Cozy Up North cabin on beautiful Lake Waukenabo

Come out and enjoy some peace and quiet and get away from it all! Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets on beautiful Lake Waukenabo! We're located two hours north of the twin cities in the beautiful lakes and woods area of Palisade, Mn. The town of Palisade is an 8 mile drive away where you can find gas stations for fueling up ATV's, a couple of restaurants/bars for a bite to eat or a drink, a city park for the kids to play or picnic, and a church to attend a service. The resort itself has two docks for you to throw out a line or dock your boat. We also offer free use of a 14ā€™ Lund fishing row boat, life vests, kayaks, canoes, and a paddle boat for some recreational fun. Lake Waukenabo is connected to tiny West Lake by boat and if you're feeling adventurous you can kayak or canoe through a channel to Sitas Lake. You can fish for Northern pike, walleye, perch, crappie, sunfish, bluegill, or bass and we have a screened in fish cleaning house for your catch of the day. We have a playground, sandbox, and tree house for the kids. Many families like to bring their bikes to take a stroll along the lake. There is a private fire pit with a removable food grate or a gas grill for your use. We have firewood available so you can sit by the fire and enjoy a quiet evening on the lake! Feel free to bring the ATV's as we're near thousands of acres of state forest and ATV trails. The closest bigger town is Grand Rapids and it's a 35 minute drive north. We do not have a swimming beach, but many kids just swim off the docks. If you want a swimming beach, round lake has one down the road. Your cabin (The Knotty Pine) has been newly remodeled with all new pine tongue and groove interior, custom kitchen cabinets and counter tops, new fixtures, new windows, new bathroom, new furnishings, ice cold AC, and new everything for that comforting "Up North" feel. The cabin has two separate bedrooms with a bathroom in between. Towels are provided. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other a full. The living room has a sleeper sofa and a recliner. We have Dish Network for TV and free fiber optic powered Wi-Fi. Our family has been in the resort hospitality business since 1958 and we take great pride in the services we provide. We love the resort and we're sure you will too!šŸŒ²

Perfect family getaway

Host was so accommodating and wonderful! This place has it all for a family! We were able to go boating (let us use a trolling motor), kayaking, paddle boating, all included! Our kids, ages 13 and 11 had a blast and already asking to go back! Very quiet and relaxing too!

This was one of the nicest cabins we have stayed in. The hosts were very helpful if needed. Fishing was also good for some and relaxation for us others!

Perfect lake cabin

This was the perfect place for rest and relaxation! David and Arlene are a delight to deal with and so welcoming. The cabin is perfect, the lake is beautiful and the ability to use the kayaks the Lund boat etc was so nice! I definitely recommend this place for a great getaway in nature!

Very nice cabin

It is a great cabin near our family that lives up there. It is a very comfortable cabin. The only thing that would have been nicer is the hot water lasting for more than one shower at a time. The shower is rather small. It is a great place to come and stay.

A very nice Minnesota lake experience

Stayed for 4 nights and had a very good time with family. All comments and previous reviews are accurate- clean, comfortable cabin, grill, fire pit(with wood), kayaks, fishing boat, fish cleaning house.. Recommend.

Nice lake good fishing kayaking.

Nice cabin, nicely furnished. Satlite TV and good internet connections. Lake is a good size not too big but not small. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing in boat provided, camp fire (wood provided). Nice to get away for a few days. Host is great very nice and accommodating!

A Perfect Place!

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is so beautifully done - the remodel is gorgeous! The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The lake was wonderful and having access to the kayak and paddle boat was great fun. Very generous hosts in providing firewood for the evening and the supplies for smores! We will be back.

Peaceful getaway

Great little cabin with plenty of room for our family of 5. All the comforts you could ask for. Lots of sunnies fishing off the dock. My sons all used the kayaks available, and we took out the fishing boat twice. Beautiful views of the lake all day long from the dock, the deck, and inside the cabin. Short drive to any of the nearby towns to explore. Owners only a cabin away and extremely kind and helpful. We had a wonderful stay!

"Old Guys" Annual Fall Fishing

Absolutely GREAT! A bit windy but the fish didn't mind! Our cabin was very comfy and supplied with all the necessary utensils, bedding, comforters, nice counch, padded dining chairs, etc, etc. etc. Arlene, our host just let us do our thing. Priced right for seniors likie us. Easy in and out access for the boat and truck. Fish cleaning shack came in very handy. Love this place.

Windy Days

We had a great time as usual! The wind didn't stop us but it sure made it tough navigating the Mississippi and nearby lakes. The fishing was great with lots of sunfish, walleyes and SMALLMOUTH BASS! The cabin couldn't have been better. Late night card playing and tipping a few nightcaps in comfort was just what these two "Old Guys" needed. Thanks and see ya next year!

Cute little cabin and great views! Just not enough hot water to take a shower and there were 6 of us staying there so that wasn't great. Mattresses were hard and very uncomfortable. Other than that, the cabin was a cozy place in the middle of nowhere!

We've primarily only made the cabins available for seasonal rentals, but we want others to enjoy the lake life too! We're very family friendly, as we're raising the next owners of DJ's family resort. We love the lake life and we're sure you will too!
