If your dream Northwoods vacation includes an immaculate home, a level walk to 300' of frontage, a huge private pier, ripple sand beneath your toes and a quiet, 180-acre full recreation lake, then consider spending your vacation on Tambling Lake in Eagle River. The lake is private; you will probably experience moments (or hours or sometimes DAYS) when you will have the lake all to yourself. Fishermen will not be disappointed as bass, pike and panfish abound! Grill lunch and dinner and savor your meal on your private pier. Perhaps you will spot an eagle, otter or loon "dining" while you eat! After lunch, take the provided kayak, paddleboat, canoe or rowboat out for a spin. An 18' Bennington pontoon boat is also available for $550/week plus gas. A sunset pontoon cruise is the perfect way to end a fun-filled day in the Northwoods. Follow your cruise with smores around the fire pit. Sleep deeply, wake and repeat!! Families and friends will appreciate the chance to unplug and reconnect with one another. Watch a movie, play a board game, complete a puzzle and relax, relax, relax! Eagle River's famed chain of lakes is less than a 3 minute drive. Back roads are perfect for bike rides, atvs, or a leisurely jog. Participate in local festivals, flea markets, farmer's markets or just do some souvenir-shopping in Eagle River. Bring your beach towels. Everything else you will need is provided for you. A washer and dryer in the cabin are provided for your convenience. Call today to reserve your week of quiet bliss at Gabe's Getaway! Saturday-Saturday rentals only June 1-August 31. This property is privately owned AND managed. All communication, prior and during your stay, is directly with Sally, Joe or Gabe. We want your needs taken care of immediately so we have chosen to manage our property ourselves. No property manager means no extra fees for our guests! We look forward to meeting you!!

What a fabulous stay at the cabin on Tambling Lake! It was exactly what we needed to wrap up summerā€”a wonderful balance of relaxation and adventure. Our days were filled with fishing (we lost count at 43 fish, including a 21.5" bass!), boating, paddle boating, a little swimming, and evenings around the campfire. We enjoyed plenty of delicious home-cooked mealsā€”some in the cozy kitchen, others on the grill or over the fireā€”and we also loved venturing into town. The Nutty Squirrel, Chubbyā€™s, and Toad in the Hole quickly became our favorite stops.One of the highlights was having our adult kids join us at different times during the week, and with extended family staying in a nearby cabin, we were able to spend wonderful days together on the water. It made the whole trip feel extra special.Sally and Joe went above and beyond as hostsā€”the cabin was spotless, welcoming, and felt like home from the moment we walked in. They offered thoughtful tips about local happenings and were quick to answer questions or lend a hand. Weā€™ve stayed at a few other cabins over the years, but none compare to this one.The only thing we missedā€”but was mainly more of a ā€œwantā€ā€”was WiFi, since cell service was spotty and it was hard to get in touch with family that was staying nearby- In the end, though, that just added to the peaceful escape. We canā€™t thank you enough, Joe and Sally, for creating such a wonderful place. We will definitely be back!

We had a great week. Thanks to Sally and Joe for their thoughtfulness on creating an excellent property. It was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The dock was huge and the pontoon boat made the lake experience incredible. Fishing was great. I would recommend this property very highly. Can't wait to do it again.

Family Week! July 19-26 2025

It was very clean, accommodating, and a total fun experience! The hosts were so good to us , we felt like long lost friends. The lake water was clear and had beautiful sand. The pontoon was spotless and added great times with the family and fun fishing. The paddle boat peddled so easy us old folks made it around the lake! We thank them for a awesome week,

We really enjoyed our stay at Gabe's Getaway! Sally and Joe were awesome hosts, very responsive and gave us some great tips on the happenings for the week in the area and just overall very welcoming. The property was very well kept and clean. Everything was laid out very nicely and had lots of room for lawn games and stretching out. We really liked our daily visits from a doe and two fawns. Loved the pontoon boat for fishing and lake cruises, and the pier was great for enjoying sunsets or just enjoying the view. Hope to come back again!

Autumn stay

We had a great time. The lake is gorgeous, clear with a sandy bottom. Cottage was well appointed and decorated so cute. Sally and Joe were wonderful hosts, very generous and easy to communicate with.

Retreat Into Nature

We enjoyed the comfort and spaciousness of the cabin. The lake is peaceful and we really enjoyed sitting on the dock, having coffee in the morning and watching the sunsets in the evenings. The loons, ducks and eagles came by to greet us every day. We loved all of the trees on the property and were thrilled when the deer came. Fishing off the dock, using the paddle boat and kayak added to our enjoyment.

Awesome property. Awesome hosts. Great fishing.

