Shelter Cove is the place for you. Let yourself take in the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific Ocean along with cool temperatures from the large front deck. If hiking in the King Range is your preference, the trail head is just a short distance from the front door. Maybe the kids are beach lovers, again just a few steps to Big Black Sands Beach. So come alone or bring the gang to "White Water Rental" where one or six can be comfortably accommodated.

Hidden gem at the Lost Coast

We had a very warm welcome by the owners, MaryEllen and Andy. The house is beautiful, clean and has an excellent view on the ocean. We enjoyed the presence of deer, foxes and birds of prey. The trail head for the Lost Coast Trail (LCT) is just around the corner.

Gorgeous Ocean Views

This house was everything we hoped it would be. The views and location are excellent - Just a short walk to the beach and very convenient to hiking and biking trails and to the store and town. The house is spacious with large windows and deck and had everything we needed. The hosts are charming and helpful and enriched are stay. We hope to return.

Beautiful Peaceful Location, Lovely Home

The house was immaculate, well equipped and larger than I anticipated. Upstairs loft is huge. Great area for my son, daughter-in-law and their baby. A short walk to Black Sands Beach, so beautiful. We had sunny, clear weather. A perfect weekend for our family getaway.

Wedding

Our family booked a week in Shelter Cove to attend a wedding. The property was clean, neighbors friendly, and the view was priceless! The friendly and kind owners, Andy and Mary Ellen, would keep us posted as to the community events that occurred during the 4th of July week. Great time!

Location is better than advertised

The house was perfect in almost always that mattered. The view was excellent, the proximity to the black sand beach and lost coast hikes were just what we needed. The only issue was that the host was away in FL. This meant we had no WiFi and cell service was spotty. But communing with nature was why we came here.

It was exactly as advertised.

Very serene location. It is perfect for a remote family trip. The local little grocery store was very helpful as getting back to town takes a very long time (50 min if you have kids prone to motion sickness((very windy road)). The home was clean and stocked with anything you might need. Even Yahtzee! The host lives next door and is very helpful and kind. Keep in mind this property is time and emotionally intensive ;) to get in and out from town- so come for r&r and beauty right next to the ocean. Itā€™s not the best location if you want to travel to lots of surrounding places. The ocean view is awesome and walking next to the ocean so nice. Keep in mind this part of the ocean is for looking at, not swimming or surfing. Very dangerous. But stunning and breathtakingly powerful. The wildlife was lovely! Birds, seals, sea lion, deer and we even saw a bear! It was awesome. The restaurant options were surprisingly good for such a remote location. We would definitely recommend this place! We are a family of 6 and the house fit us perfectly.

The best weekend in a long time!

Thanks to our hosts, we managed to get in last minute during the hottest weekend in California. The weather was amazing, the sunsets beautiful, the location like no other.. we will be back!

Unplug and Relax

We had a great time in Shelter Cove. This is a great place to getaway and unplug from reality. We needed a break from the corporate world and this trip definitely gave us the break we needed. It is quiet, not crowded, and very relaxing.

Amazing Stay!

We had an amazing stay over the weekend. Explored the beach which was a short walk away, hiked some local trails and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching all the wildlife. House was very nice for our family with plenty of room for the kids and adults.

Best people.

We had a plumbing issue and my husband told the owners. They live next door. Within a half hour the plumber was there and issue fixed. Owners are sensitive to interaction with the people in the house. We enjoyed their conversation and agreed that if we were feeling it was too much we would let them know. It wasnā€™t and we enjoyed them. We will be back.

My husband & I retired to Shelter Cove to enjoy deep sea fishing, golf & the cool climate. We built this house in 2000, and just renovated it this year.

The home is located on a quiet cull de sac. With amazing views of Black Sands Beach, white water & the mountains of the King Range from inside and outside. Barbecue on the deck & enjoy the view.
Two king size beds, two twin beds & one queen bed. Comfortable for 8. Two bedrooms are on the first floor, the loft has one king & two twins.

Flat screen tv, blue ray dvd, so bring your favorite movies or borrow some from the Shelter Cove Library (no charge).
Very safe street for children because itā€™s not a through street. Plenty of room to park your boat.
