Swim, explore, and delight in native Jamaican cooking. The three villas of Blue Harbour are your base from which to experience the gardens and terraces abundant with fruit bearing trees, coconut, and banana. Beyond the saltwater pool, small colorful fish scatter through the coral reefs that follow the coast.

Built by the late British playwright, author, actor, Sir Noel Coward as his Caribbean hide-away, this beautiful property has entertained many celebrities such as Sir Winston Churchill, Errol Flyn, Marlene Dietrich, Katherine Hepburn, David Niven, and Alec Guiness to name a few.

A trip to paradise

It was a perfect experience from start to finish for our artist retreat! We were well taken care of, ate great food and were soothed by the sea. There is nothing like Dr. Jamaica and Blue Harbour to reset and inspire your soul. Canā€™t wait to return! Thank you to our hostess and all the amazing staff for helping to make our stay phenomenal.

Wow

Our stay at Blue Harbour was magical.The property is gorgeous and the views of the Caribbean inspiring. We had three "cottages" for our family group of nine. It was so well set up and managed. The owner, Michelle, was gracious and helpful. Leroy, Norma and Lloyd were a most attentive staff. The pool was perfect for all of us, especially the young people. I recommend it most highly for anyone wanting a bit of adventure in a beautiful spot.

A real gem!

Blue Harbor is one of those places that are so wonderful you almost do not want to write a review and keep it a best kept secretā€¦ It is truly a wonderful place, with stunning views, fantastic owner and staff, lots of history, and delicious Jamaican food. We were lucky to find it and hope to come back soon!

Spectacular Views

Beautiful views of Port Maria Bay and Rock Island. Three Villas with 6 bedrooms will sleep about 20 people in 10 double beds. It has a small kitchen with nice size dining and sitting room. It was clean with helpful staff as advertised but needs a few amenities such as hot water, more working fans, and night lighting of pool and walkways.

The property is beautiful. A perfect place to relax with privacy and the serene sound of the sea. The property manager and cook are a genuine, personable, generous, kind people. They are a pleasure to be around and the food is excellent. We are going back.

Best view!

Our extended family had a lovely stay! Michelle is a welcoming host and we feasted on chef Hortenseā€™s authentic delicious cooking. Leroy was always available for any needs and we enjoyed both the pool and water adventures on kayak and paddle board! This is not a resort. But if you want an authentic Jamaican experience in beautiful country you couldnā€™t pick a better place!

Total Relaxation

We stayed in a very private villa, large bedroom with a huge veranda to relax on. The sound of the ocean and birds were the only noise! I can see why Katherine Hepburn and Marlena Dietrich loved it here. Michelle, the owner is very warm and friendly with a good sense of humor. She asked a staff member to walk us up to Firefly so we wouldn't get lost.

Inspiring Jamaican Retreat

The Blue Harbour in Port Maria is a refuge from lifeā€™s troubles. We enjoyed the glorious view from our terrace, and the pool that looks right out into the water. The birds, including hummingbirds, buzzed around. We were well taken care of, from meals prepared for us to stories telling us of the history of the establishment. Noel Coward, the eminent British playwright, built the place so that his many friends from Hollywood, Broadway, and the West End could come to stay. Our hostess Michelle was kind and informative and artistic, and made sure all was well. We look forward to returning.

Relax!

A perfect Family getaway! No TV! This is a historic property. With only some minor changes. You can imagine what it must have been like when Sir Winston Churchill, Alec Guiness, and many other famous people stayed here! Off the beaten path. It is private, and peaceful. You will fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves, and cool ocean breeze!. The Host,Michele, and Staff were so kind, thoughtful, and helpful! We can't wait to go back with more of our family!

Peace, tranquility and healing

We spent 10 days at Noel Cowardā€™s Blue Harbour and enjoyed every moment. We were looking for a place far from the tourist crowd and hoping to experience real Jamaica. Blue Harbour was all this and more! Friends and family joined us at different times-making things a little unpredictable, but manager Leroy and chef Rasta Roy were great about that. The pool was extraordinary and we enjoyed its privacy and beauty night and day. The buildings have incredible verandas and views of the bay and mountains. The home cooked Jamaican food was sublime. The place really seemed magical and very special on a spiritual level. We left with priceless memories, new friendships and hopes to return someday soon.