Thereā€™s a reason this is a five star stay in the Northwoods. We rent a place every year, and my adult children expressed that overall this was the best property that weā€™ve ever stayed at thus far. Great hosts. Great fishing and an awesome dock set up for swimming and enjoying the waterā€¦ eagles, loons, deer and a private lake with abundant bass and northern. A great Northwoods getaway! 5 ā­ļø

EAGLE RIVER CABIN

The cabin, property, pontoon boat, firepit and lake were great. We had a very nice stay. The only issue was the ATT service in the area. We had no service at the cabin, the hotspot did not work, the tv only had 5 channels and there was no wifi. If you have Verizon you will be OK. I definitely would return if they provided wifi.

Family getaway

We stayed at Gabeā€™s Getaway with my parents, sister and her family. It was an awesome week of relaxation in the north woods. The cabin has all the amenities one needs for a week away. The hosts are so kind and responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed the pontoon boat and cruising around the lake. Located conveniently close to downtown Eagle River. Would recommend!

Memorial Day weekend

The property was beautiful! The communication with property owners were wonderful. We enjoyed our weekend on the pontoon. This vacation was exactly what we needed to recharge our batteries!

Fantastic Getaway

We stayed up here for my brother's bachelor party and had such a fun and relaxing time. Gabe checked us in and was very welcoming and friendly. Pontoon was a fun addition to the weekend and the fishing was plentiful! Will definitely be looking to stay again soon!

Fantastic Stay!

We loved our stay at Gabeā€™s Getaway. Property is very clean and perfectly situated close to Eagle River but with plenty of peace and quiet. Owners are so accommodating and communicative. We would rent here again in a heartbeat. Lake is absolutely beautiful- it was too cold for swimming (October) but itā€™s perfect if you come in the summer. Sandy bottom, steps for easy access to the lake, plenty of water toys, and with the shallow water itā€™s perfect for families with kids.

Beautiful woodsy location

The property is so pretty, surrounded by trees, and the pier is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the lake. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking dinner, and the beds are very comfortable. Our only wish would have been to watch some television late-night, but there was absolutely no t.v. reception.

Tambling Lake Cabin

We enjoyed our stay at the Tambling Lake cabin. It was so nice to get away and relax for a few days. The cellular (and tv antenna) reception was very spotty so it limited us to our electronics, which was what we needed anyway. Dinner and sunsets on the dock was wonderful. The pontoon rental was such a bonus! We took advantage of it and fished around the lake as much as we could.

Labor Day Weekend Getaway

Sally and Joe went above and beyond with their hospitality, communication and friendliness. We left saying this was one of our favorite places we have ever visited. The house was extremly clean and equipped with everything you need. We also rented the pontoon boat at a very reasonable cost and had a great time fishing, swimming in the clean sand bottom lake and star gazing. We are couting down the days until we can visit again!

Our family had a wonderful time at this cabin on a peaceful lake. The kids had a great time catching fish. We were able to enjoy using the pontoon, kayak and paddle boats. Wonderful hosts who take very good care of their property and guests!

Enjoyable Lake Experience

We had a wonderful time during our 2-week stay here. My sister and brother-in-law joined us for a few days and all of us especially enjoyed sitting at the table on the dock with our morning and evening beverages. Spent a lot of time on the lake fishing and relaxing. The pontoon boat was great! Sally & Joe were terrific hosts!

Great Stay!

We really enjoyed our stay......the location was quiet even on a busy holiday weekend, but was close to town. The cabin had a northwoods feel, was comfortable and met all our needs......the pier was a really nice surprise; nice stairs to the sandy bottom to cool off and for our daughter to play in. We also took advantage of the pontoon rental.....which worked out really well. Joe and Sally were great, and overall we had a really good stay!

WONDERFUL HOME!

Gabe's Getaway is a a wonderful cabin. It is our 2nd time staying at the cabin and we really enjoyed it. The fishing is very good and the lake is so clear! Joe and Sally are great to work with and are incredibly nice people. We had fun fishing, cruising around the lake, and having several campfires. We will definitely return!

Our family has vacationed in the Eagle River area for 30 years! We love the pace, the privacy and the peace of the northwoods. We can give you tips on where to find the best burgers, breakfast or bloody marys, or where to take the most scenic drive! Our family lives in Eagle River so we are close by (but not too close!) if you need anything during your stay.

We chose this cabin because it is surrounded by hardwoods and pines yet is close to the water. There are no steps, so all ages can enjoy both the home and the lake. 3 acres and 300 feet of frontage add to its secluded feel. The cabin is super cozy and clean!

Tambling Lake is private, so on some days you might have the lake to yourself. Rent the beautiful Bennington pontoon for maximum enjoyment on the water. Fishing is great because there is very little pressure. Eagle River's chain of lakes is close by and downtown Eagle River is a 5-minute drive. Convenient to groceries, post office, library, souvenirs, movie theater.
