Cub Creek Mt Getaway Near Wintergreen and the Blue Ridge Parkway

Come and enjoy all that the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer - ski, snowboard or golf at the Wintergreen Resort, swim and fish at Sherando Lake, drive or bike on the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike along the Appalachian trail, visit the local breweries - all within minutes from our mountain getaway.
This comfortable rental apartment in an extraordinary setting, is attached to a large rustic home on 20 acres of forested mountain side. The house and apartment were built in 2003 by your hosts Alan and Ann Hodge.
The apartment has one bedroom on the second floor with a queen size bed. Additional guests can sleep on a full sized futon in the living room. A pack-n-play crib is also available. You can make meals in your own well-equipped kitchen and have coffee or hot chocolate while enjoying mountain views. We are located just four miles outside the entrance to the Wintergreen Resort and two miles from the Devil's Backbone brewery.

Peaceful cabin

Perfect place to relax and enjoy a natural setting. Host was helpful and responsive to my wife and I. Great value, and we would definitely come back.

This was a very nice, comfortable, and well-appointed rental property that (like its name suggests) is a perfect get-away location for one or two adult people. The bed and pillows were reasonably comfortable, and while the bathroom with walk-in shower was a little tight, it was fine for one person, but would not be ideal for a couple to use. Overall, I'd rate it as an 8 or 9, out of a possible 10. I thank the hosts for providing me with such a nice weekend get-away option! I truly enjoyed my stay!

Delightful rural retreat with great proximity to best hiking and parks along Blue Ridge Parkway

This property is thoughtfully appointed and well stocked with everything you need for a great getaway. There are board games, movies and a game room for entertainment in bad weather and the kitchen is loaded with everything you need to prepare meals. An added bonus is the convenient and mess-free electric grill. My sons and I were able to hike in nearby Sherando Lake and along the Blue Ridge Parkway as premier spots such as Humpback Rocks and Crabtree Falls are a short drive away.

Relaxing and peaceful location

I stayed here for a little over a month while I was waiting to close on my home so I could start work. Alan was a great host the location was clean and well kept. Has all the amenities you would need(stove microwave fridge washer dryer) had a few fires by the small creek on the property which I really enjoyed. There is plenty of hiking near by I did the part of the Appalachian trail, white rock falls, and a trail at shernado lake. Would recommend a short or long term stay here !

Musical Creek

The apartment offered a quiet spot for our extended stay. It has all the necessary components one needs, including a washer and dryer. *The musical creek was the surprise to enjoy day and night. The owner was helpful and quickly responsive to our needs during the winter and into spring. He was friendly but allowed us our privacy. We regularly took pleasure in long walks paralleling a beautiful, wide creek at a nearby farm park. We feel grateful to have found the property near enough to attend to our business but nestled in private wooded acreage for peacefulness, also.

Great property. Roasted marshmallows at the fire pit one night. TV worked. Kitchen plenty big for the 2 of us for 3 nights. It was everything we needed.

Good Communication & Comfortable

We found the property in the dark relatively easy and they had lights along the path to the house to help us see. Ample parking area for our mini van and the check in/out process was very easy. A queen/full size bed upstairs and a futon downstairs, a nice living area and everything you would need if wanting to use a kitchen on your stay.

We could hear the water in the creek from our apartment, lovely space

All Around Great Time

Absolutely loved the region. Very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, multiple breweries/wineries, a beautiful driving range, and a . There is even a drive-in theater about an hour's drive down the Blue Ridge pkwy. The hosts were very nice and accommodating. The unit was clean, well organized, had all the comforts of home, and was spacious enough for my husband and I for the couple of months we were there. The property is also very well manicured (lawn maintenance, outdoor lights, maintained pathways and driveway). We will be back for longer next time!

Temporary quarters during restoration.

The Cub Creek Hideaway was a fantastic place for me stay while my own apartment was being restored after a major water disaster. The owner was very welcoming, helpful and kind. The apartment was clean and had everything I needed. The location is peaceful and serene.

Perfect for One or Two!—Exactly As Described

A great little place close to Wintergreen. Very clean, no surprises. I arrived around 10 pm, and was surprised at first by how tucked away it is. Arriving at night on my own, I started to worry a bit that I’d picked something too far off the beaten path. I was pleasantly surprised to see the apartment attached to large, beautiful, well-lit home. Although it was late, the owner came out to greet me. After that, I was left to myself, which is exactly what I was looking for. Noteworthy pros: Decent cotton sheets. For those of us who sleep hot, I don’t need to say more. 10 mins to Wintergreen. Want to go skiing on your own or without a lot of hassle? Great place for that. Has what you need to cook. Cons: If you are looking for simple and straightforward, none, really. Maybe bring some extra paper towels. Only one delivery place that I could discern, so either come prepared to cook, or grab food on your way in. Thanks to Alan and Ann for sharing their home.

My friends and I stayed at this VRBO spot for a girls weekend/ski trip. It was in a great location and tucked away on a back road. Very close to wintergreen (15 ish) and 151 breweries and wineries! Devils backbone is very very close! The spot was cute and quaint with everything we needed. Plenty of linens, roku, and easy lock box access for the key. There was even a friendly dog that roamed the property! Great weekend getaway!

Great ski weekend

Flawless booking & checking process. It felt very private despite being attached to owners home. The location was perfect, quiet setting, less than 10 min to ski wintergreen but still close to gas, pizza/restaurants/off mountain ski rentals. We'll stocked kitchen& staples, tons of towels & extra linens. Plenty of space on 2 levels with separate entrance. The two of us stayed for long weekend, but our son & his girlfriend came over to hang out & eat after skiing & it was plenty spacious. Would definitely recommend & stay again.
