Tucked away in a quiet, wooded community, Owl's Retreat is off-the-beaten-path yet still within minutes from the best of Deep Creek Lake! Plus, it is dog friendly so you can treat your four-legged friend to a vacation too.

The main level is instantly inviting with wood accents and well-chosen decor. Warm up in one of the wingback chairs in the fireside sitting area or kickback on the couch to watch TV in the great room.

Equipped with everything you need to prepare homemade treats, the kitchen is open to the dining room that has seating for six. You can also enjoy meals outdoors on the deck. Woodland scenery and the sounds of nature make the perfect backdrop for a summertime barbecue.

Upstairs, there is a primary suite that is furnished with a queen bed and wall-mounted TV. You will love having a private balcony where you can stargaze before bedtime or sip your coffee each morning.

The upper level also offers a bedroom with a queen bed and TV that is decorated with a good night's sleep in mind. A second bedroom is outfitted with a duobunk and TV. It is the perfect spot for the kids, and they will love having their own space!

Offering room to run and play, the wooded yard is especially beautiful when the fall foliage is on full display. Quiet community roads are ideal for long walks and bike rides. Throughout all four seasons, the bubbling outdoor hot tub is the ideal place to unwind.

Owl's Retreat is only 2.5 miles from the heart of Deep Creek Lake activities, so you can easily reach restaurants, shops, mini golf and more. Wisp Resort has something every age and interest. Skiing, golf, snow tubing, ziplines, mountain biking and disc golf are just a few of the adventures you can experience. On top of the mountain, the Adventure Sports Center has guides who will take you on a thrilling whitewater rafting trip on their man-made river.

Sunny summer days are best spent cruising Deep Creek Lake by boat. Stop by a local marina to rent one and treat your family to on-the-water fun.

Be sure to include our state parks in your vacation itinerary. Deep Creek Lake State Park has a sandy beach for swimming along with multiple playgrounds, picnic areas and hiking trails. The majestic waterfalls at Swallow Falls State Park are also not to be missed. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the picturesque views!

Wonderful little cabin in the woods

We had a great stay here! Just a short trip to WISP - maybe 10 mins bc of traffic - but felt very out of the way and uncrowded. Tucked into the woods in a very quiet and peaceful area. Everything was clean and in great working order.

Great safe get away

Beautiful cabin in great location. They provided wood for fireplace so we were cozy all weekend. It snowed and made for perfect scenery all around the cabin with snow on the trees. The kids loved playing in the snow and then enjoying the hot tub. Canā€™t wait to book again.

Overall fun and relaxing weekend with family. The location was great only issue was it was not cleaned very well in the bedrooms. Also floor creeks very badly in bedroom upstairs. Other than that place was great

Owls Retreat - A Hooting Good Time

Owls Retreat was an excellent stay! The house is smaller than the pictures imply but still perfect for a couples weekend getaway. The hot tub and fire pit are on the front of the home which also faces neighbors - so just be mindful. The location was perfect, quiet but within 8 minutes to ā€œdowntownā€ Deep Creek. Lots of firewood at the property as well as a fully stocked kitchen in regards to pots/pans and other kitchen necessities.

Great Place To Stay!

This property has everything you need and more! Dont worry about bringing any kitchen utensils as there is a wide variety of items ! The location is a short distance to the lake and other area attractions. The home is well kept and clean on the inside. The outside could use a little grooming but met the needs of my family and dog. The hot tub was enjoyable and was checked out and cleaned again by a very knowledgeable employee. This was a very relaxing and comfortable stay!

Owlā€™s Retreat

The property was spectacular. Made for a really enjoyable weekend getaway. The property was as advertised with close proximity to many outdoor activities. The only negative to this property was the upstairs was quite warm overnight as we stayed at the end of the summer. I would definitely recommend this property to others as well as book again. Thank you!

Awesome!

The directions to the property that were given to use were not the most accurate... but we found it! House was really clean and felt welcoming. We went up for a weekend getaway to go skiing at Wisp resort - the cabin is literally 5 minutes from the resort. I would suggest to bring more toilet paper. The 2-3 rolls they give you aren't enough for the weekend for six guests. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay and will return if we come back next year.

Weā€™ve been coming to Deep Creek Lake for years and have never had an experience like this. While the house was cute at first glance, it quickly became clear that itā€™s not being maintained.The outdoor decks are falling apart, with dry rot and visible wear. The hot tub is oddly placed right in the front driveway, completely exposed to the road and neighbors -not exactly relaxing. Speaking of the neighborhood, the surrounding area felt rundown, with odd items hanging from trees on nearby properties, adding to the overall dilapidated vibe.Inside the home, cleanliness was a major issue. The Keurig coffee maker had visible slime in the water reservoir ā€” so we couldnā€™t even make coffee in the morning. There were multiple mouse traps with peanut butter throughout the house, and unfortunately, we woke up to a mouse caught in one of them. That alone made it hard to feel comfortable.The bedding didnā€™t appear to have been properly cleaned ā€” we found black dog hair on the sheets upon arrival. The shower leaked, and it was clear no one is taking care to prepare this home for guests the way they should.We rented through Taylor-Made, and overall, the customer service was disappointing. There was little apology or genuine concern. They did refund us for two of the three nights after we chose to leave early and offered us another property ā€” but the alternative wasnā€™t much better.We regret staying even one night. Itā€™s unfortunate, because Deep Creek is usually a favorite.

