Not Impressed

Black mold on all of the vents, it actually falls from the ceiling in the master bedroom bathroom. The lower deck railings are so bad they are not even attached, extremely dangerous. The outside shower lower handle is rusted and broken very sharp. We all felt sick though out the week and the mold was everywhere. Would not recommend this house, not been maintained. Broken screen doors It only takes a little bit to make a stay a little easier, not one hand pump soap, no sponge or dish soap to clean your dishes. No garbage bag, you need to bring everything.

Sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the property, Emma. The property manager came out immediately following your complaint. All our property decks are inspected and this deck had passed inspection so we were not aware of any issues. It was the deck railing far out on the beach walk. Our maintenance department came out to address the issue on the Monday of your stay but your party wouldn’t allow him to repair anything and you, or another guest, insisted he return after your departure. What you saw on vents was an accumulation of dust caused by condensation on vents from leaving doors open. Humidity and AC causes condensation on vents which then catches dust in the air creating buildup on vents. The guests after your stay left a review that said “Wonderful house with a great view of the ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything we needed.” We hope you continue to visit and enjoy the OBX in the future.

Nice size house for a big family but needs some love.

The house was a nice size for a large family. Plenty of room to spread out. The house was not clean when we arrived. The toilets had gross growth along the water line in 2 bathrooms. Overall it looked like it had not had a good cleaning in a while. Normally there are starter packs for dish soap, dishwasher soap, towels in kitchen. There was none of that. No soap in bathrooms either. Again, normally there are spices, like salt and pepper to use but we had to purchase that too. We left our dish soap etc for the next guest. Hopefully that helped on there first day. There was no working ceiling light in the kitchen. We contacted the management company. They said it had been approved by owners but no date or fixture had been scheduled for installation. The kitchen was very dark at night when preparing meals. Management said to use the microwave light & island light. It was insufficient. There was a hole in the ceiling in the master bedroom. Workers had to come at 2 separate times to assess it. They finally screwed a piece of unfinished drywall on it to close the whole. The couches and furniture, with the exception of a whisker style chair, was all very uncomfortable & worn out. The sliding door on the top floor by the round table was not working properly. It was very difficult to open and especially to close. The shower underneath the deck was disgusting. The beach shower leaked like crazy and the foot faucet has a very rusted broken off handle that was almost impossible to use.

Good location

We enjoyed our experience for the location and size of the house. There were several decks to enjoy the beautiful views and after a few days you get used to all the stairs you have to maneuver. The rooms are spacious and beds are quite comfortable. It was very nice to have a freestanding ice maker, also. The only downside was some trash was left behind from previous tenants and the floors were not very clean.

Perfect location but AC didn’t work

We stayed at Week Away for a week in June. It was great being right on the beach. However, the AC for the main floor of the house did not work. The thermostat said 81 degrees when we checked in and ranged from 79-84 degrees throughout the week. Everyone in our group was miserable. I am 8 months pregnant and we had five small kids with us so no one had fun ! It took 5-6 calls to maintenance saturday- monday before someone came out. The solution was a window AC for the large living area which barely made a dent in the heat. The electrician came out and said it was a known issue, they are called out frequently, the homeowner is aware the unit needs replaced but will not do it. When I called Resort Realty back to tell them people from our group would be leaving due to the heat inside the house they said the homeowner agreed to replace the AC and it would be done the next day (tuesday). The AC Was never replaced and there was no further communication. It sucks it ruined a large family vacation that we spent a lot of money on and traveled quite far ! I did receive a small refund ($350 of the almost $7000) after I complained after the trip was over but it didn’t compensate for the lost memories and fun. I would not recommend renting this house in the summer unless you bring several of your own window AC. Otherwise , the house was OK, in decent shape but could use a lot of updates and minor repairs (sliding doors to outside get stuck a lot , loose nails on deck). beach area was nice but did get crowded a few days so had to get out there early !

Amazing stay

We stayed here with our young kids and some family and we had a great time. The kitchen and wet bar is stocked with everything you need. The beds were comfy - having multiple masters was a huge bonus. There was plenty of space and seating and we never felt cramped. There were tons of board games and puzzle to keep us entertained on rainy days. The access to the beach was amazing. My husband loved the close proximity of the fishing pier. There were so many good restaurants so close by. We loved the location and the ease it was to get to anywhere we wanted to go. And the hot tub was a HUGE plus - we used to everyday!

November Weekaway

Location great. View beautiful. Spacious home. However, home was not clean. Mice droppings found on beds. Housekeeping was not timely about providing new linens. Somewhat disappointed.
