Welcome to Captain's Quarters. Enjoy fabulous views of Canyon Ferry Lake and the Belt Mountains. Stroll to the lake for some fishing or marvel at the wonders of the night sky after a day of discovering all that Montana has to offer. Captain's Quarters is an ideal place to unwind and rejuvenate.
The open living room/kitchen is fully equipped. The master bedroom boasts a king bed with a spectacular lake view. In the back bedroom the two oversized twin beds can be converted into a king-size bed. The expansive spa-like bathroom features double sinks, a spacious walk-in shower with dual shower heads, plush towels, shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, a hair dryer, and a variety of toiletries. A stackable washer/dryer is available with laundry tablets, bleach, and dryer sheets. The outdoor patio showcases a new hot tub, a gas grill, and outdoor tables and chairs. Smart TVs are provided in both the living room and back bedroom. Lots of basics are provided.

If you need more space, I also have a studio unit with a private entrance and bath available on the second level: VRBO # 2179416.

Canyon Ferry is situated on the Missouri River amidst the Big and Little Belt Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountains that extend from Mexico to Canada. Our area is rich in year-round outdoor activities, or you can venture into town to explore the historic charm of Helena.

Quiet hours are 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. There is a one hour limit for visitors. Smoking allow on the bench in the front yard.

My son and I spent Christmas at Kathi's Captain’s Quarters near Helena, and it was unforgettable. The view alone is worth the trip—this home isn’t just near the lake, it is on the lake. Waking up to sunrise over the water while sitting in the hot tub felt like a gift in itself.The cabin was spotless and stocked far beyond what we expected. Every detail felt thoughtful, from the kitchen supplies to the little conveniences that made our stay effortless. Kathi even decorated for Christmas, which made the space feel warm, festive, and welcoming the moment we walked in.The location is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We loved relaxing by the fireplace, and we were delighted when deer wandered right up to the door. It felt like stepping into a winter postcard.Kathi was an exceptional host—responsive, kind, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. She even watched our little dog, Mazy, so we could explore the area without worry. That level of care is rare and so appreciated.We will absolutely be returning again and again. The Captain’s Quarters has become one of our favorite places, and we can’t wait for our next stay.

Beautiful Location

My wife and I enjoyed our stay during our visit to Helena. The host has done an amazing job stocking the property and we found it extremely comfortable. There is a fully stocked kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a family room with a couch, fireplace, and nice TV setup.

A little trip to the lake

Beautiful property! We had everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Soft, thick towels and bedding. All you can do is stare at the lake. And we caught a couple of trout! Definitely will be back!

Sparkling clean with amazing views!

It is a beautiful new space that is sparkling clean. She has everything you would ever need in there and more. She is available if needed, but also gives you space if you prefer. We will definitely stay here again when visiting family at the lake.

Beautiful cozy apartment

The view and location are amazing. We loved watching the chipmunks, hummingbirds, and deer pass by and the marina was right across the street where we launched our boat. The host was kind and very accommodating to all of our needs! The apartment was beautiful, had everything we needed, and comfortably fit our family of 5.

Fantastic stay!

Start your day with sunrise on the lake

Wonderful place to get away and catch your breath. Enjoy tranquil views of the water during the day and an inspiring appearance of the Milky Way by night. Kathi is an amazing host who has thought of everything to make your stay memorable.

I am a people person. I enjoy all the different people who come to Montana. I was lucky enough to spend my childhood summers on Lake Okoboji, Iowa. Later our family moved to Colorado, where I fell in love with the mountains. Fast forward many years, and here I am sitting on my deck drinking my morning coffee while enjoying the cool breeze overlooking the sparkling waters of Canyon Ferry Lake with the Belt Mountains as a backdrop.

I often have my Merlin app on to identify the numerous birds in the area. I am up to about 100 different species in my lifetime list.

The ospreys that nest a few hundred yards away are often seen bringing fish to the nest. Last year, I saw one of the parents fly over with a fairly large, live snake.

THE VIEWS!!! I never tire of the ever-changing, amazing views. Also, it is a quiet place with easy access to town.

On January 16th, 2019, I was with my contractor & his helper standing on the subfloor of the second story of my future home. The lake had frozen two days before. We watched as about a dozen experienced skaters enjoyed the perfect (although too thin for my tastes) ice as a drone filmed from overhead. After many years of coming to Canyon Ferry on weekends, I bought this property. It had a 1965 untitled double-wide. In October of 2018, I scrapped the property & started building. I designed a home to be multifunctional. I wanted it to be able to meet a variety of needs for today & as life changes. With the help of some very talented people, my home exceeds everything I could have imagined.

I having done some traveling, so I know what it takes to make a great vacation rental. I want you to be able to slow down, unwind, relax and have a stress free vacation. I know what I like in a vacation rental. I provide an inviting, well equipped property for your enjoyment. Your comfort is very important to me. I have high end beds and linens. I provide plenty of laundry products, shampoo, dish soap & dishwasher tablets, coffee, etc. Our well is excellent, so no need for bottled water. The kitchen is well appointed & stock with many basics. I leave non-perishables. If you need something just holler. I am involved in every cleaning to insure the unit meets my standards & exceeds yours.
