Victorian Dream # 109 - Large Downtown Home

After a 3 year renovation, it is a joy for my partner Jim & I to share our home “Victorian Dream” with guests and travelers. The home was restored to a condition that respects the time period in which it was built, its historic details, and craftsmanship within the setting of an Old West town where gold was struck in 1876. That’s why it is sad for me to learn that you did not enjoy your stay during the Sturgis Bike Rally, as so many others have for the past 2 years. We understand that rental homes are at a premium during the Rally and are not easily affordable to all. However, the claims in your review were shocking not only because they have no basis in reality, but also in light of the hospitality we extended to you, Frank. Specifically, we did the following: We responded promptly to all your communications during the 3 month interval between May when you made the reservation and the Rally in August. We helped you find free parking for your trailer. When your party of 10 arrived over 4 hours early, and you demanded that they be allowed to check-in, we made that happen. Our property manager responded to all your minor issues in person, on the same day, and to your satisfaction. By coincidence you met one of our carpenters who worked on the home's structural rehabilitation, and he told us that you and members of your party expressed admiration and enjoyment of the home. Lastly, we offered you late checkout, which you accepted. 2 weeks after your departure we received a text sent to Jim’s private number with several complaints and the threat of a bad review. Interestingly the complaints were totally different than anything you mention in the actual review or during your stay. I can’t help but wonder, Frank, if you were so unhappy, why didn’t you voice it during your stay? Why didn’t you ask VRBO to help place you elsewhere? Believe me, we would have assisted in that regard. While we are dedicated to providing a high quality experience for our guests, we will not refund for unfounded problems and unsubstantiated claims, nor will we play games with a process meant to provide an accurate portrayal for other travelers.
