The Bird House- Fall Special Rates!

The Bird House is a 3 bedroom, two bath, pool home located in Merritt Island. This mid century "space race" home has been fully updated with new appliances, great kitchen amenities, linens, towels and all newly furnished a la Mad Men style. Relax by the pool in the screened in veranda, barbecue your catch on the gas grill and stay in touch with advanced wifi tv's in the living room and all three bedrooms. Check the launch schedule, grab a beach chair and sit in the front yard to watch a rocket launch! The house sleeps 6 with 1 queen, 1 full and 2 twin beds with new hybrid mattresses. 10 minutes from Cocoa Beach, the nature reserve, Cape Canaveral and only 45 minutes to Disney and Universal. The perfect home for families or snow birds! Rentals are a minimum of 7 nights. In regards to COVID-19, our home is professionally cleaned and disinfected between renters. We have soap, sanitizer and disposable masks for your protection. The pool has a heater. If you would like the pool heated, you must message us and a $25/week or $75/month charge will be added to your bill. UPDATE! The entire home has all new plumbing. Sorry we were closed for a bit but we’re up and running now!

This is a quiet neighborhood. Please respect our neighbors. No parties!
Please respect all our house rules. No moving furniture, empty garbage and food before leaving,dirty towels and sheets in laundry basket in garage.
Do not unplug anything. The security system depends on it. There are plenty of open outlets in every rooms. Report any damage to owners.

Family get together

Great property, the kitchen and household goods very well stocked. Pool was wonderful and the perfect temperature. Convenient location. Would recommend staying at this property.

Great stay!

This was a great rental. Great location for what we wanted to do. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores to pick from. Very clean, comfortable beds, nicely stocked kitchen. Great outdoor space too!

Fun in the sun with sibs

We are a senior sibling group, 3 couples who immensely enjoyed the pool, house and area. The house had all we needed, great coffee bar, excellent appliances, spacious rooms, handy washrooms and did I say an amazing heated pool.Beach gear and pool toys were a bonus. Great spot to sun, swim and relax

We came to Florida to see our family and enjoy a break. As usual we had a fantastic time in a wonderful home. The owners are wonderful to deal with and have made staying there easier than our own home. If I had one complaint, it’s that we couldn’t have stayed longer.

Spring Break Trip--April 2023

We had a great time at this rental. Pool is great and kitchen well stocked. Corner lot so there was some car and bus activity, with just a little added noise. Overall it was a great location between Orlando and Cocoa Beach which was exactly what we needed. We would rent this property again!

Wonderful trip

Beautiful house and extremely well furnished. The stocked kitchen was perfect and helpful. The kids loved to pool and it made for a great trip. It rained quite a bit but thanks to the pool we were able to still get swimming in everyday. Highly recommend this house. My kids even got their first chasing down the ice cream truck experience. So much fun!

Home Away From Home

Renting the Birdhouse provided a relaxing, stress-free vacation for us. The 5 of us who stayed there found the home clean, roomy, well-stocked, and welcoming. The location was perfect for our adventures to mini-golf, Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Fat Donkey ice cream, Sunset Cafe, Playalinda Brewery, Brevard Veterans Museum, etc. From the side yard, we had the added advantage of viewing the Artemis launch!! Fantastic home on Merritt Island

We absolutely loved staying in this house for a week! The house was perfect for our needs and we loved being so close to Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach! My family is me, my husband, 14 year old daughter, 3 year old daughter, and 2 year old son. I definitely had to keep the little ones away from breakable things. My older daughter appreciated having her own room when the little ones got loud. We all loved the pool and the nostalgia of the house was wonderful. The host was amazing, very helpful and friendly. Thanks so much for a great stay!!

Excellent property

We had two families stay for a softball tournament at the Space Coast Complex. Anything that you would need or want to do is within a very short distance. The property is immaculate and has all the amenities you will need. Our hosts were great. Joanne and Mike were super responsive to all of our questions and the one issue we had. They responded immediately to us. Thank you for sharing your home with our families.

Overall ok

There are as many pro’s as con’s to the property...you’ll have to decide what’s important. First, the home is immaculate! Very clean and well stocked. The beds are HORRIBLE. Not a single one of us got a good nights sleep. If you like sleeping on wood slab, you’ll love it. The pool is amazing and perfect...if you can get past the two apartment complexes that look directly into the backyard...and the constant noise of cars coming and going from the parking lots. The immediate area is just ok...I wouldn’t let my kids stay in the car while I ran into the gas station though (actually was approached by a sheriff’s deputy investigating an ‘incident’ on our 3rd day there)...but beyond the immediate area there are a lot of restaurants and a Walmart. The home is 20 minutes from the closest beach access (when I read ‘minutes from the beach’ in the description, I was thinking more like 5-10). However, that beach access was perfect! Never crowded and easy to get to. Plenty of space, but the bathrooms could use some updating. Again - take the amazing with the less than desirable...for as little as they charge, you’ll have a nice clean place to stay, well stocked, with an amazing private pool and a 20 minute drive to the beach!

Great experience.

Property was clean, comfortable, and very convenient for my business trip and launch viewing attempt. Great location for access to NASA Kennedy Space Center. Host were very easy to work with and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

Excellent space coast base!

Our trip combined 2-3 days each at Kennedy Space Centre and the Universal parks with the rest spent at the beach and Merritt Island’s incredible nature reserve locations. Fishing opportunities are fantastic too but I just ran out of time. The Bird House had everything we needed with lots of space, especially the main open plan living area which is huge. Excellent communication and support from the owners who’s relaxed and trusting approach is a breath of fresh air that befits the Merritt Island vibe. It is clear that they want their guests to have everything they need to guarantee a great holiday, and for us it was certainly ‘mission accomplished’.
