Unfortunately, our experience did not match our expectations. On arrival there were a large number of mosquitoes inside the house and, despite bringing DEET and subsequently purchasing five plug-in repellents, sprays, coils and citronella candles, we were bitten throughout our stay. When we initially asked whether there were any mosquito-control products at the property, we were advised to purchase them from a local shop.We were also disappointed with the outside space. The garden was considerably more overgrown than shown in the listing photographs, with extensive bamboo surrounding the property. The mosquito activity around the pool was so intense that we only used it once during our week-long stay, despite the pool being one of the main reasons we chose the property.We stayed during very hot weather. We were aware that the property did not have air conditioning, but there were only three freestanding fans for the house and these were old and noisy, which made sleeping difficult.The host was responsive to messages and did replace the pillows when we raised concerns about them, which was appreciated. However, overall we spent far more of our holiday managing the conditions at the property than we would have expected and unfortunately would not choose to stay here again.
