Family Fun Relaxing at Pristine Lake Cottage

The stunning views of Middle Lake will greet you as you walk into this immaculately maintained 2 bedroom 1 bathroom lakefront home with private outdoor patio and sand bottom beach. We are located 5 miles (7 minutes) north of Hastings, Michigan, voted one of the 100 Best Small Towns in America, with many restaurants, retail stores, and local events.

Whether you are looking for a fun family escape or a beautiful serene location while staying connected to work with blazing fast internet, you will enjoy what Middle Lake living has to offer.

The interior of the home is beautifully decorated in coastal causal decor with an airy open kitchen, dining area and living room boosting 180-degree views of Middle Lake. With 2 bedrooms (one queen size bed and another with 2 twin-XL beds) you can expect to comfortably sleep 4 adults/children. An additional day bed and/or a luxury air mattress available upon request allowing you to sleep 5 guests. The 2 twin -XL beds can be configured to a King size by the host with advance notice. A walk-in spa-like shower, full size washer/dryer, home office w/high speed internet, large closets for storage, central air-conditioning, fully stocked kitchen and coffee/tea bar will delight you in your home away from home. Accommodations include a large recreation game room: SmartTV, xbox, wifi, movies, comfy chairs, fireplace, refrigerator, air hockey and ping pong.

Enjoy swimming or lounging with a sandy private beach (75 ft) or fishing on our all-sports 134-acre lake where water skiers, tubers and personal watercraft are welcomed. For outdoor fun we provide yard games, volleyball net, two bikes w/helmets, two kayaks, a swim platform, fishing dock, fishing poles, water toys, hammocks, outdoor patio with lights, gas grill, outdoor hot water shower and everything you need for a cozy campfire with complimentary S'mores kit and firewood at water's edge. Bring your boat (DNR maintained public boat launch next door). There's plenty of room to park your boat trailer on-site. Or, contact a local boat rental company. They will deliver/set up a pontoon rental to our dock for you! Contact us for a list of local options.

Peaceful Getaway

The home was very clean and well stocked with everything you might need. Just steps from the water, all we had to do was show up and enjoy. Check in was very smooth and the amenities were as advertised. We especially enjoyed the kayaks and game room. The outdoor seating options were great to soak in the view or a enjoy a campfire.

Lake House Vacation

A great place for a 4-person vacation in Michigan. A beautiful, very well maintained 2 bedroom home on a quiet lake. It was a perfect home base for us while in Michigan to visit family in Lansing and Holland. And the owners were super helpful and very responsive. Definitely recommend!

Just what the Doctor ordered.

The home was just the right distance to Hastings. Absolutely spotless. Beautifully maintained grounds. With extremely quiet neighbors. Many extras for children of all ages. Fish, swim, boating, volleyball, campfire pit, sandbox complete with cars and trucks Not to mention a wide variety of indoor games for those rainy days. The charming owner goes above and beyond when it comes to extra amenities. From fresh flowers to sweets and things you may have forgotten. A coffee bar that gives Starbucks a run for their money. We will make this a regular stop.

Weekend getaway before college.

We planned a last minute weekend trip before our daughter went off to college. The cottage is just as you see it. They really have thought of everything. The game room was amazing to have when it rained, definitely kept us all entertained and we didnā€™t feel we were missing out on any fun with the weather. We also had a great time kayaking and swimming, not to mention being around the fire pit making sā€™more. We hope to be able to return next year!

Amazing Host! Beautiful property!

My husband, myself, and our three young children (ages 4, 3, and 1) spent Memorial Day weekend at this beautiful property! The weather wasnā€™t necessarily in our favor the entire trip but we still had a great time! The property is beautiful and clean and Kim was an amazing host! Weā€˜ve stayed in many rental properties over the years and never had a more attentive or kind host!

Amazing!

I have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties over the years and I must say this one is my very favorite! The home itself is adorable, very clean and impeccably decorated. Every detail was meticulously thought out by the wonderful owner Kim. We do appreciated the comfy bed and awesome game room The property is on a picture perfect site on the lake with everything you need to enjoy the lake. We were helping my daughter move from Tennessee to Michigan and got in very late. We didnā€™t have time to stop for dinner and to our wonderful surprise there was a pasta dinner waiting for us to make. Kimā€™s Kindness and communication was by far the best! Kim even took us on a tour of the lake in her new boat! We will be making this property an annual event for sure!!! Thank you Kim!

Awesome Time!!

This property had EVERYTHING that one would need to ensure a wonderful time for all. My 20 year old son enjoyed the Kayaks and my husband and I had fun on the paddleboat. In addition, Kim had everything that one might forget and require a run out for. That was a wonderful touch! We enjoyed fires in the firepit and loved the outdoor dining area. On our one rainy day, we all had fun in the rec room with ping pong- air hockey and video games. Kim was great to communicate with and made everything so easy. Thanks so much for a wonderful week! (Highly recommend :-)

A lake life gem - impeccable host & everything you need.

