Watch amazing sunrises and sunsets, clouds racing across the sky, the moodiness of an overcast day or the approach of a storm. It's a never-ending story of change.

The shoreline also changes its character to the ebb and flowĀ of the tide. There are boulders that are exposed during low tide along with the seaweed.

The spacious balcony provides a front-row seat to watch lobster boats in the bay, along with cormorants and seagulls commuting to and from the ocean. You might also spot loons and other fascinating seabirds, with the occasional bald eagle soaring overhead. Each morning brings an awe-inspiring sunrise, showcasing a different display of nature's wonders.

The cottage at Baycliff is fully furnished and features a beautiful fully equipped kitchen with stunning views. It includes two full baths, a half bath, and is equipped with a high tier internet, WiFi, and cable channels. Youā€™ll also have the convenience of a washer and dryer. The walk-out basement is perfect for work or play, offering gaming tables, monitors, and office chairs.

There are two upstairs bedrooms and a main-level bedroom, all furnished with queen-sized beds, plus a finished basement featuring a bunk bed. The master bedroom window overlooks Frenchman Bay, allowing you to wake up to glorious sunrises every morning.

The property is shared with two cabins - The Guest House, (Vrbo# 887888 ), which is 50 yards further up the hill and The Pines, (Vrbo# 887970), is a further 100 yards beyond that.

Please note: The stairs to the beach were destroyed by storms in 2023, and we no longer have direct beach access. The cliffs, views, decks, and overlooks remain fully accessible and just as beautiful.

The house was clean, views were amazing (especially sunrise), the kitchen was well appointed (would like a toaster), rooms have amazing views of the bay, the deck would have been great to utilize but the weather was cool, loved the drive through the woods to get to the house, and the host periodically called to make sure all was well.Property was very private.

What an amazing place. The view of Frenchmanā€™s Bay, the house and all amenities, communication with owner/manager, proximity to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor was beyond excellent! We could not have asked for anything better. Having the chipmunks to feed was a sweet bonus. Highly recommend!!!

We had amazing stay at Baycliff. The house is in great location, only 10 minutes from Acadia NP and downtown Bar Harbor. The house has great deck with beautiful view of the Bay; very clean and very well equipped. This charming New England home was perfect for our first visit to Maine. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking in, Conveniently located to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. But also perfect for relaxing on the deck and taking in the amazing view. Kevin is a fantastic host, quickly responds to all communication, and clearly loves sharing this property with others. Wonderful view and location

Enchanting house and views

The house is comfortable and clean with all the amenities. Itā€™s tastefully decorated and pleasant to be in. The long deck overlooking the bay is gorgeous.We felt the quiet peace and serenity during our stay. Sightings of bald eagles, loons cormorants and seals were delightful.Our host was quick to respond to any issues.We highly recommend this place.

A beautiful and serene place. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing (from the house!) 10 minute drive to bar harbor and Acadia. Super clean and tidy and has everything needed to make a variety of meals. A real home away from home! We hiked, kayaked, and enjoyed a live production at the Acadia Rep Theatre.

Best family vacation ever!

Baycliff has everything you could possibly want in a vacation home. The view is spectacular. The location is convenient to everything you would want to do in Bar Harbor and Acadia. The owner, Kevin, communicates very well and gives great tips. The house has everything you will need. Our family stayed a week and loved every minute of our stay. After exploring and seeing the beauty of the area you get to come back to the house and enjoy the beautiful view. We hope to be able to go back some day! Thank you Kevin.

First Trip to Maine

We enjoyed staying at Baycliff for our family vacation to Maine for the first time. It was conveniently located close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National park. We were lucky to have been able to see the northern lights, seals, and a double rainbow off the back deck. Very clean and nice property we would love to come back again.

My parents started vacationing in Maine over 50 years ago. Back then, weā€™d drive up from New Jersey and spend two weeks here each summer. I have fond memories of deep-sea fishing, hiking, sightseeing, and all the classic tourist activities, but my favorite was skipping rocks into the seaā€”quite a challenge with the waves, wind, and seaweed!
In 1973, the property went up for sale and my dad immediately bought it. We began staying for a month at a time in the cottage, which wasnā€™t much larger than the cabins back then. One summer, we even brought all seven of our cats and a raccoon I was fostering! For more than 40 years, our family has been renting out the two cabins, and until 2019, my mom spent her summers here taking care of the cabins and our guests.

I grew up exploring Mount Desert Island during our summersā€”especially by bike. Over the years, I discovered the carriage roads and spent countless days riding through Acadia. Many days Iā€™d ride from Baycliff to the park using quiet back roads, enter at Eagle Lake, ride most of the carriage road network, then exit near the visitor center and take a different set of back roads home. These were often ā€œepicā€ three-hour (or longer) rides.

Even today, my favorite days are still spent on a great hike that leaves me wanting a beer and a burrito and needing a nap. Sharing this special place with guests and helping them enjoy Acadia the way my family always has is why I love being a host.

My parents first started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago, driving up from New Jersey and spending two weeks here each summer. In 1973, this property came up for sale, and they were immediately swept away by its beautyā€”especially the incredible views and sunrisesā€”and bought it without hesitation.

Baycliff is located on a very quiet side street on the north end of Mount Desert Island, offering a peaceful, rural setting away from traffic and crowds, yet just minutes from Acadia National Park and everything you may need. What makes this place so special is that itā€™s all about experiencing nature from the comfort of a beautiful home. A wall of windows across the front of the house gives you a front-row seat to Frenchman Bay as it changes throughout the dayā€”brilliant sunrises and sunsets, clouds racing across a blue sky, or the dramatic approach of a coastal storm. Itā€™s a landscape that is always changing and never gets old.

The shoreline below changes with the tides as well, revealing boulders and seaweed at low tide and creating what feels like a quiet, ocean-side meditation garden. Thereā€™s a balcony on the house and a deck right on the cliff with a picnic bench, perfect for soaking it all in.

We have just one request: please feed them! We supply the sunflower seeds, and with a little patience, some will even eat right out of your hand. Over the years, several have become part of the Baycliff family. Youā€™ll likely meet Hoover, Dyson, and Eurekaā€”our speedy little seed vacuumsā€”and maybe even Messy Marvin, the quirky fox squirrel who earns his name from the impressive pile of husks he leaves behind. You may even witness a few ā€œchipmunk warsā€ as they race each other to the food. We even provide a tiny chipmunk-sized picnic table for their meals.

Between the breathtaking setting and these charming daily visitors, Baycliff offers a kind of experience you simply wonā€™t find anywhere else.
