A quaint island farming community great for bird watching, berry picking and boating. It's truly a world removed from the hustle and bustle yet only a 45 minute drive to downtown Vancouver! The moment you drive over our 116 year old Westham Island bridge, take a deep breath and exhale into peace and tranquility. With only 200 residents on the island, quiet nights and happy days are in the forecast! The island is home to the famous George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary and Alaksen National Wildlife area where you are certain to bump in to a beaver, hawk or eagle. The island houses several working farms that produce the best berries, pumpkins and farm fresh produce in the lower mainland. There are multiple farms open to u pick berry picking in the summer, along with the sunflower festival in the autumn, but we cannot forget pumpkin season. Get out into the field and choose your very own pumpkin to carve for Halloween! In the summer, take one of the bicycles up to Emma Lea Farms to grab a fresh berry milkshake. You wont' regret it. Our quiet little community is so close to the city that even Ubers and Taxi's will come right to the house to pick you up! Have a boat? Bring it! There is a public boat launch 5 minutes away. Get out on to the open sea and catch your dinner, then spend the evening around the fire pit or in the hot tub listening to the farm sounds.