We were so fortunate to discover this wonderful gem of a rental for our family vacation in August. We knew Kim was amazing when she sent us an email in advance of our trip to ensure every one of our family members had something to look forward to. The house is beautifully decorated and inviting. From the coffee bar (what a treat!) to the game closet, to a fully stocked kitchen, this rental has everything you need. And her personal touches made you feel so special. The lake was quiet and peaceful, wonderful for swimming and even great fishing right off the dock. Downtown Hastings is delightful and the trip to Grand Rapids is in easy driving distance. I almost don't want everyone to know how great this place is! :)

Home away from home

The whole experience was amazing from the great location, beautiful house, and the special touches Kim added for us and our children. We utilized all the amenities from the swim dock, kayaks, volleyball, swing and hammock, to the fire pit for sā€™mores and nightly bonfires. Also, the game room with air hockey and so many fun things for the kids to do. We can not wait to come back next year!

Outstanding lake cottage

We had a fantastic stay at this VRBO on Middle Lake! The cottage was immaculately decorated and super clean!!!! Our hostess Kim thought of every detail and more. We were overwhelmed by the special touches like the sā€™mores supplies and the specialty coffee provided. Highly recommend this fantastic VRBO!

Clean and comfortable

Great stay at this location! Kim was great to work with and accommodating. Everything was there that we needed plus loved the extra touches like the coffee bar and sā€™mores station. Rode bikes, paddled cayaks, floated in lake. Nice lake location with plenty to satisfy everyone in our family. Highly recommend and would stay again!

Great week at the lake!

Our family had a wonderful time here. The house is beautiful and Kim goes the extra mile to make sure everything you could possibly need is taken care of. Air conditioning is a rare find in lake cottages, though we didnā€™t need it as much since we had perfect weather at the end of June.

The best family getaway

Everything was perfect and so thoughtful - the space was so beautiful and welcoming. Each detail and necessity was considered and provided - from USB outlets to bathrobes to Sā€™mores kit! We have stayed in a lot of places and this one had our every needed predicted and covered. The rec room was awesome for the teenagers. Bikes and kayaks are even ready to go! I loved the full set up in the kitchen and the coffee bar - where you could Keurig, auto-drip, or French press your coffee! We loved it so much, we made another booking for Fall!

Wonderful Experience

This wasnā€™t just another lake house getaway, this was a complete experience. The property pictures tell the story, anything and everything youā€™d want to do with your friends and/or family is available for you. The house is immaculate, and the ownerā€™s attention to detail is second to none. Look no further, this place has everything!

Easily the best vacation rental experience Iā€™ve ever had. Both the property and its owner are amazing. The house has everything you want or need and is spotless. The owner goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and is very good at communicating. Iā€™m already trying to figure out when I can get back for another visit during warmer weather!

Winter escape

The host Kim was easy to work with and proactively provided suggestions for things to do during our Presidents Day weekend visit and indoor and outdoor age-appropriate toys for our kids to use since weather limited our outdoor adventures. Home is well designed and has every amenity you could ask for, from bathroom to kitchen and for entertainment. Super comfortable, with cozy blankets for curling up with a book on a cold winter day. Great night's sleep on comfy beds. Looking forward to our next stay in any season. Hands down the best rental at which we've ever had the pleasure of staying.

Fall Weekend

We had an amazing weekend with friends at Middle Lake! We were able to enjoy the amenities including the kayaks, fire pit and game room! Kim was one of the best hosts Iā€™ve ever experienced. She has thought of everything for her guests. Also, the beds were very comfortable :)

We both value a small-town family focused way of life and are grateful our careers and have allowed us to return to Hastings, Michigan in beautiful Barry County Michigan. We are an active family with two teenage boys who enjoy water sports, fishing, hunting, hanging out with friends and adventure. You will find Middle Lake Vacations is ideally suited for similar active families.

My husband Mike works as a Financial Advisor but also assists the Barry County Sheriff department. I am a pharmacist and director of a neurology-focused medical science liaison team for a pharmaceutical company based out of Indianapolis. We live in Alto, Michigan (20 minutes away) and own a similar lake house one house over from this rental. My parents' full-time home is adjacent to this house. Someone is available 24/7 to assist any needs.

Middle Lake has had special meaning to us our entire lives. I grew up on a dairy farm less than 3 miles away and my husbandā€™s grandpa was an avid fisherman at Middle Lake (especially ice fishing). The story is that he was fishing on Middle Lake when Mikeā€™s grandma went into labor for Mikeā€™s Mom. Middle Lake is the perfect size for a relaxing getaway with all the excitement and fun of an all-sports lake.

At 134 acres with a public boat launch nearby, we find our small speed boat (17 ft) and any size pontoon is a great way to spend a day or week. Excellent for fishing and lake kayaking, the diversity of things to do makes Middle Lake Vacations never a boring moment.

The mornings will great you with the calm tranquil water of Middle Lake, just perfect for an early AM kayak around the 134 acre lake, or bring your fishing boat and catch some fish before others are awake. Mid day is great for longing in the water, sunbathing and relaxing in a hammock. If you seek local culture, check out our many local museums, zoos and historic sites in Hastings, Michigan and the surrounding area.

Evening sunsets are photo worthy (#middlelakevacations). You will find nothing more special than sharing time with loved ones, exchanging stories, and relaxing around an evening campfire while roasting marshmallows with a complimentary smores kit.
