This studio is situated in the outbuilding of the main house and visitors are welcome to enjoy the garden. Entry is through the gardens and the apartment has a combination lock that will be changed for each visitor. The studio consists of a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, fridge with in-built freezer drawer, microwave, inbuilt oven and hob. The studio is supplied with cooking equipment, glassware and so on, and the owner will happily supply anything else as needed on request being a keen baker herself.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the bathroom with shower and toilet. Upstairs there is a large living room/bedroom that offers a dining area, sleeping area and living area. The studio has been fitted for 2 people as it has a double bed but could accommodate a child, who would have to sleep on a camp bed.

The garden has a small pond, which is covered with a wire mesh, and home to three goldfish. There is an outside table and chairs on the patio that guests can use and all guests are welcome to enjoy sitting outside watching the birds and the antics of the owner's friendly dog. There is an off-road parking space for our guests.
The owner is resident in the main house and are very knowledgeable about the area. Free Wi-Fi is available in the studio.

We are located in the cute traditional English village of Hatfield Broad Oak, just a stones-throw from London Stansted Airport, with two great pubs, a butchers and a local shop. Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow Town and Sawbridgeworth offer the quickest connections to London by rail and are all just a short drive away.

Great place to stay for long or short break

Stayed for a month in spring while house was being renovated. The property is very clean and well maintained with direct access to a lovely garden. Situated on edge of village that has two gastropubs, small convenience store and butcher. Short drive to further shops and pubs. Area is lovely, good for walking and frequented by many cyclists. It is about an hour's drive from London. Rodger, Fiona and Coco the dog are great hosts and I would happily recommend this property if you are looking for a good rest, some country walking or like us were in need of a longer stay. heaven in a small town

it was clean nice a good size u can have u own place not share at low prices and not share be close to london in london u new pay alot of share here u dont have that choice the host was great gave me everything i need picked me up at the train station when i arived and she drove me to local airport washed my sheets on the bed every week they got a nice dog its safe u can get into london on transport just over and hour but somtimes the bust wont show up but for sure great if u have a car if u dont its still good as u can still get into london i only had a few problems in a 40 day period very comfortable nice quite good internet great service just great in every area i love my stay here

lovely stay

my husband i stayed here for a week whilst visiting family and friends nearby. fiona couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. she is a wonderful host with a lovely dog and cat to play with :) the village itself is quiet and quaint, with plenty of walking-so having two pubs within distance was very handy!

Beautiful studio/flat in a lovely countryside

My boyfriend and I had a great experience staying at Fiona and Roger's studio. They are very helpful and always giving us some tips and things to do around the area. Anything you need they will be there to help you and advise you. The countryside is very quiet and beautiful. Plenty of walks to do around. It's very close to London so if you want to visit the city but also be in a quiet place and with nature all around, this is your place! We will definitely recommend their studio. Thank you Fiona and Roger for your help and to making us feel very welcome. Laura and Zsolt

Cosy

Cosy space with all necessary amenities. Plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothes. Very helpful hosts. Definitely need a car (or bicycles) to get around and visit neighboring villages.

A great place to stay and explore the area

Fiona and Roger have a lovely, quiet and well resourced little apartment. They are great hosts with plenty of local information to help you get started and explore the wider area. You'll need a car to get around. Catch the train to London for day-trips (I left my car at Harlow station). Less than an hour to Cambridge or IWM Duxford by car. The apartment is lovely, clean and separate from the main house. Snug and warm. If you need something, ask Fiona and there's a good chance it'll appear before you've finished asking . There's a small co-op supermarket in nearby Hatfield Heath otherwise the big supermarket chains are in Harlow or Bishop's Stortford. For a local cafe, avoid the Village Tearoom in Hatfield Heath (surly, selfish staff with too high an opinion of themselves) and go to The Shed at Sawbridgeworth instead (I should have listened to Roger in the first place!).

Excellent

Fiona and Roger made us very welcome in their superbly located apartment. The village of Hatfield Broad Oak has the 2 pubs for evening meals, both very good. It is also close to areas for visiting and easy access to both London and Cambridge. We will certainly come back. Lovely spaniel to great us every evening on our return. Malcolm and Jeannette

Very private flat, great facilities, lovely hosts

The Studio comprises a bed/sitting room, kitchen and bathroom, all on the small side but well provided. It is located in Fiona and Roger's garden in the beautiful village of Hatfield Broad Oak, which is convenient for numerous transport links to London, Cambridge and beyond, as well as for visiting this lovely part of Essex. There are two good pubs and shops nearby. You could not wish or more helpful and generous hosts -- and Coco the dog will break your heart. David and Gloria.

The Cattermole family is Roger, Fiona, Meghann and Edwin. Roger is an independent technical computer consultant whose hobbies include cycling and outdoor pursuits. Fiona is a hospitality consultant who loves gardening, sewing, cooking and is an active member of the local Women's Institute. Edwin and Meghann are both in full-time education. Coco the dog is very friendly and love someone to throw the ball for her. Lola the cat appears occasionally.

Newly refubished to a very high standard set in lovely grounds in an English village but conveniently placed for visitors wishing to experience major tourist attractions in the south east of England.

The historic village is just so beautiful with 2 churches and boasts 2 pubs one of which offers very high quality food. There are a number of great walks from the village and although HBO is near Stansted Airport (~5 km) we are rarely bothered by noise.
