Surround yourself with forest views and classic woodland charm at this Welches cabin, a quintessential Mt. Hood retreat with a shaded porch and a beautiful creekside location close to hiking trails, ski slopes, glacial rivers, and golf courses!

Built in 1927, this single-level cabin sits on a third of an acre near the eastern banks of the Salmon River. You'll be just a few steps from a seasonal fall-to-spring creek, half a mile south of the golf courses at Mt. Hood Oregon Resort, and an easy drive from the mountain's renowned ski slopes: 13 miles to Mt. Hood Skibowl, 20 miles to Timberline Lodge, and 25 miles to Mt. Hood Meadows.

The cabin was cute and cozy and the bed was like a cloud! It was peaceful and the gas fireplace was enough heat. My only complaint was the internet was constantly dropping even though it said it was connected and the signal showed as strong. Even though there was a storm and the lights went out, I felt safe and was able to complete my stay.

Proactive communication about what is working and not working. I booked for the hot tub, but it was broken and not working. That was not shared before we arrived nor was the repair which still didn't get the tub working. The house was cold, and it took a couple of hours to get it up to a warm temperature.

Our time at this cabin was frustrating and uncomfortable. The house was probably 55 degrees when we got there. We tried the switch on the side of the fireplace and the remote, but the remote was dead and we had to take batteries from the tv remote. The instructions they provided did not match the house — there is no physical thermostat. The booklet says there are instructions on how to operate the fireplace remote in the front of the binder, but there aren’t. At this point, we thought we’d turn on the hot tub to warm up and start enjoying our time. But there are also no instructions on how to turn on the hot tub, how long it needs to heat, or anything like that. The display on the hot tub wasn't on, so we called support again.The first support person sent my friend into to find the electrical box (outside in some bushes with a latch that doesn't work) but the hot tub did not connect to that box. The fuse for the hot tub is in the back by the door, but no one was able to direct her there. The second support person told me to check the filter, without further instructions on where to find it or what to look for. I told him I’ve never owned a hot tub or checked a filter, but I’d try. We were working on getting the hot tub going until 8.30 that night. A support person came that night and the next day but the pump was broken. The partial refund totally inadequate due to the fact that we booked this cabin specifically for the hot tub. Don't book with Vacasa if you have the choic

The main reason for booking this cabin ( guarantee amenity) the hot tub was broken, with no prior cumunication of this issue. If i would have know this i would rent a different property. Unfortunately this was our 23rd wedding anniversary and cannot be redone. I had texted vrbo / vacasa as soon we had arrived and noticed the broken hot tub. It was not until the following morning i sent another message to finally have a response back around 2:30pm from someone from vacasa to want to come by and look at it ( heat pump is out ) was the reply. Not only thatvbut the water had a fishy smell to it , not worth even attempting the 40 degree water. Therebare several other issues with this property, the BBQ is on its last leg , a few if the burners take forever to turn on, the back door does not latch at all ( missing the door handle ?) The only thing that stops someone from breaking in is a dollar store quality door security chain a 5 year old could push the door and it would probably break. Also props to the person who took the staged photos of the property because it is a far cry from you will see when you arrive.Agian renter beware, if you have a reservation coming up i would recommend getting a refund a going somewhere else.

If you’re looking for a rustic cabin experience, this is a perfect fit for you. I feel that housekeeping should have dusted away the cobwebs prior to our arrival, but everything else was cozy.

Overall a pleasant stay. Kitchen can use extra attention to cleanliness, especially the sticky cutting board/counter.Both the front and rear door entrances are dangerous to execute. The front entrance is a poor representation of the property (unsafe and dirty). The path to and around the hot tub is also dangerous. The curtains and blinds are weird and poor fitting

Amazing location! The ONLY warning… bring your own pillow and coffee filters. The pillows were rough and there are no coffee filters. Everything else was fantastic!!

Only visit if you like camping

I would say this isn't the worst place I've been to, but you can tell nothing has been renovated or replaced in a LONG TIME. Lots of flimsy furniture, spiders in the bed, no dishwasher, some windows don't have curtains, making night time a little creepy since people can look in. Lots of construction of houses right next to us. The hot tub was nice but no privacy at all. We didn't even use the porch because it was dirty and not very homey. We also had to take the trash to the end of the street but instructions were unclear so it was confusing and stressful. The owner did say we wouldn't get charged for putting it in the wrong place so they were accommodating. But the task itself felt like a chore instead of being able to be on vacation and relax. Also the remote to one of the TV's controlled both TV's, so I couldn't turn on/off one TV without it doing the same to the other TV in the other room... Just a lot of little problems that added up to where we ended up just leaving early. Only go here if you're okay with a house that's falling apart and good being surrounded by a lot of people and houses.

