The cottage is located in the Te Mata Special Character Area. An area known for its wineries and high-class restaurants. Within walking distance of Blackbarn Restaurant and Winery, Te Mata Estate Winery and Brothers. Craggy Range Winery and Restaurant, Askerne Winery, Dolce Vista are a 5 minute drive. For something special visit Arataki Honey House, an artists' collective recently set up in the old Te Mata Mushroom Factory and Weleda, the home of Anthroposophical herbal medicines and cosmetics. Walk and cycle tracks run past the cottage down to the Tukituki River Walkway. The walkways take you to Haumoana, Hastings, Clive and even Napier.
The cottage has recently been renovated and modernised while still keeping its original character. The golden glow of the native timber gives the cottage a warm, homely feel. 2 of the bedrooms are very roomy. Comfortable beds and blackout curtains in the 3 bedrooms help you get a good night's sleep. The kitchen is well equipped and has its own Espresso machine. Breakfast at the breakfast bar in the morning and watch the sun come up. Absolutely stunning. The separate dining area looks out onto the garden and the 100 year old persimmon tree, abundant with Tui enjoying its fruits in Autumn. In Spring the orchard is aglow with white plum blossoms. Sit on the deck to enjoy your morning coffee. Heaters in every room, electric blankets, a heat pump as well as a wood fire to keep the house warm and toasty in winter. We supply the wood and I set the fire for you. In summer the high ceilings help to cool the house. But just in case you need it, there is air conditioning and fans for the bedrooms. Outdoors we have a dining table and a BBQ for those summer barbies. We are also pet friendly and child friendly. Children (and dogs) love the fact that they have space to run around outside. The orchard is available to explore but be mindful that it is a working orchard. We supply a portacot, high chair and activities to keep your children amused. Shops: The cottage is 3kms from Havelock North Village. Our popular local 4 square is a 3 minute drive. Woolworths and New World deliver groceries. UberEats/Doordash deliver as well. Located in a private spot, handy to popular outdoor locations, a short drive to shopping facilities and bio gro certified organic fruit supplied when in season. Make yourselves at home.
