Open plan adobe home with stunning views of Cable Bay estuary and Pepin Island. Incredible sea and estuary views. Adjacent to old established QE2 covenanted native forest. Private and peaceful. Ideal for families or couples seeking contrast to busy lives! House set in mature native bush. Bird song, nature, water all at your doorstep. . Wander across the estuary at low tide to a wild and deserted beach, gather your fresh cockles for dinner on the way home. 10 minutes drive or 20 minutes cycle from Cable Bay beach where you can enjoy excellent coffee at the Cable Bay Beach cafe and/or Nelson wines after your swim or walk over the stunning Cable Bay Walkway. Bring your own kayaks for safe estuary paddling. Bring mountain bikes (or hire bikes) for exhilarating riding at nearby Cable Bay Adventure Park. This property is 20 minutes drive north of Nelson - epicentre for the arts and great Saturday market.
Owner is resident in private cottage 40 metres from house.
No Smoking please.
No pets please (there are visiting wekas and lots of native birds).

perfect stay

Adobe House has spectacular views over Delaware Bay so a stay can be absorbed by sitting about just taking it in.But we enjoyed the comfort of the house, a BBQ dinner, lunch on the deck, hot baths outside, and walks, kayaking , bird life. Rachel is a generous and engaging host.A terrific holiday break.

Expansive water views from exclusive private residence

The moment I walked up to the adobe cottage I was in love with it and the location! Our hostess even left warmed water bottles in the bed! The home exuded love and comfort and it was fun to look through the album of how it was created and built by the family. Highly Recommend!!

Magic family holiday

We stayed in Rachel's property for a week with our 2 kids aged 10 and 14 and had a fabulous time. The setting is lovely and peaceful and also close to Nelson for markets etc. The local Cable Bay cafe is fantastic. There are beautiful walks nearby and great beaches for exploring. Also less than an hour to Pelorus and the Marlborough Sounds. The property was spotless, contained everything we needed and Rachel is a great host. Would definitely recommend for couples or families.

Stunning location & amazing house

Just spent a week staying in this gorgeous, unique property, with the most amazing views of Cable Bay, Pepin Island, native flora and fauna galore ... Love the new deck, too. A new experience staying in an adobe house, but brilliantly proportioned house meant that there was heaps of living space indoors and out to enjoy. A pleasure to deal with the owner. Definitely planning on returning.

Lovely stay!

This property was beautifully presented and Rachel, the host, very welcoming. We loved the very peaceful bush setting and the view from the house out over Delaware Bay and the open sea beyond is spectacular and ever changing according to the weather and time of day. We also enjoyed the very close up view of the doings of some of the local birds: including tui, bellbirds, weka, and kereru. The property is a straightforward drive away from Nelson, which allows for a very nice balance between town and country! We appreciated the opportunity to stay in a place that is special and out of the ordinary. Thank you.

Beautiful view and unique home

We stayed at 6 different bachs while traveling the south island and this was one of our favorites. The view is outstanding and the home comfortable and unique. Also loved talking with the friendly owner. Loved the area and not far from Nelson

A blast from the past.

The property & it's owner are unique. Rachel is such a tremendous host & the house & it's position screams for you to relax. A very well made, warm & friendly home, with it's wattle & daub walls taking you back in history. Aspects of the inside make it feel centuries old. We will return.

gorgeous home

A beautiful spacious house with striking views to Pepin Island. Well stocked kitchen for eating in on the generous verandah. Close to terrific walks..estuary, Cable Bay walkway ; kayaking around Pepin ; swimming;eating fish and chips at the Cable Bay cafe ;and a short trip to Nelson for markets, gallery, any re-stocking. Great host with advice on what to do/ where to explore.

We enjoyed our stay, loved the views and the wildlife around us.

We enjoyed our stay, loved the views and the wildlife around us. Good hot water supply, all the basics for cooking and washing up etc were supplied. Very peaceful and beautiful. Easy driving to Nelson, Picton and beyond. Plenty of space inside the house for all on wet days.

the house and the view are exquisite, every morning the sun was pouring into the kitchen and pulling

the house and the view are exquisite, every morning the sun was pouring into the kitchen and pulling back the curtains in our bedroom revealed the surrounding hills and garden/bush. There were quail, thrush and wekas on the lawn at odd times, two wood pigeon and two Tuis in trees in front of the deck. Kitchen had everything you could possibly need and basics were aplenty for us to use. No dishwasher and no TV suited us fine but some people might miss these. Excellent laundry. Drive to beaches.
