Cottage by the Bay, "A Calm and Peaceful Retreat"

By Honolulu Ordinance, 22-7, (Bill 41) "This property may not be rented for less than 30 consecutive days. Rental prices will not be reduced or adjusted based on the number of days the rental is actually used or occupied" we can only book a reservation once every 30 days with the minimum being 30 days, please contact the owner for more information and to answer your questions.
The Cottage by the Bay is located in a quiet Hawaii Kai neighborhood. It is attached to the main house with its own private entrance steps from a quiet path leading to the Portlock seaside with beautiful views, sunsets and a small beach. The cottage sleeps 2 people with plenty of room to call home for a few days or weeks. It is a large studio cottage furnished with a queen size bed and a futon couch which converts into a double bed, a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, mini-refrigerator/freezer, Krupp's coffee maker, toaster, blender, hot water pot and necessary utensils and dishes. The private bathroom has a shower stall. Hair dryer, linens and beach and bath towels are provided. For your comfort, the cottage is air conditioned, (a quiet split system), a 37' flat screen TV, cable, HBO and Showtime and free WiFi access. An Ironing board and iron, beach chairs and beach umbrella are also provided. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage or on the lanai.

Wonderful Cottage Stay

Everything was simply perfect, just as described and much more! This is a lovely neighborhood, close to top spots you will want to visit, yet out of the downtown crowds. Our host was extremely accommodating. The cottage is spacious and has everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again!

East Honolulu - next to Koko Crater and Hanauma Bay

Ron is a wonderful host! He is very responsive and helpful with letting us know about the new rules for out of state visitors visiting certain state parks requiring registration in advance. There is a tiny little beach a two minute walk from the cottage. It was a nice place to star watch and look at the city lights. Hawaii Kai is a pleasant, quiet town. We were able to walk to Kona Brewing Co too! The cottage has lots of towels and beach towels, body boards, beach chairs, a/c, nice basket of snacks, mini fridge, mini microwave, kitchen sink. We were able to visit North Shore, Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Kailua easily from the cottage. We would definitely book with Ron again in the future. Mahalo for your hospitality!

It was a great place to stay!

Ron was so accommodating and attentive! Property was described well and very accurate. Beach was a short walk away and had beautiful sunsets, perfect! Great place to stay out of the city. Small strip mall up the road with coffee and food options, and a Leonard's donut truck!

Amazing vacation

Cute cottage, very clean. Property had everything we needed, beach chairs, cooler and beach towels! Great location, out of the craziness of Waikiki. Great neighborhood restaurants and grocery stores. Close to hikes and beaches. Owner Ron was helpful and friendly.

Cottage By the Bay is a great place to stay!

Very comfortable, quiet, safe place to stay. Ron is a great host. Very friendly and accommodating! We had a very relaxing time. Very short walk to the beautiful bay and great sunsets!

Great spot outside Honolulu

Great little spot outside the craziness of Honolulu. Close enough to pop on over to Honolulu for activities, but it was so nice to come back to this peaceful little spot.

Cottage was clean, cozy, and had all of the amenities we needed. Location was great for snorkeling at Hanauma Bay and for exploring the island. Ron was a kind, responsive host.

Our cottage by the sea

We really enjoyed our stay. The location and quite neighborhood are the biggest pluses. Ron is gracious and helpful host who checked in on us and ensured our well-being. He offered blankets when it got cold and even allowed us to use his laundry for a load. Defi. Will stay again if we revisit.

Good location to explore the East

This property has it’s pros and cons. It was clean and a good location to explore the East side and North shore. Leonard’s bakery truck is across the highway! It is not oceanfront and there is very little privacy because it is attached to the main house (Used to be a garage?) The beach in the description is not a place you want to spend a day at. It was clean, good location and has a homey feel but lack of privacy.

The owner and the cottage are fantastic. This place was perfect for my friend and I coming back to the island for a short vacation. It had everything we needed and more. Have already recommended it to friends and family.

