Easy check in process, very clean, comfortable cabin with everything you need supplied. We stayed for a moosehunt so didn't spend much time at the cabin. But, was very comfortable to come back to every evening. I'm sure this is a great place to be in the summer! Thanks!

We had a great stay on Upper Shin Pond. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was very well appointed. We tried a few local activities in the area, including renting an ATV and hiking. It's a lovely spot for a quiet, Maine woods vacation.

My family of four absolutely loved our stay at the Upper Shin Pond cabin. We used the paddle boards and kayaks, including some fishing from the kayaks. My husband and daughter caught a couple of small mouth bass. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed to cook breakfast each morning. The beds were the most comfortable beds I think we have ever had at a vacation rental. Near the cabin are lots of ATV trails, and you can rent an ATV at Shin Pond Village right down the road. We had such a wonderful vacation and would love to return on the future.

This rental was a perfect for a get away with friends. It was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed hiking in Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters and the Penobscot River Trails. All were convenient to this beautiful cabin.

This cabin is nicer than some homes, honestly. What a great place to enjoy Maine’s beauty! It’s so peaceful and beautiful in Mount Chase. The cabin is bright and modern with windows for the views and sunlight, but it’s still cozy and we loved hanging out there. There’s a great deck made to enjoy the shade and sun mix, relax and dry off after swimming in the pond — more like a lake to me. We used the canoe and kayaks. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals with nice stainless pans, chef’s knives, cutting boards, plus nice dishes, glasses, etc. The beds are very comfortable with nice mattresses and sheets. The washer and dryer are high quality and so convenient! Adults and kids enjoyed sitting at the dining table playing games and talking or eating meals. Great lighting throughout the house. Local businesses were great, too. Shin Pond Pub was fun, and Shin Pond Village for breakfast with the kids, we played duck bowling at Birch Pond. We shopped for groceries at Ellis’s Market their service and selection are great. Gabe and Emily communicated clearly with us as and were very responsive to our requests . We highly recommend a vacation here! This is a great cabin and place to enjoy the beauty of Maine.

Amazingly peaceful spot

Our family of five had a perfect stay. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding, endless swimming, fishing every day, camp fires, hiking, a picnic and so much more. We couldn’t ask for anything better. The property was spotless and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return.

Quick snowmobile trip to Maine

We had a great time in Maine snowmobiling. The cabin was beautiful nestled in woods along a lake. It was well equipped and close to Shin Pond and trail system. The owner was very accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!

Winter adventure

Great spot for a winters getaway, self sufficient stay with a comfortable accommodation, we rode snowmobiles on the best trails in the northeast, ice fished, winter hiked, and some tobogganing. Did our breakfast and dinners great kitchen and dining table will book again for sure.

Beautiful Location

We stayed at this location for a long weekend that included the total solar eclipse. The location is beautiful and the cabin is perfect. We were not able to utilize the dock or really get into the woods because of the snow but still enjoyed our time. 10/10 would recommend!

Snowmobile trip

Spent 4 nights at the cottage Clean, convenient to trails, plenty of parking for trucks /trailers, Nice hot shower after a day on the trails Nice kitchen for cooking meals, Location is great, we were able to go 3 different directions each day, Gabe was available for any questions Highly recommend for summer or winter, Steve ,Matt, Brett, Jordan

Perfect in Every Way!

Gabe's place met all our expectations & then some! If you're looking for a clean, well kept house on a lake or pond with access to some of the best ATV trails in the state, this place is for you! If ATVing isn't your cup-of-tea, head to Baxter State Park where you can spend days exploring. If you're looking to just relax & kick up your feet while doing a little fishing, head down to the brand new dock. We did all the above & made memories that will be talked about for years, especially the moose sighting on one of our night ATV rides... Thank you Gabe!

So peacefull

My family of four (all adults) and several friends off and on, stayed so comfortably in this house. Plenty of room to relax. Although I brought a lot of my cooking supplies the place had all the essentials and most of what I brought stay in the box. The weather was cool and a bit rainy but that only added to the relaxing 10 days we had. The owner was more than obliging and communicated with answers to my questions really promptly. The deck was huge and the firepit got a lot of use. Just a wonderful set up. The pond was beautiful and the ducks and loons just topped off the whole trip.

Perfect Family Vacation

What a gorgeous slice of heaven. Family of four and our dog loved every minute. The cabin was just as described and had everything needed for a perfect getaway before our oldest heads off to college. Canoe, two adult and two child size kayaks and a paddle board. Gorgeous, quiet pond made for a perfect setting to see a beautiful sunrise, to fish, feed the ducks, kayak and paddle board. Many beautiful sites in the area. Shin Pond Falls, Katahdin Woods and Waters, Sebois River Trailhead were highlights. We also rented a side by side from Shin Pond Village, visited Robert’s Mountain and Warren Falls. Epic day! We also stopped into Katahdin Brew Works. Good beer, great people and dog friendly! One of the best

This property was the perfect place for our family to stay. It was right next to a beautiful and quiet lake, in the woods, far away from noise and crowds. The house was roomy and had a welcoming feeling to it. The owners had put the air conditioning on for us and left good instructions on how to get in. It was super clean, and very well stocked in the kitchen for serving and preparing meals. There was a large wooden deck overlooking the lake, as well as a fire pit area. We made use of the kayaks provided, which was a lot of fun. There was a resort about a five minute drive away to get supplies, get to go food, and rent off road vehicles. Super fun activity for us and our teen! The hosts provided quick and clear communication. They were really easy for checking out. They also made the place welcoming by not leaving instructions taped all over the place, which so many places do and is always demeaning. The only thing to be aware of is that our cell phones (AT&T provider) couldn't get a signal. The Wi-Fi worked, but isn't super high-speed (at least on our stuff). We would definitely stay here again!

Stay here…that’s all…

Outstanding retreat at the end of the road…but the beginning of an excellent adventure. Gabe was a terrific host, dropped in after check in to say hello. We saw him first thing the next morning too, as the electric went down, power line break…he wanted to be sure we had aux heat, if needed. House is located just one mile from Mt Chase Lodge/Shin Pond Village, easy access by snowmobile, down the road and shortcut trail. Gorgeous place, modern as advertised, nice view of the lake, spacious parking. Fully provisioned kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, everything you’ll need. Large LED TV in the family room, Internet access was stable, plenty of heat/light, all the comforts of home. Full bath downstairs had an awesome shower with great water pressure, feels great after a long day on the sleds. Plenty of towels, bath/hand/face, beds were made and ready as advertised. Full size washer/dryer if needed. First floor bedroom is king bed, upstairs loft has two rooms, one queen and two doubles. Plenty of space. There is a half bath upstairs too, very convenient for the second floor guests. The open floor plan included a nice breakfast bar with two comfy bar stools, supplementing the large table with six chairs. Plenty of space for four singles, or even three couples…we were only three, as our fourth had an appendectomy that kept him from making the trip. Bummer. All in all, the title says it all, stay here, that is all. Gabe is really nice guy, grew up locally and makes his living in the area. I only wish we could have shared a growler or two with him, from Katadhin Brewing in Patten, 10 miles down the road. Next time Gabe…thank you!

We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful cabin! It was very clean, cozy, and well stocked. It had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We loved hearing the loons on the lake in the evening! The location was a good base for our nature/hiking/birding adventures to Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods & Waters, and other nearby trails. The host was very responsive to questions. We won’t hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us this way!

I have known the previous owners for many years prior to purchasing this property and unfortunately the property had fallen into disrepair, so in a period of about 8 months we worked diligently to remodel the cabin and embark on this hosting adventure. This cabin is owned and operated by mom and pops!
