Welcome to Beautiful Galax Virginia. "The Home of Mountain Music"
Our Farm is the perfect getaway for a large family with children or for even just a couple. Located only 10 minutes to Galax and within a few hundred of the popular New River Trail makes our farm even more inviting. If your looking for the perfect, relaxing, peaceful getaway in the Blue Ridge Mountains...Old Fiddler's Farm is just for you. We are Pet friendly and welcome them as part of your family. A beautiful 2 story farmhouse that takes you back to the old mountain charm.

The space
Our farmhouse sleeps up to 11 people with 1 bedroom (Queen Bed) on the main level, 1 Bedroom (Queen Bed) and 1 Bedroom (2 Queen Beds and 1 Twin Bed) upstairs on the second level. The third bedroom (2 Twin beds) is located just outside the kitchen door with its own private entrance. Perfect for youth or those that prefer to have a twin or their own little space.

The farmhouse is a large home that can accomodate alot of people. With its Beautiful Mountain Style Kitchen and its "Rustic" Mountain Charm it is sure to be the perfect getaway to enjoy with family and friends. The Farmhouse has 1 full bathroom (Toilet, Sink, and Shower). We have an outdoor shower house that is located just outside the sitting room. NEW for Summer 2022 will be another guest bathroom in the master downstairs bedroom! When this is completed by June we will have 2 toilets and 3 showers.

Our property is located within 10 minutes of Galax, 1 mile of the New River Trail and the beautiful Chestnut Creek. The Grayson Highlands State Park is located only 35 Miles from our place and there you can access the Appalachian Trail, see wild ponies, and Hike to the highest point in Virginia. We are only a short 20 minute drive to I-77. Also near us you will be able to find lots of major attractions such as Claytor Lake State Park, New River Trail State Park, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Mabry Mill, Mount Airy NC (Home of Andy Griffith), Foster Falls State Park, Virginia Creeper Trail (Perfect for riding bikes), Damascus Va (The Hikers Town), Buffalo Mountain, and Best of all we are located 15 minutes from Felts Park in Galax which holds the Annual Fiddler's Convention, which happens every year in August and it is only a 25 minute drive to Hillsville where they hold the Annual Labor Day Gunshow and Flea Market. One of the largest shows this side of the Mississippi River.

Old Fiddler's Farm Sits tucked back in the Mountains but is only a short ride to the town of Galax. So whether your coming to do alot of sight seeing or just coming to relax...Old Fiddler's Farm is just the place for you.

It's a rustic old farmhouse with modern touches in the mountains of Southern Virginia that reminded us of our Grams home. It was peaceful and secluded just as we desire and a great home base for 5 state parks in the area. Getting to see and feed the horses was the icing on the cake for our littlest traveler.

It was the perfect gateway for our family and some of our close friends. The farmhouse is beautiful and charming with an incredible view. It was our first trip with our toddler and she loved it. She calls it the goose farm. Amazing memories were made. We will be making yearly trip to this beautiful farmhouse. Stevie was great to work with. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Great place for family get away!

Visited w our LARGE family and stayed for a wedding that was local in the area. Had a wonderful stay, had most of the family (even those not staying in the house with us) out for grilling and hanging in the yard - mostly an impromptu family reunion that was awesome!

Beautiful property. Farmhouse reminded me of my grandparents 1890's farmhouse. I enjoyed the historical, mountainous feel of the home and location. It is nice staying at a location that isn't the cookie cutter style that has become the norm.

Relaxing stay at beautiful location

This house has character. There was more than enough space for our family. Rocking chairs at the porch, a picnic table, and fire pit at the back complete the outdoors. The environment is quiet, and the New River trail is conveniently nearby.

We loved the house and all the originality and history of it. It was very roomy and private. I do wish the grass had been cut and I had received instructions about the property when leaving. Overall it was a great experience and everyone loved staying there!

Hillsvlle Flea Market Stay

Property was very nice, Clean, very quiet and had plenty of room. Sitting on the front porch swing in the morning and evening was very relaxing. We seen deer, wild turkeys a couple of ground hogs and the farm also had several horses. The owners were nice and very helpful.

Wonderful Rustic Getaway near New River Trail

My friends, pups and I had a great time at this VRBO. It was perfectly situated to get to the new river trail, has a semi fenced in yard that the puppies loved and the house worked perfectly for a friend's weekend in the mountains. Definitely rustic vibes but very cute! Kitchen was well appointed with pans, and the water pressure in the shower was also great.

Peace in the country

We really enjoyed our stay. This old farmhouse had such charm but also was very clean. The owner referred us to a great new restaurant in Galax called the Fiddler’s restaurant. It was great. If you want a the peace and quiet of the country in an authentic farmhouse, you won’t want to miss this one.

Fiddler’s Old Farm is special

Outstanding location and wonderful old farm property! The New River Bike trail was just down the road. Galax just a few minutes away. There is a pasture with horses and we saw deer and turkeys. House is a modernized old farmhouse and was rustic and comfortable!

Traveling with friends

If you want the real experience of staying in a farmhouse, this is for you. Old Fiddler’s Farm is the real deal. I walked in and said, “This is my grandmother’s house!” It is rustic, but It’s fully electric with two full bathrooms to accommodate a family or friends traveling together. It was easy ti find and close enough to Gaylax to find a Bluegrass Band at the local brewery. It was perfect for us!

Farmhouse fun

We arrived late but Stephen called to let us know that he had everything ready for our visit. Even though he had a family situation he made sure that we were his top priority. The farmhouse reminded me of staying with my great grandmama back in the family farm which was not far from where we stayed. My nieces even though adults loved feeding the horses every morning and the deer outside the kitchen window every morning made all of our days. Thanks for a wonderful trip and we hope to make this a family tradition. He even called on our way home to make sure we had arrived home safely. Top notch

The Perfect Getaway!

If you truly want a break from all the stress that life can bring, this is your place!!! Our 3 children, (ages 11, 9, 6) never once asked to watch TV or play video games. They didn't need help finding fun ways to spend their time. As long as there was daylight, they wanted to be outside! We were all obsessed with the sweet horses! The opportunity to ride around the property was also a ton of fun for us all. While the house itself is obviously very old, it was comfortable and offered everything we needed. Fire pit, outdoor exploring, minutes from a New River trail head, not far from restaurants and stores. Stevie was the best host! He stopped by on our check-in day to introduce himself, gave great ideas of things to do in the area, and was very responsive anytime we had a question. This vacation will be hard to beat! I have no doubt our children will remember and talk about it for a very long time.