Clean, comfortable and kind!

We loved staying in Ron's ohana. It is a beautifully (and apparently newly) renovated studio, that is comfortable and less than a block's walk to the beach. We appreciated the welcome basket with snacks, and had everything we needed with a kitchenette and stocked bathroom. It is quiet at night, and the beach feels private, with only a handful of people watching the sunset with you each evening. Ron was a great host, and we enjoyed spending time with him too! Highly recommend.

Perfect Hawaiian Cottage By The Sea

This property is truly a gem! The bijou cottage has everything needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. The very short walk to the beach makes this location perfect! Hanauma Bay and the Blowhole are just minutes away, as are a great selection of restaurants and shopping. Ron was so very helpful and flexible with us, even providing distilled water!!!! The refrigerator was stocked with cold water and the snack basket lovely (chips, cookies and popcorn). The beach gear and towels were plentiful and the cottage itself was immaculate! This location cannot be beat!!!

live like a local right next to private beach

We loved our stay here, the cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our Oahu time. Location is perfect for exploring haunama bay, Kailua, manoa falls, and only steps from a small beach where you can watch sunset/sunrise with total peace and privacy. Ron was really helpful and easy to communicate with. Our 5and 2 year olds had a great time too. Thanks!

Adorable East Honolulu guest cottage

Stayed with wife and two kids, little cramped for us but would be perfect for just a couple, host was welcoming and generous (did a load of laundry for us, had some coffee pods and popcorn for us) beautiful lanai , really everything you would need for the visit is there, would return in a heartbeat Mahalo Ron!

A Peaceful Retreat

This property was exactly what we were looking for during our stay on Oahu. Away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, but close enough to the action to get where we needed! The cottage was clean, comfortable, quaint and roomier than expected. We had plenty of privacy, an attentive host and the bonus of being steps from an adorable little beach with a view of Diamond Head Crater. This was the perfect place for us!

Quiet and peaceful little cottage

The owner Ron was so nice. Friendly and quiet neighborhood feel. Bathroom very small but lots of nice shampoos, lotions, etc. Kitchenette well stocked of various k-cup varieties, chips, nuts, cookies. Nice to sit at patio table for meals and coffee. Short walk to beach.

Gorgeous and inviting

From the beginning to closing, it was such an easy going process. Ron was absolutely a very kind gentleman who takes pride in his home and his surrounding. It was great to travel the island and come back to a comfortable studio. Waking in the mornings to birds and the shore was the best. Having coffee or tea on the lanai was a treat while breathing in fresh plumeria fragrances and seeing the beautiful bougainvillea surrounding then garden. My daughter and her friend/teammate enjoyed their nightly dinners on the beach watching the sunsets while then walking to the ice cream shop not too far away. Well, nothing on then island is too far away. The furthest place is only an hour or so away. Seeing family and friends while knowing we had a place here was so nice. We would most definitely make our stay here as a family next time we are in O’ahu. Much Mahalos Ron! 🤙🏽🌺😘

Completely satisfied

Ron’s property was away from the touristy areas and just off the beach (just steps down the beach access alley). The guest house is attached to the main house and had everything a hotel would have including a book of local things to do and restaurants. We never had want for anything while staying in the “cottage”. The place was clean and well cared for. The general area is clean and away from the less desirable living areas in Oahu. Ron is a super host and made us feel very welcome. Just a short distance from local restaurants and about 20-30 minutes from Waikiki. I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to Honolulu. Great place to stay!

Lovely cottage

Enjoyed Ron and his little mother-in-law type cottage. Near everything, yet tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It was perfect for the way we like to travel. Ron was a perfect balance of being available and leaving us to ourselves.

Great stay on Oahu

This was a great location with plenty of great restaurants nearby and easy access to some beautiful beaches. Apartment was clean with plenty of space for two people. Highly recommend.
