our family reunion at the Octagon and Caspian Houses. We used the Octagon House as the primary entertainment venue and the Caspian House for older family members who wanted to get some quiet from time-to-time. Both houses were large and very comfortable. We loved sitting on the porch of the Octagon House watching the sunset. The Art Studio was great for watching movies in large groups and intense games of table tennis. The ranch itself provided some entertainment with the 9 hole milk can golf course, frisbee golf, animals, and hiking trails. The ranch sits about 20 minutes outside of Galena, which is a cute town with lots of shopping and dining options. The owners and ranch hand were very friendly and helpful. All-in-all, it was perfect for our family reunion and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to gather.
