With something for everyone, you can watch clouds blanketing Taos Mountain from the comfort of our secluded hot tub, or simply step out the back and you are in Carson National Forest a short hike from the Divisadero trail. The custom home is both intimate and airy, sporting high ceilings with massive vigas and kiva fireplaces inside and out. The two bedrooms are sumptuous and private, each with its own bathroom For the best in both town and country, This is the place for you.

Great Taos view and home

We stayed at Casa Julia for our 20 year wedding anniversary and loved the house. It has awesome views, a ver nice hot tub and a nice area to hang out in a covered patio. The property management was great as well. I would highly recommend this house for a visit to Taos.

Peaceful and relaxing

The house was located at the edge of the forest with beautiful views of Taos valley and sunsets. Could not have picked a more relaxing stay.

Holiday ski trip with famiky

Experience living in a great location in Taos. Views and isolation coupled with convenience to town. The home is comfortable and well appointed. Would love to come back to this property again.

Million Dollar Views!

The check in was easy, great communication with property manager, great location with amazing views, beautiful property! We loved our stay here and would stay again. Close and easy to get to town but felt like you werent and thats what makes this location great!

Great house better views

Million dollar view might be an understatement. Peacefully and relaxing. Got to watch the balloon rally launch without leaving the comfort of the house.

Peaceful retreat

Casa Julia was a lovely, peaceful retreat for us. Secluded and quiet but very convenient to Taos square & grocery shopping. The only difficulty encountered was with crazy GPS (Google & Apple) directions that in no way reflected on the house. Look forward to another visit in the future.

Great long weekend get away.

Taos is one of our favorite places to visit. Only 2 and 1/2 hours from home with a good art, music, and food scene. This property is about 10 minutes from the plaza but secluded and private. We spent the majority of the time outside on the back wrap around deck enjoying the view, quiet and serenity. This will always be a special trip for us as we met a terrific real estate agent and are getting ready to make an offer on a beautiful property. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us.

Gem of Taos

This has been the most memorable vacation for us. We loved staying at Casa Julia, which is located on the southern part of Taos, on top of a heel in a quiet setting overlooking the mountains and Taos town. The house is facing west which gives you have the best view on the sunset. The home is so beautiful, filled with so many unique primitive art from around the world. You feel so special being around it. I wanted to thank Lily, the manager of the house. She has been very welcoming and helpful for us to settle in during out stay. We are already planning our return to Casa Julia.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was beautiful. The views were amazing and the location convenient to the historic district and the ski valley. We cooked several meals but the dishwasher and disposal not working were inconvenient. The appliances could also use some upgrading. Our family of six wanted to spend time together in the living room but the furniture was not conducive to hanging out. All in all it was a great house - just needs to have some of the amenities updated.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have enjoyed staying at Casa Julia a number of times. We love the location, the grounds, and the spaciousness and layout of the house. However, the house is showing some lack of care: loose and chipped faucets, sluggish plumbing, and rickety uncomfortable furniture. Also, the steps leading up to the front door feel precarious to us as we age. A railing would be nice and safer. The dishwasher is ancient and inefficient. Because of these issues, we will regretfully look for another home to rent the next time we visit Taos.

Things that need fixing: low water pressure, loose kitchen faucet (these were reported, but care-taker was "dismissive"), and missing light at bottom of spiral stairs was a hazard. Property needs improvements to bathrooms, which were outdated and fixtures with mineral deposits; pillows/sheets of poor quality for this house, which otherwise is a beautiful property.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa Julia is a nice house. Very spacious with lots of interesting folk art.Needs a little more furniture in the main room. The black sofa and chairs are cheap and fragile. Master bedroom needs better side tables with lamps for reading. The house was almost always too warm during the stay. Closing the shades and opening the windows doesn’t help that much. Need some room ACs at least. They don’t cost very much. The house attendant, Kate - was non responsive. We never met her and often couldn’t find her. When we did correspond, she seemed angry looking le we were disturbing her and unwelcoming. The rental book they have for the house is written in a punitive and harsh manner. Too harsh for paying guests. All the “do this or do that or else language” is really not welcoming. We never spoke with the housekeeper and she never returned phone calls. When she did text, she said she had bad cell service. We waited around for many hours in Taos before we heard from anyone . All in all, the house and location is wonderful. If it was my house: If fix the outside railing on the porch outside the front room. The wood is rotting and could be dangerous. I’d fix the sitting area furniture setting in the main room. I’d get better sheets and pillows in the master. And I’d buy some portable ACs for the heat waves and I’d train the housekeeper to be more responsive and more welcoming. It’s a wonderful house - just needs some TLC.

It is nicely decorated, clean, and the views (both from the windows inside and the hot tub outside) were unbelievable! Kate was also super responsive and easy to communicate with. The only caution I would give is for elderly people (like us) who might stay there: The steps leading up to the front door are a bit tricky - but this was very clearly pointed out in the listing. We used our walking sticks, which made them easier to navigate. All-in-all a very pleasant experience and highly recommended.

We sat out there early in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night looking at the city lights below and the stars above. Another thing we really enjoyed was the fireplace. Casa Julia is convenient to everything - less than two miles to the plaza. This is a place we hope to go back to.

Great Property Near Downtown Taos

We loved this property so much! The views were incredible from both inside the house and the patio outside. Outside- There is great seating with a table outside that was perfect for dining and 2 Adirondack chairs for watching the stars at night or having a cocktail on the patio. We absolutely loved the hot tub and appreciated the property manager getting it ready for us upon arrival. There was a great trail right behind the property if you want to do some morning walking. Inside- The house could seem to some a bit dated with the kitchen and tile in the master bath, but we found it charming. The inside was very clean and comfortable. The primary bedroom had a door out to the patio, which was so convenient. We loved the layout of the kitchen and living room as well. Note that the only TV in the house is in a separate TV room with bunk beds, but we actually really liked that so when you were in the living room you could focus on talking or watching the indoor fire in the beautiful Kiva fireplace. We didn't use it, but there was another bedroom with twin beds and a separate bathroom. An item of note is that there is no air conditioning in this house. We stayed at the beginning of June and it wasn't an issue at all, but I hadn't thought to check for that before booking. There are instructions in the house on how to keep it both cool and warm as needed and it worked great! Location- This property was perfectly located for us! We felt far away with the great mountain views, but were so close to downtown. We could get to anything in 10 minutes, which was fantastic. Would highly recommend this property and we can't wait to go back!
