As emailed to you, the Bahamian guest before you decided that the iron belonged to them and took it from the rental. When you advised after 9pm the first night that is had been stolen, we arranged to have an iron dropped to you by 8am the very next morning and sent you a picture of the iron delivered. You were without an iron only the first night as no shop is open nor is anyone working on Eleuthera to deliver irons after standard business hours. The removal of trash is listed in the house rules on site that is agreed to by booking the rental. It is the same rule as many of the houses in the area. If you were unable or unwilling to remove the garbage, you should have chosen not to book the cottage and book a rental in Hatchet Bay or James Cistern instead with government provided garbage collection services. To agree to the house rules when booking and then to complain about the rules is disingenuous. Also as a Bahamian, you are aware that the roads are a nationwide problem, even in Nassau, with potholes, ditches, repairs, etc. Road repairs in Nassau alone can take more than a year as fully experienced by the never-ending months on Village Road repairs. Maybe, the next politicians voted into office in the Bahamas will put infrastructure across the entire nation as the priority as that is something no home owner can control.

Kevin…..as stated to you privately the first day when you wrote and said the tub spout came out in your hand I asked you if you wanted us to come repair it and you refused the repair until you left. You then wrote the next day complaining about the lovely lady upstairs and her very friendly dog Mango who has been there now going into her third year. I advised that this was an unusual complaint as none of our many many guests in this house had ever complained about this noise. You asked if I could move you which I was prepared to do but all of our other rentals were booked. So all I could do was apologize for the trouble and write the lady to advise of the problem so she could be more conscientious of any noise when she was home. I heard nothing more until this morning on you checking out and you started with a list of small trivial things that could have been addressed immediately and told me you were leaving a 3 star review because of this. Well…..we have been doing this long enough to know when you couldn’t get moved you decided to find anything to complain about and do a dump review. This morning the maintenance guy replaced the batteries, reset the dvd player and fixed the tub spout all in less than thirty minutes of time. Nothing big, nothing to complain about and nothing to post a bad review. The cottage is beautiful and just recently renovated. Beautiful street, private entrance and private porch. I advised you that the five star reviews said what needed to be said. So 50+ excellent ones & 1 bad one shows just who has issues. We can’t please everyone. We try very hard to fix, repair, advise or help all of our guests and the reviews on all of our houses show that. Just like you hope it’s a 1 off experience so do we. Guests like you are one in every hundred and we realize that we just can’t please everyone as their expectations are beyond what the house expectations can be. When you read our correspondence it was all good until I couldn’t relocate you. Then you got nasty. Bottom line was you didn’t get what you wanted and therefore took that out on me and this home. I will let the other 55 reviews on vrbo speak for itself. Best wishes on your forward rentals.

Hi Mike, I would like to address some of your cons in the best way I can and apologize as some of these items could have been resolved while you were there had I known. 1) Internet. The local service provider BTC has been promising an upgrade for over a year. During this holiday season it has been up and down constantly with us having called the provider nearly everyday. It is a common problem in Eleuthera on the whole island and most vacationers are there on vacation and use Internet sporadically as needed. We find the only way around this is to offer a hot spot where the signal stays pretty constant. Had you advised that the Internet was needed I could have provided a hot spot. Anytime you were out and had wifi connection you could have written me. 2) Ants are also a common problem during winter months. We spray our yard once every three months and use ant traps inside. We advise guests in all of our rental cottages to not leave food out or sugary items as it will attract them. Eleuthera is a very bushy island and unfortunately is like living in a country side not city so creatures are a part of that. 3) BBQ grill. We have a replacement grill at our house. You bumped my husband several times and you never mentioned the grill. We could have easily brought over the other one. We will replace the grill for our new guests now. 4) Field mice NOT rats! Eleuthera has another common feature due to the bushes and that's field mice. Winter attracts them to warmer areas like the underneath of our houses. As I had told you after you complained you heard something we investigated and found they had chewed the insulation from around the plumbing pipes. We cleared the area, baited traps and did have success catching a number of them. Problem is we really needed to put poison down but had we done that and they died in the wall it would have then been an unbearable smell. The only solution is time to keep baiting, keep catching and blocking areas where they can come in. This is a brand new problem that occurred while you were here as you can see from my recent reviews there were no problems. We are diligently working to resolve this but they are absolutely not in the house and can not get in the house. We are very sorry about this but we did all we could do while you were there and will continue to fix the problem. It's called nature and bush and this is just part of what comes along with visiting Eleuthera. Take care.
