Wonderful holiday home with pool and situated in small authentic village

Mas del Lilja gives you the opportunity to live in the outskirts of a cosy village with a butcher, grocery store and bakery with fresh croissants, surrounded by fields on three sides and close by the river passes by, making its way from the Pyrenees down to the Mediterranean Sea.

It is a newly renovated Catalan limestone house, where the respect and inclusion of the original style, has preserved very well the authentic sensation.

As the house is a former “Pairal”, which was where the landowners lived, while the peasants lived in the Masovers, the house is enormously spacious and has very large bedrooms, allowing flexibility in bed setup if necessary.

The architect has done a very good job in integrating the important areas of the holiday home. The very big covered terrace with barbecue faces the swimming pool, and has direct access to the kitchen, making it very easy to cook, swim and relax and still being all together. The children will love the swimming pool, which is 11x 8meters and from 120 cm – 165 cm deep and with a fence to secure it. The pictures of the pool, are from before the pool was expanded. The pool is now more then twice as large, as the pool you see on the pictures.

Inside the house, the kitchen is directly connected to the very big dining room, with a long dining table, so you can also dine together inside if you prefer. To the left, there is a spacious sitting room where you can either relax in the “grandmother” area with 8 rocking chairs, or in the sofa area with the biggest sofa we have ever seen, TV and Fireplace, if you come in the wintertime.

Also in the ground floor, you find the game room with billiards and table football, and outside also a table tennis. Finally, there is a bedroom with bathroom adapted for disabled people, all in level. In the entire house, there is WIFI-Internet.

On the two upper floors, you find the remaining 9 bedrooms and 4 additional bathrooms. As mentioned, all bedrooms are extraordinarily spacious, and they all have very nice views. One of them has even access to the first floor terrace. The standard setup is 6 double rooms and 3 triple rooms, but the capacity can be extended (against supplement).

It is no problem to enjoy the warm Catalan evenings outside, but as the house is part of the village, it is important to respect the neighbours, and after 23:00, music is not allowed outside. For the same reason, this house is not suitable for big celebrations. In an attached apartment lives the kind elderly caretaker Teresa. She always respects the privacy of the guests, but will be available if you have questions in any regard.

The house is the perfect base for exploring Costa Brava and the Pyrenees, and with the advantage of having two very interesting towns within 10 km., the regional capitol Girona, and Banyoles with the beautiful lake, where small channels leads the water to the river, directly through the city centre. If you drive a bit further, you can easily get to the beaches ofCosta Brava in one direction in about 35 minutes

In the other direction, Besalú and Castellfolit de la Roca are worth a visit, and if you want to feel the mountain air, drive up to Vall de Núria or Camprodón and Molló, where you find the animal park for “Pyrenees Animals”, a very nice visit, especially with children.
