Wonderful house fabulous owner amazing view

Solveig is the perfect hostess, charming friendly informative and on Had should any issues arise. We loved the house, it was well stocked, beautifully furnished and the gardens are stunning and well kept. The beach is a short walk down the hill, slightly slippy for the not so sure footed, but a very short walk to the stunning beach. We had a hire car so could access the island very easily and we had a really wonderful time in Antigua doing that. The solitude of the house is the biggest asset for me. A wonderful place to find peace and sit and read.

Do Yourself a Favor - THIS is a Fantastic Rental Home!

From the very beginning of our communications with Valli, this rental experience was First Class. Transfer of funds was clear, concise and safe. Directions and information readily available. Arrival at the property was facilitated with complete ease and Zeph, the on-site manager, was readily available for any and all needs, information, etc. As for the property, oh my gosh! A fabulous , top of the world experience! Being at the top of the hill, the fresh air cross- breezes were absolutely fabulous, eliminating any need for A/C. Beautiful, fresh, clean and well appointed home. Everything that you need is available. Lovely linens and housekeeping done midweek - totally felt pampered! Several locations to take advantage of on the property for "finding your own space". Large, beautiful bedroom/bath downstairs and the other upstairs. The very short walk down the path finds you at the beach which is one of the best beaches that you'll find on the island. We visited just about every beach on Antigua during our 2 weeks and Long Bay rates right up there at the top. Water is clear and beautiful with a bit of snorkeling available at the point just below the house. There are three nice places to have meals when you choose not to cook for yourself. Had a nice lunch of fresh pasta at Mama's - they close by 6p. Had a buffet dinner at the neighboring Verandah Resort which was fun. But the best buffet dinner was when we made a guest reservation to go to the all inclusive Pineapple Resort, just at the opposite end of our beach. Divine. Otherwise we cooked all of our meals at the house and the kitchen had everything necessary. We were saddened to leave as we had become so very comfortable! Thanks to Valli and Zeph. Would love to return one day!

A week in paradise

We spent a glorious week at Marisol over the 2015 New Year holiday. The setting is spectacular and the house is very well furnished and cleaned. We were lucky to meet Valli and her daughter, who overlapped the first few days in the house next door. The were both extremely helpful and very nice people. The garden and views were fabulous. There are several porches that are very pleasant spots to sit and read or just soak in the surroundings. We like to watch birds, and were entertained by hummingbirds, bannanquits, flycatchers, and many others from dawn to dusk. Pleasant breezes kept us cool at night and were never hot during the day. The beach was a few minutes away, just walk down a spectacular garden path and you are there. Excellent swimming beach. A pleasant 30 minute walk takes you to Devil's Bridge National Park, which is on a dramatic peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic, with surf crashing over the rocks. We recommend dinner at the nearby Verandah resort (walk over to reserve at their best restaurant, Nicole's, and get the lobster thermidor!). We explored a lot of the island by rental car, and especially enjoyed Half Moon Bay and a boat ride to Green Island from Harmony Hall (excellent lunch there too). We highly recommend this house as an awesome place to stay at in Antigua.

The perfect vacation

I traveled to Villa Marisol with my boyfriend and two friends in early May. At first glance we were blown away by the grounds and house! The pictures of the inside and outside do not do it justice, everything about Valli's home is perfect! The house was very clean and all the appliances were in great shape. No central AC but trust me, you don't need it! The house was very cool the entire time. We stayed at Marisol for a week. We walked down to the beach every morning and didn't come back up until late afternoon. We had plans to explore the island but never made it away from beautiful Long Bay. We took advantage of the kitchen each night, making amazing meals. There is a HUGE grocery store in St. Johns (40 min taxi trip from house) that has everything you would ever need. We also ate at Mama Pasta's (italian place on the beach- I know italian sounds odd for Antigua but the food was very good!) No words can describe Long Bay Beach, the water is crystal clear which makes for great snorkeling. We saw many different kinds of fish and creatures right off the shore. There is an all inclusive resort on this beach; however, there is also a steady flow of locals visiting the area and taking advantage of this beautiful beach! The owner and property manager were VERY helpful both prior to and throughout our trip. Make sure you have the address (not just directions) and phone number of contact person available before you go through customs in the Antigua airport. Overall, we had an AMAZING trip! It was hard to leave such a beautiful place but we plan to return very soon!

What a Place

This what VRBO is all about. At this awesome place; you're dealing directly with the owner, who lives nearby. This villa is clean, spacious, convenient to the beach (maybe not walkable for seniors) and the grounds of the property are out of this world not to mention the view from the back porch (the photo doesn't do it justice). At night it's even more beautiful as the reflection of the moon lights up the bay below you and some landscape lighting shines on the gardens. After a week here we returned home rested and tan! Having a rental car is useful, but certainly not necessary, the roads are bad and the road signs are even worse. With that said, you're on the secluded, eastern section of the Island where the locals are friendly and a good book or good music is all you will need to feel like a millionaire for a week or two. All the comforts from home are stocked in this secure villa and the owner is organized and most friendly.
