Great view, great location

2 mins to Harris Teeter, golf, 1 min walk to waves. Great views. Will def be back.

Top Notch Stay and Owner!

The house is a magnificent find in the area! It is within walking distance to the beach, takeout food and a grocery store. The owner is absolutely fantastic with communication and went above and beyond in making sure our stay was enjoyable. As mentioned in other reviews, there are many amenities provided (charcoal grill, beach chairs, beach toys, hammock, dishwasher, etc.) to help make the guests feel right at home. I prefer charcoal grills over gas so don't understand the other reviewer's complaint about needing to upgrade to gas when everything else about the house was so remarkable. I guess maybe in the future someone may have a problem with there not being a pool available as well even though the beach is a 1 minute walk away - 20 seconds if you run fast! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful at night. The house is very clean and well maintained. Be mindful about bringing in beach sand, but if you do there are vacuums provided. The views of the ocean are just as depicted in the photos. On one moonless night, the sky was so dark we were even able to clearly see the Milky Way. The beach area was never crowded when we went which was typically early in morning or late afternoon. We tried surf fishing but didn't come up with anything other than a couple of nibbles. I did have a 1 foot skate or ray glide by my feet one day though so be sure to do the foot shuffle when going out in the water. The only slight drawback during the trip had nothing to do with the house. During our time in the area, numerous local restaurants were still facing staff shortages so had limited days and hours of service. Hopefully everything returns to normal next spring and summer as covid rates decline and the seasonal workers return. If you are thinking of booking this place, just do it! Wanted to say thank you again to the owner for your insight and tips, we will definitely make it a point to come back to this wonderful home next year!

Stay

Enjoyed the property, had every thing we needed. Quiet neighborhood. Good beach access. Almost 20 years since we stayed in OBX, when hurricane Isabel washed the house we used to stay in out to sea. Owner/manager was very accommodating. Recommend the home and we will probably stay here again.

Charming beach home

Couldn’t beat the unobstructed views of the ocean and dunes. Short walk to the beach. Walkable to Harris Teeter. Quiet and serene.

Relaxing location

The property is set up beautifully with natural, open land in back for unobstructed view. We enjoyed the easy walk to find plenty of food options. The house is spacious and very comfortable.

OBX beach vacation

family get away

Nice beach house, renovated and close walk to pretty beach . Nice deck and family living area Kitchen needs a disposal and to be a little better equipped given that we cooked all meals( due to covid) specifically - no large salad bowls, or serving trays for meat/fish. It worked though and we had a great time. Lovely rooms and nice bedding.

Mainsail

Mainsail has been updated by the owners and is a comfortable beach house, nearly perfect. The location is extraordinary, overlooking an undeveloped field of dune and natural foliage. Access to the beach is easy. One minor complaint: Mainsail could use a few more pots and pans. Supply is limited. Maybe time for a new stove and refrigerator?

First OBX trip.

Everything was perfect. It was our first time to Corolla. The property had everything we needed and more. It is a Quieter area with a private beach and very close to the store. The owner's were amazing and very helpful. It was an absolute beautiful beach house and the longer we stayed the more it grew on us. Our only regret was not staying longer.

Great house

This was our second stay at this property. It is better than the pictures! Very clean, comfortable, close to everything. Kitchen has everything you would need including a great blender. Owners are very helpful and attentive. The beach equipment and bikes are a really nice plus!

Great Place Close to the Beach

Mainsail is a lovely home located a short walk from the beach. The home's location is unique in that it is at the end of a cul-de-sac that juts out into a protected area giving the home an unobstructed view toward the ocean over the dunes. Frankly, we found the actual view better than those depicted in the listing pictures. The home is older, but the inside has been recently updated and we found it to be well appointed for our needs. The master bedroom is located on the upper (Main) level and does not have a connected bathroom. Some might find that difficult, but we were alone for a good portion of our stay and it was not an issue for us. The kitchen is well equipped and we found it held everything we needed for our week at the beach. The grill is fairly small and is charcoal. If I would make any suggestion to the owners it would be to upgrade to a gas unit, but we were able to use the one provided without issue. The owners/managers could not have been nicer in accommodating us and making sure that everything we needed or asked for was taken care of. I have rented numerous homes in several places over the years and have never dealt with a group more responsive than this one. It really gave us confidence that we picked the right home. The area of Corolla was perfect for us in that it is less congested than further south, but still had all the amenities close by. Of course, the experience was different with Covid shutdowns and restrictions, but we still found everything we needed. We took a tour of the horses on the beach further north and had a wonderful time. We went through Wild Horse Adventure Tours right across the way from the house and felt very comfortable. All in all, I can highly recommend this home for a simple and relaxed week at some of the pretties beaches anywhere.

Amazing home!

Mainsail is an amazing home with even more amazing owners! Every time I thought they couldn’t be sweeter, they found a way. The check in process was easy, the owners were easy to communicate with, the house was lovely, clean and well equipped. We even had snacks and cold drinks waiting on us when we arrived! We sat on the porch and watched the foxes play in the sand dunes, hung out on the beach and lazed around in the house - a perfect weekend! We will be back to Mainsail!

Great ocean views!

Our family had an awesome vacation here! You can tell the house has been updated and was super clean when we arrived. The house came with bikes, umbrellas, chairs, bocce ball, towels- everything we needed! We rode our bikes everywhere, there are side walks that take you to Timbuk2, Adventure Golf and Duck Donuts! The view off the back deck is beautiful and a short walk to the beach. We would definitely come back!!

Southern Hospitality

This was my family’s first trip to Corolla Beach and we were not disappointed! The house was beautiful and only a short walk from the beach. There were bicycles, kayaks, beach toys, umbrellas, and a tent for us to use during our stay. The owner was so hospitable, providing us with cold drinks for our arrival, as well as gift cards to a few local restaurants. In addition, they provided us with information about local attractions, traffic tips, where to eat, etc. My family and I have rented several beach houses in the past, and this was our best experience yet.

The best of everything

We loved everything about our stay at this vacation home, Mainsail. The house is newly renovated, and the furniture and decor are beautiful. The house was impeccably clean, which we appreciated so much because we have two small children who spend much time playing on the floor. The owners took care to go the extra mile by offering extra amenities like bikes, beach towels/chairs/umbrellas, games and toys (the arcade games in the kids room were a huge hit). The view from the great room and porch is simply breathtaking. We spent mornings and evenings on the porches listening to the ocean waves and watching rabbits, deer, birds and even a grey fox! The private beach is only a 2 minute walk, and is nice and wide with soft sand. Not at all crowded. The owners were very kind and extremely communicative and responsive, both before booking and during our stay. Harris Teeter, Duck Donuts, a Taphouse and an upscale restaurant are walkable, and its only 2 blocks from the bike path which takes you to Corolla or Timbuk2 for dining, mini golf etc. We spent every evening on the porch listening to the waves and enjoying the ocean breeze. Perfection. We couldn’t have hoped for a better stay in a better place. Thanks so much for such a wonderful vacation Mainsail!
