Charming cottage inside Óbidos castle

Very cozy little house located inside Óbidos castle walls. In a quiet street but within walking distance of the bustling Main Street, where there are cafes, restaurants, typical good stores and the bars where the famous Ginjinha d'Obidos is served.
The house has two floors and is equipped with all amenities, including free Wi-Fi network.
In the ground floor there are the kitchen and the living room with sofa bed for two, and a cable TV. On the 1st floor there are two bedrooms, one with double bed and the other with twin beds and one full bathroom. Bed linen and towels are included.
Visit us throughout the year enjoying all the events happening in Óbidos: the Holy Week, the International Chocolate Festival, the Medieval Market (in July), Folio (a literary event) and Óbidos Christmas village (December).

A truly delightful property in the heart of Obidos. It was the perfect location to enjoy the many experiences that make Obidos so uniquely special.The property was perfectly located and had all the needed amenities and then some.Our host, Gabriela, was always available to us and most helpful in guiding us to the property (parking, walking directions and other places to see and experience).Portugal in general and Obidos in particular was and amazing and truly magical experience.You won't go wrong by staying at this property.

We were really impressed by how thoughtfully appointed everything in this spotlessly clean, and charmingly decorated cottage was. Its location right off the center off the “main drag” was also a plus. We used all the laundry detergent, and our host immediately dispatched her representative to refill us and show us the tricks of the system.Highly recommended if you want the full immersive Obidos experience!

Fantastic place to stay in Obidos! Great location, amazing host

A great place to stay, nice house, excellent location, easy access to all main attractions in Obidos. The host, Gabriela, warm, attentive, helpful, welcoming, kind. She made us feel as though we were home with long time friends. I will absolutely recommend staying at Casa da Travessa!

Adorable home in beautiful walled town

Our host was extremely friendly and helpful, and patiently resent parking and arrival instructions after my VRBO app stopped working. The house was very clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Location is quiet and pretty. We would stay here again.

One night stay inside the castle walls

Pleasant experience! Nice cottage. Only downside was the walk up the hill on the cobblestones pulling suitcases. But no broken wheels, so it was a success!

Could not have been more perfect!

This spacious impeccably clean and fully equipped cottage is a perfect oasis located on a quiet side lane of Obidos, which during the day is crowded with tourists. The picturesque rental offers the perfect antidote to the daily crowds by providing a wonderful opportunity to experience the town before and after business hours, or offering a comfortable base to explore nearby towns and the surrounding countryside. It really is a home away from home and as soon as we entered the place we wished we were staying more than 1 night. The rental provided us with a most memorable stay, thank you Maria! The host Gabriel is outstanding and very responsive as well gave us tips on parking. The charming and quaint cottage is inside Obidos castle. It’s a picturesque town and you can walk around and get spectacular views. We enjoyed the Capinha bakery especially their coconut orange and sweet potato raisin cookies. They bake delicious brioche bread as well. The Filligree museum was very interesting too.

Loved it!

Perfect place to end our trip to Portugal on! Wish we had more time there. We were grateful to have the opportunity to experience Obidos at its quietest; and thankful the church bells do no begin ringing until 9 am. :) The beds were very comfortable and the cottage is very well appointed. A magical place- loved every minute!

Short stay

We had a great start. I mistakenly booked the wrong date and the host quickly accommodated. Unfortunately after our stay it was the complete opposite. The host has made false accusations albeit this is unclear because of the language differences and this is currently under investigation.

Lovely cottage in Obidos

Lovely cottage in the heart of medieval Obidos. It was very clean, quiet, and bright. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. The owner - Gabriela - was extremely thoughtful. She anticipated all of our needs (i.e. had purchased snacks and a liter of milk for breakfast for the first morning, and arranged for a taxi to assist us during our stay). She was an absolutely wonderful host! I would highly recommend staying here. Obidos has a rich history - there is a lot to see and do! Taxi driver (Candido) was also very helpful.

Lack of communication

Although the accommodation was beautiful and the location is very charming, the lack of communication from the homeowner made for a bad experience. From the beginning I asked if there was parking infront of the house because I had a relative with a disability coming in and I am aware that Obidos is filled with steep hills. I was told yes, however the parking was outside the town. We had to carry my 67 year old aunt inside the house. From my 5 years experience of renting through home away, as soon as I book the accommodation, the owner always sends me an email of what's expected to happen and house rules. They also tell me where they hide the keys so I can come in as late as I please. I did not get this with the homeowner I felt like I had to nag her for responses. Even then, she would tell me "let's take care of it later". While I was in Portugal, there was no communication until the day of. I had no internet so I did not receive any of the homeowner's messages. I texted her around 8:50pm letting her know I was going to have dinner and that I was 30 minutes away...to which her response was "you have until 10pm to retrieve your keys." I understand that her accommodation isn't a hotel, however I did purchase a night and didn't feel it was appropriate for me to have a curfew. This relationship was a business one, not a personal one where I am told when I should come in, especially 1 hour before. What would have happened if I hadn't texted her? In turn, I was not able to have dinner until 11pm, at a fast food burger joint. She also did not communicate with me that she needed to do a check in process...a legal requirement in Portugal that I never heard of before. Although the homeowner is very friendly and the house is beautiful, I would never book to stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.

Das Haus ist absolut zentral gelegen, ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir aber Gabriela's Gastfreundschaft! Sie war so lieb, uns bei unserer Ankunft an einem Treffpunkt abzuholen und uns zum Haus zu geleiten. Und bei jedem Anliegen war sie überaus hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Wir können die Casa da Travessa daher wärmstens empfehlen, um die auch bezaubernde mittelalterliche Stadt Obidos und dessen Umgebung zu erkunden. Gabriela wünschen alles Gute. Absolutly recomandable

We had a absolutly wunderful stay in Gabriela's house. The house looks so nice that a lit of tourists tool pictures of it :-) It is very cosy, everything needed is there, it is well located and Gabriela is the best host you can imagine. She is so friendly and helpful in every case. We absolutly recomand the casa da travessa for a stay in the beautiful city Obidos. Best wishes Frieder & Mandy from Germany

Lovely cottage in Obidos!

Myself and my son stayed at Gabriela's property for a week. It was a lovely cottage, fully equipped and with very easy access to the main amenities. Very central location but quiet with privacy at the same time. Gabriela was very attentive and helpful with all our questions. Myself and my son stayed at Gabriela's property for a week. It was a lovely cottage, fully equipped and with very easy access to the main amenities. Abbiamo trascorso tre giorni in questa casa nel centro storico di Obidos, è situata in una stradina molto tranquilla, la casa è ben accessoriata, confortevole e comoda. Obidos è un borgo antico delizioso in una posizione ottima per visitare Alcobaca, Batalha, Fatima e Nazare'. Gabriela è una padrona di casa molto gentile e disponibile, è stata una vacanza molto piacevole e rilassante.
