Summary:
Enjoy the uncrowded beaches and pristine wildlife that a bridge less island affords. Leave your car and your cares on the mainland because Little Gasparilla Island is accessible only by boat.
This comfortable cottage sits in a perfect spot on the island.....beautiful LGI beach out in front and two private docks right behind the home for easy transporting of groceries and bags to the home. Sunrise views over the canal and bay and dramatic sunset views from your font porch.....this will be your experience during your stay on Little Gasparilla.
The Space:
Please note that Little Gasparilla Island is a barrier island accessible only by boat; we provide water taxi information when you book. You cannot drive your vehicle to the island; you park at the marina on the mainland where you catch the water taxi. There are no stores, bars or restaurants on Little Gasparilla which means it has retained much of its "old Florida" ambiance and pristine beauty. For years Little Gasparilla was visited only by locals who would come on weekends to fish, go to the beach and enjoy the privacy, peace and quiet. Now, even though it has been discovered, the lack of commercial establishments means that the island appeals to those who want to get away from crowds, tourists, traffic and technology.
This newly renovated home features a large screened front porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico....comfortable seating and dining on the porch let you enjoy the fresh air year round. Inside, the home has a large beautiful new kitchen and living area with plenty of seating overlooking the beach. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to prepare a quick snack or full dinner.
The master suite occupies one side of the house and offers lots of privacy....with a private en-suite bathroom with oversized vanity, a large king size bed and spacious closets. The other side of the house offer two more king bedrooms and another newly renovated bath.
Downstairs, there is a washer-dryer in a storage area.
Directly behind the house, just a few steps away is your private dock at the head of the island's north canal. The dock sea wall is currently being repaired. Please contact the on Island Manager if you plan to bring a boat. This home offers the epitome of convenience.....a dramatic gulf-front location with the ease and access of a private dock right at your back door. The home also includes satellite wifi.
Wifi- satellite with no data limitations
Pet Policy - Pets allowed with owner permission and a $100 pet fee; some breeds may be excluded due to insurance restrictions.
Damage Protection - The $59 charge listed as a "management fee" on your quote covers your purchase of $2500 of “all risk” damage protection coverage on your rental property. This protection is purchased in lieu of a cash damage deposit. Coverage details are spelled out in your contract.
Minimum Renter Age - 25
Dock number 98: access to a private dock included in your rental (this is also where the water taxi drops you off).
Complimentary Concierge - the concierge typically is not necessary at this home because the dock is so close to the house.
Satellite TV - yes
Grill Type -charcoal, bring your own charcoal
Coffee- drip (filters provided)
Parking - $6/night ($8/night if you have a boat trailer) at Eldred's Marina where you meet the boat taxi
PLEASE NOTE: We do require that two members of each group must be over 25 years of age. We apologize, but we can NOT rent to college groups as a courtesy to the homeowners and our island neighbors. Guests will be evicted if found not to meet age requirements upon check in. Additionally, we can not exceed capacity in island homes due to the fragile septic systems.
INTERNET: While this home does offer internet, it is not the internet you may be used to on the mainland. There is no wired internet service on the island and there are frequent outages with many of the other options. Many people opt to use the mobile hotspots on their smartphones, especially if they have unlimited data or a large data plan. Cell service is excellent and that is the most convenient option. In all cases, we usually suggest that people download books and movies to their tablets or e-readers BEFORE coming to the island.
Please note that holiday fees are applied for major holidays.
The Neighborhood:
The island is only accessible by boat or water taxi. You must park your car at the marina ($6 per day). There are no stores ore restaurants on the island. There are grocery delivery services available if you prefer not to bring your supplies.
Getting Around:
The water taxi runs daily on demand, so getting back to the mainland is relatively easy, but most people choose to stay on the island and enjoy the peace and privacy. The water taxi runs daily during daylight hours, roughly 8 to 5, and the fare averages $25 minimum for 2 people with an additional $15 per person. The taxi will run after dark but there is a surcharge for runs after dark. Please note that we do have 911 service on the island as well as paramedics on the island if you are concerned about emergency medical treatment.
Other Things to Note:
Please evaluate your expectations before booking a stay on Little Gasparilla Island. If you are expecting a polished "resort" atmosphere, Little Gasparilla is decidedly more rustic. During periods of heavy rain or tropical storms, there may be standing water on the roadways, at the dock and around the house. This is a tropical environment with mosquitos, rust, power outages and other minor inconveniences. If you are expecting resort amenities and services, the island might not be for you.
Interaction with Guests:
We value your privacy highly and will not intrude, but we can get to the island fairly quickly if you have issues. We also have an on-island Guest Services Manaer, housekeeper and a handyman for emergency repairs.
