Waterfront Suite with Year Round Outdoor Sauna

Set on a beautiful waterfront point, this property includes daily use of an outdoor wood-fired sauna. The spacious accommodations include a generous suite and private media room with large screen TV. Your suite is located in an owner occupiedfamily lakehouse on a spectacular point on Rice Lake. Your unit is a lower-level walk-out with a covered patio for your exclusive use. Conveniently located 15 minutes from Hwy 401, 30 minutes south of Peterborough and 90 minutes east of Toronto. In addition to the large comfortable suite, the private media room has an electric fireplace and 55" TV with a selection of DVDs and Netflix.

The property is located in a natural rural location with lots of opportunity to view birds, squirrels, chipmunks, turtles and possibly, if you are lucky, the resident mink. Nearby there are hiking and walking trails right from your door and more extensive forest trails within a short drive.

In warm season, May to October, you will have use of kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards, a canoe, bocce ball, corn-hole and hammocks. We also have a tandem bike for guests to use. Bring your own marshmallows and enjoy an evening campfire, wood is provided at no charge. Bring you boat and keep it at our private dock.

Relaxing retreat

Very well setup for a weeks stay. Very accommodating hosts but not intrusive. Lots to do in the area but also very quiet for just sitting and enjoying the atmosphere.

A wonderful place to stay

I really enjoyed my stay here. The lake views were great, everything was well taken care of, and my hosts were great. The hospitality was quite welcome, and their asking price is incredibly reasonable. Will be recommending this location to others in the future, and will myself return to it again moat certainly sometime in the future.

Perfect Getaway

What a lovely place to getaway and relax! The cottage has everything you need and our hosts were so kind to prepare us a sauna that overlooks the lake. Everything is in immaculate condition and we would love to visit again soon.

Little paradise

We where very impressed with the location. Really a wonderful setting. Kayaking and canoeing around the lake, taking a sauna and a campfire in the evening while watching the sunset. Stephen en Cynthia are really very friendly and attentive hosts. It was a pleasure to stay at their little paradise so we hope to come back.

Perfect getaway

My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing time here. Stephen was such a gracious host. The place is the perfect getaway. The sauna with the lake view was amazing. It was also awesome to be able to canoe around the lake, do BBQ and picnic lakeside. Looking forward to coming back.

Relaxing and amazing place to rejuvenate.

It was amazing! The location was great it was right by the water. The hosts were very discrete but also very willing and kind to help at any moment with any of the provided activities. Sauna, Firepit, BBQ, Canoes, Bicycles, all included for use. Very clean and cozy place with great internet. Perfect place if you want to enjoy nature and escape the city.

Relaxing and Peaceful Location

Whether you want to relax, do water sports, or enjoy a sauna you can easily make it happen at this spot. The owners thought of every detail. They are easily available to stalk the fire, help pull out the canoe or give some guidance on a donkey sanctuary- which was amazing. Go, enjoy and experience the best that nature has to offer in a cozy location.

Relaxing vacation!!

We had such a relaxing time. Stephen and Cynthia were great hosts, there if we needed something but not obtrusive at all! The suite was clean and had everything we needed, including water shoes available if we wanted to swim. The area around the dock is a little rocky so the shoes helped. We also thoroughly enjoyed the use of the outdoor sauna! We would definitely stay here again!

Perfect getaway!

We loved staying at this beautiful lakefront property! We enjoyed kayaking across the lake, hiking and relaxing by the water. The hosts were wonderful - welcoming, friendly and helpful. The apartment was very nice and cozy, and had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the Toronto area in the future.. Note that this property is in the Township of Hamilton, which is quite a long drive from the city of Hamilton. (We didn’t realize this when we booked,)

Great getaway for a couple. My Daughter and I stayed 2 nights. There is a small galley kitchen with everything you need and a movie room with a large TV and DVDs. Inside there is a 4 person eating table and a 4 person lounge just outside the door. Outdoor activities on property include a swimming dock, kayaks, paddle boards, sauna and a canoe. The hosts organized a fire at night and a sauna at night and are very friendly and helpful in regards to nearby attractions and restaurants. We look forward to staying again.