Nice & Easy Stay

Chose the property for location, really enjoyed our stay due to Roy & Leroy! They are so accommodating and friendly. Roy's cooking was great, and Leroy was very knowledgeable about the area. Our stay was very comfortable, with room to spread out for our group of 3. Loved the rocking chairs on the upstairs balcony, it was easy to relax before bed with a drink in hand. We got spoiled enjoying the sunrise and sunsets, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Everything was clean when we arrived, and there was maid service during our stay. We felt safe knowing there was always someone onsite. And we were able to park our car within the gated area. The property has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. While we were out and about every day and did not get to fully immerse ourselves in the property, we look forward to returning to do just that!

Blue Harbour is the place to go if you want peace and connection with Jamaica. This is not a cookie cutter resort, it is staying in a historical home with all that implies. Simple honest with history. Spotlessly clean it is with quaint vintage atmosphere. I absolurly loved being here. We wanted to see the unspoilt beauty of the Port Maria area and that is what we got. Thank you Michelle, Leroy and Rasta Roy for cooking our lovely breakfast and dinners and being such friendly people.. Who can i thank for the view from the veranda? It was so beautiful it gave me peace every day. Come herd if you want solitude, bring witb you beer anx wine or whatever you need beyond a hot meal if you wish to eat in. Orracabessa is close as is Port Maria if you wish to eat out.

True Jamaican Experience

This was our best vacation ever!! I booked this property for my husband's birthday and the main objectives were peace and relaxation. Our expectations were exceeded! We felt like we visited family in Jamaica. This is NOT a resort and it is not for the pretentious and uptight traveler that freaks out over nature. This is for nature lovers, those that appreciate charm, privacy, intimacy interacting with Jamaicans and respecting their culture. We stayed for 3 nights and happily paid to have homecooked breakfast and dinner at the property. Everything prepared for us was excellent, everything we asked for and authentic. We loved hanging in the yard with Mr. Leroy, Jax and Ms. Michelle, talking, listening to music and playing dominoes. We only left the property once during our stay. We were so content not be sharing the space with hundreds of strangers, eating buffett food prepared for the masses, fighting a spot on the beach, etc. We got the best rest ever here and never felt unsafe or bothered I can't say enough about this place and we will definitely be back!

Magical stay

Blue Harbor is the same as it was 15 years ago, a magical place where we could relax and replenish! Leroy is so accommodating and did his best to make sure we had all we needed. We read, napped, ate delicious Jamaican dishes; ackee and saltfish, plantains, breadfruit roasted in the fire, jerk chicken and yams cooked with allspice branched smothering the chicken and more. The view is unmatched. Thereā€™s so much history in this compound. I felt safe and well cared for. We were able to hone our domino skills with Leroy. Heā€™s there when you need him but doesnā€™t invade your solace. He takes such great care of this amazing space. Itā€™s not fancy, itā€™s like going to your favorite aunt and uncleā€™s place, comforting and Peace is easy to find. We will be back! Thanks Michele! We were so sorry to hear about Rasta Roy. Blue Harbor did not disappoint! Cone see us in New Orleans at our place! Mo Better Maison!

Scenic Views and Serenity

Wow! After 7 days at Blue Harbour, we are home feeling rejuvenated! Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Michele, Leroy, Roy and Patrice were so accommodating and lovely to get to know. Here is an honest review of the type of stay you will have at Blue Harbor. There are a few ways to experience the island and this is the route we wanted to take. We wanted a genuine, small town, off the beaten path kind of stay. We didn't want an all inclusive, cookie cutter type of hotel. This house is historic and has all the character of a historic homestead. The property is beautiful with lush trees and plants to discover. The top balcony has easily the most spectacular view on the east coast (in my opinion.) We loved it so much, we slept outside for 4 nights just to feel the warm breeze and fall asleep to the ocean crashing against the shore. After a long travel day, when Michele offered us a meal at Blue Harbour, we were delighted not to venture out and find a restaurant or food accommodations. We ended up eating breakfast and dinner at Blue Harbour for 4 days and all the meals were fantastic. I felt that they were so reasonably priced and you could taste the love that went into each dish. We loved going into Oracabessa for lunch at Chris' Cafe and also immersing ourselves in local markets and stores. It was a special visit and one we will certainly treasure. We definitely plan on returning and visiting with our new friends at Blue Harbour.

