We absolutely loved this property and Carmen and Jim! They were so kind and hospitable. It was warm and inviting. We referred to it as home away from home! We will definitely stay there again if we return to the area.

This was our second time staying here and it definitely will not be our last. We absolutely love this place and the owners (and sweet Cooper) make the stay even more special. We have made so many memories here - we even shed a few tears pulling out! It’s a place that feels like another home to us. Thank you for going above and beyond in every detail! I can guarantee you will not be disappointed staying here - we are talking about coming back already!

We liked the fact that the property was located away from traffic & other vacationers. The grounds were expansive, scenic & peaceful. The hosts live right next door & make themselves available if you need anything. They are gracious & accommodating without being overbearing. The cottage was clean & well stocked & has games, books & activities for all ages. We especially liked the visits from their dog if we were outside at the same time.

First time to this area of SD as a family. The cabin was perfect. The process was super easy and everything was better than expected. First time booking a vrbo and our entire family enjoyed the cabin. The host was amazing and communication was great. Will definitely be booking Bison Pines again!

Bison Pines is an exceptional property. Very clean with all the amenities in a cabin that you need for a very comfortable stay. Its location is in between the city limits of Hot Springs and Custer. Country views but not far from city limits. Scenery is beautiful and host is very friendly. If you want a peaceful getaway, this place will not disappoint.

Bison Pines is truly a beautiful and peaceful home away from home. So happy we found Bison Pines instead of staying at a local motel. The hosts, Carmen and Jim were very helpful with any questions we had. They have thought of everything a family would need in the cabin. Truly blessed to spend 8 days in Bison Pines while celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary!!!Venus & David

If I could give 50 stars I would. Jim and Carmen are the best hosts! Carmen was in contact prior to our stay with helpful info and made sure we had everything we needed. She went above and beyond when my partner was injured hiking, providing us with cold packs and medical supplies. The cabin was super clean, well decorated and the amenities like dishes and cooking utensils were high quality. The king size bed was very comfy and the two twin beds looked equally cushy. The cabin was very well stocked with everything a traveler might need. Carmen and Jim are friendly and happy to provide info about the area and we even got to go feed the burros at the same time as they did, so we got the local info. We almost felt like we were visiting friends. Their dog, Cooper was a joy, well behaved and sweet as can be. The property is about 20 miles south of Custer, so it's close to Custer State Park, MT. Rushmore, hot springs and Crazy Horse Monument, as well as rock hounding sites. There's plenty to do in the surrounding area, but their property is so nice that just spending time relaxing there is great. We can't wait to come back!!!

"As experienced travelers who have stayed in numerous vacation rentals across the US and Europe, we can confidently say this is the loveliest place we have ever stayed. At 60, comfort is important to us, and this property delivered perfectly. It was immaculately clean and stocked with every conceivable amenity—from a fully equipped kitchen to plush towels and all those extra items you usually worry about forgetting. The king bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows were so perfect we didn't even need our own travel pillows!The hosts are phenomenal, friendly, and highly responsive. We loved being greeted by their sweet pup! The homey touches, like their branded merchandise, board games, cozy blankets, and the BBQ grill, made it special. We loved sitting outside to watch the sunrises and sunsets. The only thing missing is a washer and dryer, but the incredible value, hospitality, and comfort make this an absolute gem. Im only allowed 8 photos but the pictures don't do it justice ...A 10-star experience—highly recommended!"

First class accommodation! Plenty of comfortable furniture and beds, and first class linens and towels. Host was super friendly with prompt replies to texts. Even their dog was super nice and friendly!

Peaceful retreat in South Dakota

We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful surroundings and wildlife. The hosts are amazing and we had a great time visiting with them. Close enough to Custer State Park to drive in every day to see and enjoy the sites in the Black Hills area and come back for a relaxing evening.
