Surgeons Island Paradise Just Off the Shore of Drummond Island Michigan

Come stay in our 2700 square foot, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, island home. It has a view of the water from every window. The 2 story home has an easterly facing sun porch that allow inside viewing of beautiful morning sunrise coming up over Whitney Bay and northern lake Huron. The island also has two docks on the western side that are great for watching your evening sunset. Enjoy the private water frontage and dock access to great fishing, water sports and boating waters that surround the island for miles. The rental includes a 24' pontoon for your stay to use how you wished fishing, cruising, or just floating around.

There is a deck on the eastern side of the home which is great for outside relaxing, evening star gazing, and watching the loons, water fowl, birds, deer and many small animal species that are in abundance.

The pontoon provided with the rental gives you the opportunity for touring the bay area, fishing and whatever else you may want to do on the water. There is enough dock space for 2-3 additional boats.

Easy access to the Soo Locks, St.Ignace, Mackinaw Island and Canada for those of you with a desire for day trips.

Note: Pets are allowed but this system only allows for a set pet rate and charge I have set at 75.00 but that charge is per pet. If you only have one dog or cat Etc. the 75.00 will cover you but you have more then one pet then you are responsible for 75.00 per pet for each additional pet brought with you. While at property you are responsible for pets actions and any damages caused by pets to property or furniture. We do not want pets on furniture. The charge is to offset extra cleaning times required do to pet hair smells Etc. Thank you Management

SurgeonS Island

A serene, private island which was ideal for our family, two adults, 1 teenager and 2 sighthounds. We all enjoyed the privacy and peace and quiet; we used the time to connect and do things together. In fact, after a few days of staying entirely on Surgeons Island, Blaine Jr did pop over to check that we were OK, which was very kind!

What a relaxing vacation!

The home was beautiful and very comfortable. Blaine was very accommodating for all our needs. Since it was early in the season the water in the bay was too cold for swimming although we did do some jet skiing and kayaking. No bugs or snakes. IT was very peaceful. Our dogs loved it and we didn't have to worry about the dogs wondering off.

An amazing place to relax!

Our week did not start well, we arrived an hour early for our 3pm check in, and nobody was there to meet us. Tried both phone numbers, messaging, knocking on doors at the marina, etc. After 5 hours of waiting we got it sorted out as a miscommunication. Other than that, it was an amazing experience. Cabin is perfect, and the location is second to none.

Highly Recommended!

The trip up to Drummund Island started off terrible with the car overheating an hour away from home then finally dying halfway between home and the rental house. After renting a Uhaul box truck, on a holiday weekend, I loaded up the wife and dog and we made our way to our rental on Surgeons Island. From the moment we stepped foot on the island all our anxiety melted away. The home is wonderful and the views of Whitney Bay are incredible! I cannot honestly say enough good things about the owners and this rental home other than we have another trip booked to Surgeons Island this year and we will be planning another trip to Surgeons Island next year. This VRBO rental is truly a hidden gem!

Great Stay!

Loved the location and the view. House was perfect. Was like stepping into a time machine, had lots of neat antique type decor. A great relaxing week!! Just an FYI, if you go plan to go early as you will be waiting awhile for the ferry if you arrive on a the weekend.

Great Place to Relax!!

We loved staying at this cabin on the island -- had the island to ourselves. Dogs could run around without worries. Little beach area was great for the grandson to play in. Enjoyed the area and fishing and tubing on the lake.

Amazing private island!

Our family of five stayed the first week of August. Upon arrival, Blaine(real nice guy) lead the way to the island and give us a tour of the house. We saw many beautiful sunrises, sunsets and even moonrises. We loved cruising around on and fishing from the included pontoon boat. We enjoyed bonfires(endless supply of firewood was included) in the fire ring near the small beach at the south end of island. Grilling and dining on the deck with beautiful views was also a real treat. The dog enjoyed running freely on the island. There was no wifi, but we got a decent signal on TMobile, especially when outside(including in the middle of Whitney Bay). No cable TV, but the place had an external antenna that picked up great over-the-air signals for ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS and a few other channels. All in all, it was the perfect final family getaway before our oldest child heads off to college.

