Welcome to Alma, a small river town on the Mississippi River's Great River Road. Alma, has something for everyone, Fishing, Bird Watching, Wine Tasting, Specialty Shops, Museums and more!

Furnished 3 bedroom condo, located across from the Mississippi River with great views of eagles overhead and the Alma bluff.  Features - 1 king size bed, 1 queen bed and 1 full bed. 3/4 bathroom, kitchen stocked with the essentials, coffeemaker, microwave, griddle & large deck overlooking the river.

We were in Alma for a wedding. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and were not in the property that much. The place was very clean and welcoming. Complete transparency, the bathroom and shower were very small and outside was a little rickety. Location is walking distance to downtown Alma and close to many cafes and restaurants in neighboring towns. Only 4 stars because of the small bathroom, only one mirror in a bedroom not full length and no closets.

Alma is a cute little city with a loud train that passes through at all time of the day and night. However we have stayed here 2 years in a row and just love the views and the town.

Second year that we have stayed here, location is great for us, very roomy three bedroom. With it just being the two of us, we can really organize our stuff and it’s very comfortable. Also very clean. We will be back.

Perfect for a Quiet Getaway

My Mom, Sister, Daughter, Niece and I spent a wonderful weekend here for Mother’s Day. We loved the location. As the listing says, there is noise from the trains, but earplugs were provided and it didn’t stop any of us from sleeping well. We enjoyed walking all over Alma to see the sights, enjoy the river, and local dining. Great little historical town, tons of character and charm, and friendly businesses. We also went to Pepin for the some Laura Ingall's Wilder activities and Lake Pepin and the beach, it was not a far drive. We also enjoyed a local winery and tasting. We loved the deck that comes with this unit, people watching, watching the trains, sunsets over the river, and watching the locks and barges was so awesome. Perfect little unit for the 5 of us. The beds were a little firm for our liking but you can never make everyone happy in that department. A patio umbrella and propane fire for the deck would be wonderful additions, but the current deck furniture was very comfortable. All in all, the unit was great, clean, and as described in the listing. We plan to return and explore the area more, including going kayaking and hiking.

Great Stay

The rental was as advertised, a weeks worth of finishing will bring it in line with the best in town. A final cleaning before the start of our weekend would have made it better.

Great Location if you're going to the Float

We were super happy with our unit. The three bedrooms were good size. The TV in the main area was easy to set up with our gaming system. The kitchen and fridge we also good size and can handle a fair amount of groceries. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. The deck was nice and had a beautiful view of the river and dam. If we come back to Alma, we will most certainly stay here again and perhaps rent an additional unit for more friends we'd like to come out with us.

Great Stay Great Location

Booked this location for some of my technicians that were working in the area. Communication with the host was great, very prompt responses. Techs loved how close it was to the water so they were able to get some fishing in after they were done with work for the day.

Great location! Only issue or us was small mini split for AC. We shut other bedroom doors to keep the main area cooler. Would definitely stay again!

Loved our Stay!

We’ve stayed in Alma many times, first time here. We loved it, location was great, its was So roomy. After a day hanging out along the River Road it was just perfect to come back and sit on the deck with a cocktail! Defiantly coming back!! Also morning coffee on deck was so peaceful.

NO ONE showed up to let us in. We NEVER got in.

I have the email via VRBO "Message from the host". It states "...Bruce and Valerie will be there...". I stated when I made the reservation that we would be there at 3:00 PM. We arrived at 2:45. At 3:30 and no one showed up. We called VRBO and asked to cancel and started home. When the owner finally called us we were already about 35 miles away on our way home. I have asthma and was having an asthma attack from the heat and the anxiety of no one showing up. I am a 100% disabled veteran with PTSD and was having anxiety attacks because we were far from home and did not know if I could drive home (about 200 miles) after already driving 200 miles, not being able to get into the rental and unsure if I could find a place to stay as it was already close to 4:00 PM. This is no way to treat a customer. I think we should get a FULL REFUND since the rental we paid for was NOT delivered because no one showed up to let us in. PS...There also were some very misleading photos in the advertisement.

Great price

Loved the deck, place was great for couples out for motorcycle trip. Master room could use dark out shade, bright at night from street light and early sunrise.

undeniable views

Really needs to be updated because it really looks run down outside and we had to make sure that we pulled up to the right place. Once inside, it wasn't too bad but like I said really needs to be updated. Close to several restaurants but we ate in for every meal but one. This place has no oven, so be prepared. The earplugs that are provided mute the trains by just a little and there are like 25 trains a night. The town is quaint and the views from the apartment are undeniable the lock and dam is right across the street.

Perfect property for us!!

I would love to come back in the warmer weather to sit out and enjoy the view in the huge deck! Everything was perfect! The only “suggestions” we have would be a deck box for the cushions to keep them dry, rugs at the doors to keep the floor safe from slipping with damp shoes and a few coffee pouches for the coffee maker. The price was very reasonable for a 3 bedroom accommodation!

Alma stay

Great location of this VRBO. We did some fishing on the river below the dam for walleye. Rented a pontoon at the Alma marine just north of Alma and we all jig fished for walleye/sauger. Great location and good spot to walk to some local bar/restaurants for food.

Turned out ok

Our stay turned out ok and glad we went; but it did have it's pro's and con's. For the pro's: It was a nice location downtown and the deck overlooked the Mississippi River. The unit was spacious and we liked the wooden floors/older home feeling. The owners supplied pretty much everything you needed! For the con's, the deck outside was not as inviting as it looks like online. While it does have a nice view, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in sometime and there were butternuts, leaves and cobwebs all over the deck. The table w/chairs looked dirty and uninviting and the chair in the corner looked like tears in it and I wouldn't have trusted sitting on it. Deck needs some TLC. The outside door to the deck is old and sags on one end so there's a 1/2"- 1" gap on one side, which could allow critters to fly in. Even if unable to replace the door, still need to find a way to close the open gaps. Our biggest con was the front of the building needs some maintenance/repairs. Some of the shingles had fallen off and boards were wide open, allowing wasps to try to get comfy. When got there, the main bedroom with king bed looked so inviting with nice view out the window, but then when seen two dead wasps on floor by windows and 2-3 live ones moving around, wasn't sure we were going to stay as I'm very uneasy around bees and my spouse is allergic to them. Rather than sleep in the main bedroom, we slept in the second bedroom with a queen bed that only had two dead wasps by the window. As the weather cools, they may not be as active, but I still expect property owners to maintain their units and keep them clean and safe for paying guests. While some of the floors did slant and were uneven in spots, it's a pretty old building, so that's to be expected. The trains going thru frequently didn't bother us either. Good if could oil the hinges on the refrigerator door and the door from the steps to the entryway so don't loudly creak would helpful. With some upkeep/maintenance, the unit could be more enjoyable!