A Lovely Jamaican Getaway

It was a lovely time had at Noel Coward's Blue Harbour. The property has a lot of history, and it was felt throughout our stay. The view of the Blue Mountains at sunrise while drinking our coffee hit the spot every morning. The property is large and private. The pool area was a beautiful area to relax at and is located down by the sea so there are a good number of steps to walk up and down to the main villa. There is an additional path and rustic steps to take you to the "old pool" and sandy/beach area. Unfortunately, during our stay, the wind was not in our favor, and it was a bit difficult to get out and snorkel, but we were able to make it out for a bit utilizing the paddle board. We did enjoy beach combing and finding fun sea glass and shells. We enjoyed walking around the property and checking out the foliage/coconut trees and walking up to Firefly Estate. Although there are staff onsite, this is not a resort, which was what we were looking for. The staff are there to keep up with the grounds and assist as they can with reasonable needs. They are available on the property and frequently can be in touch with you in the lower area of Villa Grande. Roy did a fantastic job cooking for us in the evening at an additional cost of food and labor. He also led us on our hike to Firefly. LeRoy was a joy to talk to and listen to music with and taught us how to play dominos. Michele the owner of the property was in town and stays at the residence up a bit from Villa Grande. She assisted in arranging us to purchase and receive wonderful Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee from her cousin's coffee farm, arranged for a wood carver in town to bring items to the house for me to browse and purchase (I was looking for some authentic keepsakes to bring back home), taught me how to make a pina colada from scratch and answered any questions we may have had during our stay. It was nice to get away to experience a different culture and meet new friends. If you are looking for a typical touristy Caribbean destination, this area may not be what you are looking for. We ran into a handful of businesses/bars/restaurants that were closed or not available and going off the main highway was a challenge to drive on (washed out/pothole roads). We did find that being at Blue Harbour was the spot we enjoyed spending most of our time. Wi-Fi was accessible in the main building, Villa Grande. We activated the international option with our phones and had talk/text/data during our stay.

Is Blue Harbour perfection?

For our wedding anniversary our family of 5 adults and 2 children slipped into a magical place. The photos do not do it justice. The setting is spectacular. The accommodations are those of a comfortable historical home not institutional elegance. The grounds are lovely, the pool inviting, the sea and mountain views unbeatable. But - the most important element was the care provided by the staff. LeRoy handles everything and Roy's jerk chicken was reason enough to go. Michele has a treasure which you would be forever thankful if you can experience. If you go, take time to ask questions and hear some wonderful stories about this special place. The family is unanimous in wanting another visit!

A private resort in the middle of real Jamaica

My wife and I spent 9 days in the real Jamaica while living as if we were in an expensive resort. Sunrise over the Caribbean while sitting on our enormous balcony with a cup of Blue Mountain coffee, listening to the surf, one of our favorite moments each day. And if Roy offers to cook something Jamaican for you, say YES. Leroy will make sure you are well taken care of, and his radio is always tuned to reggae and the local cricket scores. Make sure you get out to see and feel the Jamaican cultureā€”jerk centers, fresh fruit vendors, fish marketsā€”but donā€™t schedule too many activities away from Blue Harbour because you will want lots of time to walk through the tropical flowers and trees, swim in the luxurious salt water pool and take naps on the big balcony. We were sad to leave this place, but we will always have great memories.

The view!

The view was amazing! The beach was very close by to go snorkeling. We fell asleep to the sound of the surf-so relaxing! The staff was very welcoming and flexible with meals around our activities.

Beautiful haven away from the crowds

Amazing location right by the sea with a fantastic view of the coastline and distant mountains. Exactly how I imagine Jamaica to be! Stayed in the villa right on the edge of the sea and sound very soothing at night. Lovely gardens with little winding paths. Pleasantly surprised to find breakfast included in price. Also, had 2 dinners, expertly prepared and tasty Jamaican food , and good value for money. Staff very warm and welcoming.

Special Paradise in Jamaica

My husband, myself and our 4 yr old daughter stayed at Blue Harbour five years ago ( sorry I enetered a fake arrival date so I could write this very belated review) and it was a trip we still talk about to this day. The accommodations are not for everyone but perfect for those who love life off the beaten path without sacrificing luxuries like poolside living and amazing views.We stayed in Villa Chica and had the whole estate to ourselves. We spent time in the big house enjoying the view but Villa Chica was a great hangout also. The staff ( Mark, Leroy, Roy and Candy) were wonderful and so friendly. I will never forget Mark and Leroy ( on 2 different trips) making sure to take my daughter's hand when crossing the busy streets in Port Maria to ensure she crossed safely. Ernie was a great guide and very entertaining.Everyone went out of their way to make us feel at home, I highly, HIGHLY recommend Blue Harbour for those of us Caribbean travelers that love funky,beautiful,amazing places.
