Enjoy a real farm experience only 10mins from town. Sheep, pigs, cows and goats to see.
The house sits on top of a ridge overlooking native bush and farmland with views of the Tasman Sea in the distance. The property is a 75 acre farm close to town.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR STAY
* You are able to visit the animals any time. Feed the sheep.
* Tea and plunger coffee making facilities in your room
* Plenty of helpful tips and advice about activities and where to eat out
* Comfortable beds and pillows
* Huge, family or large group, sized room
* Small refrigerator in your room
* Free wifi
* TV and DVD player (no cable TV)
* Private bathroom with shower and bath.
* Plenty of reading material about the West Coast
* A warm, relaxing and friendly environment
* Great memories
EXTRAS ON REQUEST
* Outdoor fire can be set and lit for you
* Small amounts of laundry can done by me for stays of 2 days or more
* Toys and books for children
* Light breakfast of cereal, homemade yogurt and baking.
* Our house is completely off-grid. All our power comes from a solar panel array. All our water is rainwater collected from the roof. Many of the features in the house are from building recyclers.

As we are off-grid, we must be a little more careful with our power. We do not have a microwave, dryer or air conditioning.

Easy drive to Punakaiki, Franz Joseph, Hokitika Gorge and Lake Kaniere. 5mins to the beach and river, 10mins to town.

Laundry can be done by arrangement. Clothes are hung to dry.

Michelle has thought of everything! She was very helpful with advice for what to do in Hokitika, everything suggested was fantastic.The homestead is absolutely beautiful, and has a wonderful story behind it. We felt at home immediately, and the farm animals were a huge bonus.We only stayed a night, and all agreed we wished we could stay longer. Of all the places we stayed in New Zealand, this was #1. Thank you, Michelle!

Michelle and Garth's farm is very remote and quiet but only a short drive away from Hokitika.

Michelle and Garth's farm is very remote and quiet but only a short drive away from Hokitika. Adorable farm animals, lovely big room, scrumptious homemade breakfast and clean bathroom. Definitely visit the Glow Worm Dell after dark on SH6 and enjoy a meal at the Beachfront Hotel Oceanview restaurant.

No kitchen but all the essentials for breakfast provided, including deliciously fresh products from the farm.

Really lovely house, lots of cool quirky things to look at. The bathroom has a lovely claw-foot bath! The bedroom is huge, easily big enough for all 4 of us. Really interesting ornaments and souvenirs, all set out on upcycled shelves, eclectic mix of furniture and vintage bits and pieces. Super-comfortable beds, toys and books for the kids, homemade muesli and yoghurt from the farm. fresh fruit and Havana coffee all in the room! Perfect distance from Hokitika.. easy drive to town for dinner.

Very quiet and restful.

Very quiet and restful. its a beautiful old house with lots of character and a really comfortable feeling. We had a great time wandering around the yard and checking out the animals, especially the wee piggies!

We loved our stay ! So peaceful and at the same time very close to Hokitika.

We loved our stay ! So peaceful and at the same time very close to Hokitika.Enjoyed very much communicating with Michelle and her husband. Lovely exchanges around a glass of wine...Our boys loved the place and a big thank you to Michelle for showing them little lambs ! They will remember the lambs "lollies" ! Thank you so much for sharing your kitchen and dining table with us ! We will make sure we will come back to your place if we travel in this lovely area !

My family of 4 had an enjoyable 2 night stay at the Blue Spur Farmstay. Michelle and her husband Garth are very sincere and welcoming hosts with an in-depth knowledge of the area. They gave us excellent recommendations on places to visit and dine. We also enjoyed interacting with the friendly and funny animals on their property :) A wonderful option if you are looking for accommodation in the area!

The property is exactly as described on the site - close to Hokitika however offering a unique combination of rural lifestyle, privacy, stunning views, and a sense of homely and comfortable living amoung many treasures collected over the years. This special property offers a chance for a genuine NZ experience often not accessible to most travellers. We will highly recommend this special property and its committed owners. Enjoy!