Not Clean Upon Arrival

We arrived for our stay at about 9pm. The check in process wasn't an issue, as they had specific instructions for check in after hours. However, the place had not been cleaned. The sheets in the master bedroom were not changed and were stained. The upstairs bathroom tub was so dirty that it had muddy footprints visible and the dirty towels were still on the floor. The sink was also dirty. Several dishes in the kitchen had food residue on them, even though they were put away in the cabinets. I took pictures and called a message for the office asking for a return call the next day. It wasn't returned by 10 am, so I called again, and they did send housekeeping out rather quickly to clean up. However, no one has followed up with me regarding this disappointing experience. It was not addressed during my initial call to the office, even though I stated I was upset about the condition of the house. I submitted two of the automated surveys outlining the issues and I also submitted a request on the website to be contacted. I have not heard from anyone. I hate to leave a negative review, as I'm not usually a complainer. But the basic expectation is that when you arrive to a rental, it is clean. Adding to my negative experience is that no one would even address this with me and it's now been over a week. I wouldn't recommend the cabin.

Not the worst, not the best

Overall we enjoyed the cabin, however there were a number of things that need attention. First of all, the lockbox for check in was extremely difficult to maneuver, I received an email telling me a lockbox code as well as an online portal through Taylor Made that told me a completely different code and instructions, which made things very confusing. The hot tub had an odd smell to it, you also aren't allowed to touch certain buttons or the hot tub will "lock" causing you to be unable to change the temperature or turn on/off the jets or lights. We did not discover this until we read a *small* paragraph in the welcome binder. Luckily, we were able to figure out how to unlock it by a google search, but if not we would not have been able to even use the hot tub that evening. The wifi was completely nonexistent. The binder had a network name listed, a completely different network name showed up, and the password was incorrect. We called the office to confirm the correct name and password, and the password was still incorrect. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, but there are multiple rocks around the pit which if you have small children may be a tripping hazard especially in the dark. The neighbors didn't bother us but they are out and very active so if you are looking for something more private I would suggest looking elsewhere. Lastly, there were instructions on the front door however it was difficult to tell if it was locked or not. The inside of the cabin was generally nice and we enjoyed the cabin feel. They provide a lot of board games, puzzles, etc. For the most part we enjoyed this property, there are just a few things that need addressed/updated.

We took a weekend trip to Deep Creek for our anniversary, and the cabin was very nice and clean. The dĆ©cor was charming, with fun touches like a random Denzel photo that made us laugh and a Titanic model over the fireplace. The location was perfect! Tucked just off the main road, so it was quiet but still close to the lake and nearby restaurants.Our only complaint was that firewood wasnā€™t provided, and we found out the hard way that the wood piles between the trees didnā€™t belong to the rental property. Other than that, everything was great, and we would definitely stay here again.

Not very well kept

When we first got there, the key pad did not work and the code we were given was not correct. We had to wait over an hour and a half for someone to come let us in. We also had a water leak in the upstairs bathroom that came down into the kitchen. Despite those hiccups, we did enjoy our stay.

Nice for a short stay

This property was a bit smaller than we expected but perfect for our short getaway. We had trouble getting into the house because the key code was was incorrect in our email with the check in directions. We had to call the office twice to get the correct code to get into the house. The houses next to the property are also a lot closer than we originally thought so there isnā€™t much privacy if your using the hot tub located on the front porch of the home. All in all we enjoyed our stay and the property. Also, firewood is not provided so you do have to bring your own or buy some before you settle in for your stay.

Cute but dirty

The property looked absolutely adorable and secluded online, when we got there is was not secluded at all. Once entering the house it looked adorable but when we went to put our stuff in the master bedroom the sheets were dirty so we ended up having to sleep in the guest room instead. The jetted bath tub was also dirty and when I went to use it, it sprayed out a bunch of black dirt. The town was great, lots of stuff to do there! I would not stay at this house again due to the cleaniness of it and it not being as private as anticipated.

Bring everything

The house had pots and pans but that was literally it. If youā€™re staying here, bring your own hand soap because it is not supplies. Also, the hot tub was nowhere near a comfortably warm temperature. The front door was broken so there was a very cold draft. No fire starters, so make sure you bring those and kindling.

Good place

The cabin was nice. Not baby proof, it was pet friendly, luckily it didn't smell like pets in the house, that was nice. The screens on all the doors were already ripped and it let in bugs when trying to let in fresh air. The lock on the front door took a day to get used to locking as it wasn't as simple as other locks. It definitely sleeps no more than 6, and by that I mean 4 adults and 2 kids. Overall, It was nice, but I needs to be updated with the screens, door and the hot tub needs attention. Basically the home owner or rental company are Nascar fans because their solution was duck tape for everything.

Almost Just Right

Pros - Close to all activities (parks, restaurants, lake, etc). Interior of home cozy and clean. Very well equipped kitchen and bedrooms were good size. Tons of storage if needed. Cons - Downstairs shower leaked, so not usable. Landscaping needs TLC with exposed ground tarp all around. Also, a sewer smell was frequently present in front perhaps from a septic tank. Lots of trees but neighbors visible from all sides.

This was the perfect size for our family. The location was great and we loved the fireplace and hot tub. The cleaning crew could have done a better job preparing the property and the home was missing some necessities but overall we enjoyed our stay.