A little slice of paradise

Our family of 8 thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful cabin and it's breathtaking surroundings. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and when we needed to have an item replaced the Tischer family was very quick to respond. Very friendly property managers who take pride in their properties. What an amazing place to wake up every morning with the calling of the Loons and looking out the the beautiful water views. Will definitely book again!

Relaxation at it’s best

What an amazing, “unplugged” week on Surgeon Island. Beautiful views and crystal clear waters. Our family played on the water the entire week. Fort Drummond Marine has everything you need for fun and sun. The house is just the right combination of nostalgia and amenities. We felt right at home. So much to do, see, and explore on Drummond Island and the UP If you are looking for a way for your family to relax and re-connect, this is definately the place to do it . Our four teen-age children all said this was the best vacation ever!

Beautiful, Relaxing and Fun!!

If you're looking to enjoy the best vacation you've ever had, you have to stay on Surgeons Island. The cabin has all the amenities of home on a private island minutes away from shopping, restaurants and outdoor activities. This is a family run business that really cares about their property. We love boating, fishing, hiking, riding ATV's, shopping and dining at excellent restaurants . If you're looking for a similar experience, you owe it to your family to get to Drummond Island and stay on a private island away from everyone and look out over Lake Huron.

Great Family experience and wonderful location!

This will be our 3rd year going to this Drummond location. It has everything a family would need. And if it isn't there, the owners will do everything to get it for you. The house is just liked someone left and took nothing lol. Quiet, secluded, home on it's own island. Comes with a pontoon boat and everything except food. We will be there again this June for our family outing, fishing, barbecuing, boating, and exploring. If you like the wilderness, water, wildlife and quiet atmosphere, this place is for you. We love it and will go as long as we can. Definitely worth it. Clean, sleeps 6 comfortably, and the owners couldn't be nicer.

Everything was great. Our grown children and their spouses and our 16 month grandson loved it

The owner of the property allowed us to take the 3 dogs. They probably had the most fun. Able to run free and swim. Very picturesque. Not many can say they have a whole island to themselves. Owners and staff do a great job. Highly recommend. .

Peaceful & Relaxing!

We had a great stay! We were surprised to find spacious and luxurious accommodations, with so many amenities like at home. Kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, and even cleaning supplies. We enjoyed bonfires, boating, kayaking, wildlife, and swimming. The only thing we wished we could find was a hair dryer! The host family was welcoming and helpful.

Great Get Away!

Surgeons Island is a one of a kind destination. Your own private island! A pontoon boat is part of the rental, which is a bonus for your stay and a necessity to get to and from the island. The atmosphere of the island is so relaxing. There are walking trails from one end of the island to the other. Nature is everywhere. We have seen loons, ducks, geese and sandhill cranes. Some mornings there will be deer on the island and you can watch them swim back to the main island. You can sit in the morning sun on the east shore or deck. In the afternoon you can move to the boat dock for more sunshine and stay for a beautiful sunset. The cabin has all the amenities you need, refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer, grill. The dining room table is a great place for gathering in the evenings, whether just visiting or playing a game. The enclosed sunroom/porch is a wonderful place for morning coffee. There are two full bathrooms, three bedrooms and a pull out couch in the living room. The best thing I can tell you is, our family has stayed here many times. We've always had a good time, rain or shine. Fort Drummond Marine and Surgeons Island has a special place in our hearts.

Outstanding views with setting view changing through out the day with nature and beauty all a round. A great place to unwind and recharge and have privacy, peace and tranquility with out all the hustle and bustle of everyday life which is just a short boat ride 5-10 minutes to Drummond Island for that if you so choose.

A 24' pontoons is provided with the rental for the week for your transportation to and from the Island and is your to use as you wish during your stay (you pay for gas/oil as required). The area and setting make this very unique along with the fact you have your own private island to yourself because it is the only dwelling on the island with beautiful accommodations and a very inviting peaceful natural setting.
