Oceanfront in Hilo Hale Kai Suites - Moana Room - King Bed, Private Bathroom

Hale Kai Hawaii Suites offers four oceanfront rooms (booked individually) and a spectacular, panoramic view of the blue Pacific Ocean and Hilo Bay. We overlook the popular Honolii surfing beach in a peaceful location just 2 miles north of historic Hilo Town. Revel in the best views in Hilo while at our pool and oceanfront lanai!

The Moana Room is a large room with king bed, small table with chairs, desk, WiFi, SMART TV, private bathroom with shower, small fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, hot water pot, toaster, dishes and utensils, ceiling and portable fan, no air conditioning and sliding door to lanai. Continental breakfast items are stocked daily and we invite all guests to swim in the pool or lounge on our oceanfront lanai.

A few NOTES: One parking spot is provided per room in this quiet residential neighborhood. All Guest Rooms are facing the ocean on the lower level of the property and there are over 30 steps down (pictured) to traverse to the rooms. Guests are responsible for carrying their luggage to their rooms. Bookings limited to 2 guests per room (including children). Quiet hours are 9pm to 8am for the comfort of all of our guests, Mahalo!

While at Hale Kai (House on the Ocean) Hawaii, enjoy watching surfers, dolphins, and seasonal humpback whales during their annual migration to the Hawaiian Islands from the north Pacific. Hale Kai Hawaii is recommended in the leading online sites and guidebooks for the Hawaiian Islands, including TripAdvisor, Frommer's, Fodors, Lonely Planet, Off the Beaten Path, Ulysses, Rough, Moon, and Hawaii, The Big Island Revealed.

Our stay was lovely! The room and location was great, easy access into town for dinner. The breakfast was simple but enough for us and was helpful to have already without stopping before the days activities. No AC was ok because we had rainy days but if it was hot and sunny it might have been too much for us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this spot on the water was so pretty! Great bonus to watch the surfers as well. The no air conditioning wasn’t a huge problem for us because it was quite rainy and cool but I’d worry if it was warmer because the screen door doesn’t lock so you can not sleep with it open. The unit did provide 2 fans and a ceiling fan. Breakfast was perfect because we were on the go early most mornings and the things in town would not have been open yet. Contacted us with a number to text upon arrival for any issues or questions but luckily we never needed to use.

This is a great location with a beautiful view, and convenient to town for restaurants and shopping. Our room was clean and inviting. The pool was a welcome feature. In fact, during our stay we canceled something we intended to do in favor of a relaxing afternoon at the pool. It’s also fun to watch all the surfers at the nearby beach from the house. The daily fruit and light breakfast items were a nice touch and greatly appreciated. One note -- the driveway is steep and getting out can be a challenge to negotiate for larger vehicles. We would definitely love to stay here again!

The property was in a beautiful spot on the Hamakua Coast - very close to Hilo and to Angel Farms. The room was clean, the breakfast fruit was fresh and perfect, the bed was very comfortable and everything was very easy. Loved the pool as well - the only thing missing was a jacuzzi!! :) Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect holiday retreat

Hale Kai is simple but has all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The views were beautiful from the lanai and the pool with ocean view was an added bonus. It is the perfect location to explore Hilo.

Views for days!

My husband and I love the location of this rental and have stayed here twice. We always enjoy the daily breakfasts with lots of fresh fruit and the relaxing sounds of the waves. The pool was lovely and secluded. Definitely will stay here again.

Quaint beautiful views - Nice and Relaxing

Property is great, you can hear the ocean, great views, tucked back in a little neighborhood that is close to all the Hilo town activities. Great home base for Volcano exploring and other Hilo activities.

Love this place! Made our Hilo stay absolutely amazing!

We arrived late but the location is amazing, only about 5-10 mins drive to Hilo downtown but the best part is the ocean view in the morning when you have your breakfast. The included breakfast was really good (egg, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastry) and the location was quiet so you can fall asleep to the wave sounds.

B&B at it's best

This is our first B&B and we were very impressed. Great fresh breakfast provided every morning. Beautiful surroundings and sunrise. Not too far from town and excursions. We highly recommend this place and our wonderful host who was always available when needed.

Quiet, beautiful, home base to explore the Hilo area

My wife and I spent three nights in the Moana Room as we explored the Hilo area and it was perfect for our needs. The room was spacious and clean and boasts an amazing view overlooking Hilo Bay. We made use of the pool and hot tub and loved listening to the crashing waves below while drifting off to sleep.

Very enjoyable

We really enjoyed our stay. Being right on the ocean with the beautiful garden out front and a bistro table to enjoy meals on was a favorite aspect. It was easy to find and good location from town. Wonderful fresh fruit daily. Thank you for everything!

Modest accommodation with outstanding views

The massive lanai that wraps around the building connecting each room was the highlight of our stay - we ate our meals out there watching the waves and the surfers nearby. The sunrises here are unreal - and being able to watch them from in the cozy king sized bed made them all the better. The breakfast was modest but delicious, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. The property is quiet and very private. Absolutely would stay here again and again.
