Great accommodations for my family get away. Comfortable and very clean. Very private area, yet close enough to run and get things you may have forgotten. Fully stocked kitchen, with utinsils, dinnerware, and cookware. Amazing, accommodating and very helpful Host!

If you are looking for a nice little private getaway this is it. The lake is beautiful. Fishing awesome. The owners response time to any questions is immediate. We will definitely be back.

Great stay! Nice, private property

My family (plus pup) has a great stay at this property. Everything was as pictured, and the cabin was very clean. We enjoyed the fishing and the kayaks for a week away.

Such a neat property!! In between 2 bodies of water there are very few places for a dog to get lost! They had a blast exploring the grounds, we enjoyed fishing and kayaking. It had everything I expected and more. We'll be back!!!

Spectacular Location

With a small lake on one side and the river in the other, it made water activities extremely convenient. The fairly remote location made for a quiet and relaxing weekend. Would highly recommend this property.

Quiet, Tranquil Stay

Stayed on property as a base to meet family/friends in the area. Stay was quiet. Property was nice and the host was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely keep in mind another stay when back in the area.

Loved The Lake House

We took a long weekend and stayed at The Lake House for the first time. This is a wonderful place. Peaceful and quiet, we enjoyed listening to the birds and watching the water. It was clean and comfortable and felt like home. Highly recommend!

Relaxing getaway

My husband and I had a very relaxing weekend. Everything was clean and very nice. We didn’t catch many fish but the calmness and quiet is exactly what we needed. The host was quick to respond to our questions and would love to come back!

Serene Getaway

This was a really nice getaway for my husband and I for a few days. The cabin was very clean and welcoming. We enjoyed going out on the lake on the paddle boat. There were so many turtles and they were fun to watch. It was just a nice, quiet place to recharge for a few days.

Wonderful Lakehouse

This property was perfect for my family. We enjoyed fishing in the private lake on one side of the lake house and the river on the other. It was fantastic! Adam was a great host!

Great private lake getaway

Great place for a weekend getaway. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The location is great with a private lake on one side and a river on the other. Plenty for everyone to do. We were able to fish and play outside with my toddler. Great place for all ages! It was a nice short trip for us and just what we needed!

Loved the location!

We loved our stay in the Lake House. The photos were very accurate, and the whole place was nice and clean. We saw so many turtles and frogs in the pond and our daughter loved the paddle boat. It was also easy to use the dock on the Wapsi side to get our canoe in and out. It is a very peaceful, quiet setting but still close to the conveniences of town. We hope to return!

Beautiful

It’s was freezing cold and snowy while we stayed there. It would be amazingly fun there in the summer, but it is absolutely peaceful sitting out in the deck while it was snowing watching a bald Eagle fly by. I will absolutely rent again!

We love the privacy of the area. The dog ran all week. Quiet and surrounded by water. If the fishing had been better, it would have been perfect.

Whether it's enjoying a cocktail by the fire, kayaking down the Wapsipinicon River (affectionately known as the Wapsi), or paddle boating around Goose Lake, my love for nature is matched by an appreciation for life's conveniences. Central air conditioning, wifi, a warm shower, and a queen-sized bed with quality linens are just as essential to me as the feel of sand between my toes.

Our Story: A Journey from Personal Retreat to Shared Paradise

The Lake House, nestled on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River and Goose Lake in Independence, Iowa, has been a part of our lives for many years. It's a place where memories have been made for over a century. As our lives grew busier, with boys growing up and our jobs demanding more of our time, we realized that we couldn't enjoy The Lake House as much as we did when the boys were little. So, we decided to share our part-time love with others. Our vision is for guests to create their own memories in this idyllic setting, where the pace of life slows down, and nature's beauty comes to the forefront.