Not terrible but also a lot of issues - The photos looked amazing but once we got there it felt like meeting someone you met online only to find out they didn't look nearly as good as their photos lol. We left early because there were a couple BIG spiders in the bed while we were in it. One of the beds felt like it was about to collapse because the bed frame, and a couple tables had really wonky legs (definitely not a place to put drinks or kick up to relax). Their was very little privacy between all the neighbors and curtains missing on some windows, making it pretty creepy at night. The hot tub was good but again, no privacy there. We also had to take out the trash up the road but instructions were unclear so even after all that work they never collected the trash the next day. No dishwasher so you better be good at washing dishes by hand. Again, not the worst place but it's definitely falling apart and shouldn't be used as a vacation rental at this point.

Nice place

This was a good location for outdoor adventures around Mt. Hood. The cabin itself was cozy. We were here in July and the mornings were chilly (lows in high 40s, low 50s) but the fireplace warmed the cabin up quickly. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nicer than anticipated for a cabin. The cabin overall was very clean. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because there is a chair in the smaller bedroom that smells like BO. It either needs washed or replaced. You may want to bring your own coffee grounds. There was instant coffee available in the cabin, which was surprisingly not bad and there is a local coffee shop close by that has an awesome bagel sandwich! We ended up getting propane to use the fire table, which was very nice. To be fair; we took that upon ourselves thinking we would need to wait for Vacasa to have someone come out to bring propane and we didn’t want to wait. The WiFi was spotty, which was kind of annoying, but you are in a cabin in the woods. So, take that for what it’s worth! Overall, good experience.

Great cabin for family get together

I booked this cabin to “get away from it all“ and it was perfect. The great outdoors plus modern amenities. I had the peace and quiet of the luscious forest and time to catch up on my podcasts and audiobooks. Highly recommend it.

Tiny, cozy and perfect

In a small cluster of homes. Neighbors are quiet. Woods setting is lovely and a very short drive to Salmon River trailhead. Beds need upgrading but otherwise very unpretentious and cozy.

Hot tub didn’t work, lack of service

In general, this is a fine stay for a rustic cabin and would have been worth our money if the hot tub worked.The hot tub not working wasn’t the most disappointing, though: it was the lack of service from vacasa about the nonfunctioning amenity that we chose this cabin for. We immediately tried to use the hot tub when we arrived Friday night, and immediately let the host know that it wasn’t working. They said they would send someone over and then never followed up. Even the next day—crickets from the host. We had to reach out again and STILL no one was sent to look at the hot tub. I wouldn’t book with this company for the lack of service.

Cute Cabin - Non-Working Hot Tub

The cabin was cute, was able to check in early and pay for late checkout. Cabin is centrally located. Very disappointed with the hot tub situation. It was broken, and come to find out from the repair person, that the owners/management knew it was broken yet, didn’t mention anything to us, renters, in advance. The sole reason we rented this place (and paid quite a bit more for it) was because of the hot tub. When asked for a partial refund, Vacasa and VRBO ghosted us. Also, when asked during our stay, VRBO stated that they never advertised or mentioned that the property had a wood fireplace. Take a look at the property photos (which they may have taken down at this point) and tell us it doesn’t look like the cabin has a working wood stove/fireplace. Without the hot tub and wood stove, the cabin experience we were looking for fell very, very short. I would not book this place in the future.

It was alright

While we did not have a bad stay there were some questionable points along the way. We found food scraps discarded by the front door as well as outside by the porch. There were multiple spiderwebs that were in clear sight that had not been cleaned up all through the house. There was mold growing in the shower around the tub. The BBQ was not in working conditions. We found many dishes that were not cleaned fully and had residue or grease on them. We also found plastic wrap on the windows and saw that the window sills were not cleaned often. The exterior was in need of some landscaping and repair. The pictures are quite outdated and made the place seem cleaner than we felt it truly was. The hot tub was nice and had no issues there and the fireplace inside was very nice for heating up the house. Overall a very lack luster experience.

Quaint cabin

We really enjoyed coming home to the hot tub after long days of hiking. The kitchen was fully equipped so we didn’t have to eat out every meal. Plenty of toiletries also. We really liked this place.. very quaint and quiet. Highly recommend 😊