Wonderful, quiet stay

We had a great time. Everything was very pleasant and quiet and the space was even better than I expected. I hope we can return at some point so that we can go out on the lake. Due to weather we did not take advantage of all the boats and equipment offered by Stephen. Everything was right there and very convenient. The sauna was fantastic and even though I didn't have intention to use it much, we did and were very glad they encouraged us to try it out. Just an overall lovely stay.

Happy to be back!

This is our second time coming back here and we love it! The place is cozy and very charming. The beautiful setting at the lake among mature trees offers a perfect atmosphere to relax. The sauna right by the water is a cherry on the cake. The place is perfect for a short or long stay and has good internet if you were to work remotely. The kitchen has all the supplies and basics you might need. The hosts are such lovely people, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay is enjoyable and were able to give us great tips on hiking nearby. We enjoyed the sense of privacy and serenity that the place offers. Big thank you Stephen and Cynthia for sharing this place with us. Hoping to be back sometime again.

Excellent Getaway

This place is an excellent place to relax and recharge. Both hosts Stephen and Cynthia were so accomodating. Even small details i.e. small container of chocolates on coffee table made a world of difference. I defintely recommend this place and we will defintely be going back next year !

Fantastic short term get away!

I highly recommend this cottage for couples who don’t want to pay too much but enjoy a totally peaceful place with an exceptional view over the Rice lake! The cottage was very clean and comfortable with all required amenities! Really friendly and helpful owners who managed any issues. Would defiantly go back here again!

Great location!

Well-equipped, comfortable little suite in a cottage on the lake. Stunningly gorgeous area. We stayed for 3 nights in early November, and the views around Rice Lake were spectacular, especially during sunset. It was snowy, so we mainly went hiking on the nearby trails. The suite was very pleasant to come back to in the evenings, to prepare food, watch movies, and relax. Great view of the lake, and of sunsets, from the property, too. We took quite a few outdoor pictures. Definitely recommend this suite for proper accommodation in the area.

Exceptional Stay

This place couldn’t be any more perfect. The directions were very easy to follow. The cottage itself sits on breathtaking island - with an amazing view of the lakeside. The suite itself was very well thought out and decorated. The owners put the perfect little touch on everything. The owners went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in every way possible. I would highly recommend this cottage. I look forward to coming back next year.

A fantastic little gem

We just loved this place. The suite is beautiful, and very well equipped, the view in gorgeous and the owners are genuinely nice people. We are excited to book again after the winter.

Amazing

The location of the cottage is incredible. Its right near the water and has a beautiful view. The cottage itself is well kept and has all the essentials that is needed. Would recommend to others. We had a wonderful weekend and would visit again.

Your hosts, Stephen and Cynthia live here year round. This is our retirement home and we love it here! Cynthia is a retired nurse and Stephen is still working from home (so we have to have internet - in case you need to work here).
We love the sauna, birds and water sports. The changing views of the lake provide a never-ending source of interest. We love nature and we appreciate it so much here!

This property is set on a point, so we have lake views where ever you look. We have a boating dock on the bay side and a swim dock on the lake side. We feel like the property is very expansive and you won't feel hemmed in by our neighbours. That being said we have great neighbours! The location of the property is great as we are very close to the 401 and can access several amenities.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

We feel like we live at a wellness health spa, especially now that we have the outdoor wood burning sauna. We placed the sauna on what we think is the absolutely most beautiful part of the point with a spectacular view down the lake. You can sit quietly looking at the view and be rewarded by wildlife that just happens by. Canada Geese, a beautiful heron, beaver, muskrat, a little mink that swims in the water and scampers over the shore rocks, as well as the squirrels and chipmunks. This is a place to slow down, be still, observe and let the surrounding nature in. The beauty of the lake is amazing and nature is all around.
