Quiet comfortable getaway located on the best kept secret of North Florida, beautiful George's Lake...just 46 miles south of Downtown Jacksonville, 50 miles west of St Augustine, 35 miles east of Gainesville and only 74 miles northwest of Daytona Beach. This lovely 2 bedroom / 2 bath single family home allows you to enjoy the picturesque views of the lake; sunrise, sunset, wildlife and everything else nature can offer you. Bring your boat, jetski, kayak, canoe, or just your blow up float and soak up the lake life. Don't forget your poles and plenty of bait for our renowned fishing. Load your family up and getaway to George's Lake. Relax with all of the comforts of home, but none of the stress or worries.

Located in Between Two-State Forests

George's Lake is located in northern Putnam County, conveniently situated between two lush state forests: Belmore State Forest and Etoniah Creek State Forest.

Swimming, Fishing, Boating, and More

George's Lake is known for its clear water and sandy bottom.
Visitors and residents enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing all less than 50 miles from Jacksonville. Some of the more popular fish caught in George's Lake are largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, and catfish.

George’s Lake Public Boat Ramp is easily accessible for those who need to drop their boat in the lake.

Fun at the State Parks

Belmore State Forest is a great place to enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Hunting and fishing are both permitted during specific times of the year. Wildlife is abundant in Belmore, and visitors might see wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, hawks, and songbirds if they are lucky. There are even a few threatened species that call Belmore their home. The gopher tortoise, Sherman’s fox squirrel, Florida black bear, American alligator, and the eastern indigo snake can also be found on a lucky day.
Etoniah Creek State Forest is just as fun. The forest spans 8,879 acres of land, and this forest offers many of the same recreational opportunities as Belmore. Etoniah Creek has three hiking trails available.

George's Lake is just a short drive to the vibrant cities of Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala, St Augustine and Daytona Beach. There are museums, zoos, a planetarium, and more state parks to fill your schedule."

This stay was our seventh since 2020.As I have said in prior reviews, I grew up in Jacksonville. I am very familiar with this area. If you are looking for an excellent North Florida lake experience, you search is over.This is an excellent place to stay. BTW, we don't think the photos do it justice, as beautiful as they are.

Peaceful Lakefront Gem

We’ve stayed at this lake house twice now, and we absolutely love it! Easy check in and out! The owner is very nice and extremely helpful! The place is well kept and clean. We couldn’t ask for anything more! Lots of fun on the lake, swimmimg, fishing, kayaking and tubing. We stayed with our children and grandchildren. We had a wonderful time and we will definitely book again.

It was great stay and had everything we needed. We were there for work so we didn’t get to enjoy the lake but overall great experience. Only concern we had was being able to lower the AC, it was just really warm at night overall great.

Lake house heaven

This place as perfect! Easy check in and out! Beautiful Property inside and out! Peaceful and Relaxing! The grands swam and fished from the dock! We brought our boat and went tubing on the lake! They also did some kayaking while we were there! A perfect lake for them to fish,swim and play!! Very little boat traffic! The owner was very helpful and contacted us after check n to make sure all was well! Just book it you won’t have any regrets!! I definitely plan on booking it again!

Awesome getaway!

2nd time staying here and already booked a return trip next summer! We absolutely love the home. Clean, nicely decorated, great screened porch overlooking the lake and a porch swing. Nice deck for grilling. Awesome dock for fishing, laying out, or swimming. Plenty of room for a boat. Denny is easy to contact and a great host. Quiet area, not a ton of boat or jet ski traffic on the lake. It’s simply a great place for a quiet vacation. We love it.

Wonderful Getaway

Another fantastic stay at this property on George’s Lake! It’s quiet, secluded, and a great place to relax and unwind. We enjoyed walks to the lake, campfires, board games, and family time. The lake house has everything you need and a fantastic host/owner. We will definitely be back in the future!

Great place to relax

We had a great stay! The property was as advertised. It was clean and we had everything we needed. We kayaked on the lake and hiked some of the nearby trails. Most of the time we just relaxed on the screen porch or dock. It was just what we needed!

Great family waterskiing vacation

Sizable lake with very little traffic. Beautiful sunrises. Great accommodations and the host was fantastic. Kitchen had everything you needed and then some. Added bonus: a neighbor on the lake told us that Kroger delivers to this location. Will definitely do that in the future.

Lake life Getaway

Everything about our stay was great! We especially loved the screen porch and the porch swing. We played hard on the beautiful lake and were amazed at the lack of boat traffic! The house was so nice - we felt at home in every room. Thanks for sharing your lake place!

Nice lake getaway

We loved the place and had a great time! The home was clean, nice, and spacious for a 2BR place. Great screened back porch, deck area for grilling, and a nice dock. It exceeded our expectations. The owners communicated quickly and were great to deal with. I would definitely return.

Relaxing getaway

Clean, relaxing environment. Access to a boat dock for relaxation and fishing. We enjoyed listening to the waterfall in the koi pond while sitting on the covered lanai.

Could have been better

Overall, we were able to enjoy the peaceful setting and unwind which was the goal. However, the property needs some work to meet minimum expectations for a property at this price point. -the kitchen oven, cupboards, flooring, microwave, dishwasher were all filthy. Food particles were found on dishes, roaches were found along baseboards and in the cupboards over the microwave. This was supposed to be the ventilation we think but it is in need of repairs as it isn't venting anything. Sheets were dirty with hair and smelled of perfume in the middle of the pillows. Although the owner had a cleaning person come, she said the perfume we smelled on the pillows was fabric softener. Then she didn't even take the pillow cases off for us to put newly washed sheets on. She also stated the cupboards needed paint. We wiped them down ourselves and removed the food. The koi pond and dock were nice enough. There isn't a lack of remote controls and the overall upkeep on the property needs to be addressed. We ended up not using the grill even after replacing the exploding battery in the ignitor only to find there was no propane left in the tank. Again, at this price, my expectations were not met. I appreciate the owners communication and attempt to fix things but in the end, I don't want to arrive at my vacation to wait on things to be corrected. It should just be ready to go.

George's Lake Getaway

Our family had an amazing time during our stay. Denny and Angieis an excellent host with an absolutely beautiful retreat. Anything you think you may need is more then likely already there. We enjoyed the majority of our time outside on the dock or on the back porch. Even when it rained we got treated to the most stunning double rainbon.I couldn't have ask for a more perfect anniversary weekend with my family.

Great spring break getaway!

We loved this house. Great floorplan, beautiful screened porch plus deck. My kids loved the back yard, both for the goldfish pond and for playing hide and seek. We spent lots of time fishing from the dock, unfortunately it was too cold/rainy to swim. We also enjoyed s'mores around the fire pit. The kitchen is very well-stocked. The internet worked great, and the house is easy to get to. You will have a great time!

I was looking for the impossible, far enough out to be remote but close enough to get anything I need within 30 minutes, waterfront, boat, dock, fishing, freshwater, peace and quiet. When I saw it, I knew this was my home. It has been my primary residence until July 2019, when we scheduled our wedding and figured out TN would now be home. So many fun memories and experiences here made it impossible to sell, so instead I want to share it with others so they too can experience the wonders of George’s Lake!
