Welcome to stunning sunset/harborside views from this home's amazing deck overlooking Corea fishing village, harbor and lobster fleet. Renovated Capt Young Farmhouse (c.1860) sleeps 8-10. Perfect for two families. The first floor has a Queen bed with en-suite bathroom and screened porch. There are two separate upstairs sleeping wings. One is a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds + twin daybed in the alcove play area. The other separate wing has one King bedroom and one Queen bedroom with a shared full bathroom. This historic home provides so many amenities such as an outdoor firepit and deck with rocking chairs and a BBQ grill, plus everything you need for steaming lobsters. Lots of space for up to 9 adults and kids to spread out. There is a fully stocked kitchen, a dining table that seats six with French doors that open onto a large deck overlooking the harbor and more seating options. Enjoy a comfortable section sofa in the living room with large television and an electric fireplace, decorated in a cozy coastal ā€œshabby chicā€ vibe. Hike to the Secret Beach or drive just minutes away to the Schoodic entry to Acadia National Park. Located near the seasonal Ferry to Bar Harbor. Discover "Hidden Gemā€ restaurants such as the famed 'Lunch on the Wharfā€™ or the dive bar Pickled Wrinkle. Search online, "Catch Your Own Lobster Dinner, Corea" and book a boat tour out to lobster crates, pick your own crustacean, and have the owner steam it up for you at their dockside restaurant. You can also buy your own lobster right next door at the lobster coop. Take the provided coolers on the deck, fill with ice and bring home your own catch.

The house was fabulous with stunning views of the harbor, particularly at sunset. The family set up a few extra tables on the deck on Saturday and enjoyed dinner. In the morning, a family of deer walked right past us on the deck without a care in the world:) We did learn quickly, how fast the temperature drops once the sun hits the horizon!

We loved our stay at the house! It was very clean with everything we needed and had a huge deck. It was only a short drive to Schoodic. There were lots of great restaurant choices in the area. We had lunch at ā€œLunch in the Wharfā€ twice and highly recommend it. Their steamed clams, clam chowder, crab and lobster rolls were delicious and reasonably priced. It was just a short drive from the house. We also took advantage of the nearby lobster co-op twice, also highly recommended.

Old house was really historic and neat. Stairs are sketchy not for the really young or old. Gorgeous location. Right on the harbor and close to ocean. Right next to neighbors who have private beach so don't go onto it. There is another beach you can go to...instructions in the house by the stand in dining room. Not the cleanest VRBO, but it is passable.

Amazing spot

House was very clean, very well stocked, with lots of space and different areas. We were only two people, but I can imagine large groups doing well here as there are so many nicely furnished rooms to break into. Loved the beach a short walk away! Communications were easy and quick with very caring host.

We loved the location! Sitting on the deck or around the fire pit we faced the water filled with fishing boats. The Schoodic Peninsula is the place to be. Youā€™re away from the crowds, the National Park is right there and you can take a ferry over to Bar Harbor and not worry about parking. The 4 bedrooms varied quite a bit in size, view and comfort. The master with en suite bathroom even had its own sitting room looking out toward the water. On one side of the house there were 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. On the other side there was a bedroom with a sitting room but no bathroom. The stairs to the second floor on both sides of the house could present a challenge to folks with bad knees.The kitchen, dining room and living room were comfortable and we were glad to have the washer and dryer in the downstairs half bathroom.

Lobsters in Corea

We had a family vacation with 9 adults. The house is a historic building and much of the charm of the original structure. The location in Corea Harbor was amazing. Just steps from the local lobster co-op with fresh lobsters was so fun and the fresh lobsters were delicious. The walk to the beach does involve a short trek through the woods. The beach is beautiful and you can walk out to islands during low tide. The stairs to get to upstairs bedrooms are narrow and you have to watch your head! The kitchen was well stocked. The house is on well water and has high iron content- there was a brita supplied that helped but you might want to bring some drinking water if you are picky.

Sweet Getaway!

We loved this place! House is old, but very functional! This house is off the beaten track and access to groceries is very limited. Bring what you need with you. Lunch on the Wharf is just down the road and did not disappoint. To clarify, the house has two kings, one queen and 3 twins. Would highly recommend!

Loved the quiet of the home. Had great views of the bay. The house had everything we needed. The stairs were very steep. Not good for someone who would have mobility issues. One would expect this with the age of the house. You can also get fresh lobster right next door.

Great Thanksgiving weekend in Maine

We had a wonderful (Canadian) thanksgiving weekend at this beautiful farmhouse. It's situated halfway between Halifax and our friends in Boston and was the right size for our group of 9, which includes 5 teenagers and 4 adults. The large family room is great for games, puzzles, reading or relaxing. There were some recent renovations in the bedrooms, kitchen, dinning room and also a large new deck. The location is beautiful overlooking the Corea harbour and is steps for a lobster coop where you can get fresh lobster!. This is our 3rd time here and will plan to come again next year!

Girls Trip!

This place was perfect for a long-weekend girls trip up to Maine! We had a group of 7, and there was plenty of bedroom space for all of us, we never felt claustrophobic, and we never fought over showers since there were 2 full baths. The house was clean when we arrived and had all the amenities we needed during our stay. The kitchen worked great, we enjoyed multiple sunsets on the back porch, there was plenty of space at the dining room table and living room for us to hang out, and we even got cozy around the firepit one night. Cindy is also a great innkeeper, as she was great with communication leading up to our check-in date, and she checked in via text multiple times throughout our stay. And although it is about an hour drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor, we loved the place and would definitely recommend to other groups looking to stay in the area.

Arrived at the wrong location. 6 hr drive time with a 3 yo.Owner said she sent directions & code; physically showed her what I received-no apology. Didnā€™t put the dog down to give us full attention. Advised where to go ā€œonly hour away; straight shot. Easy.ā€ Amusing for her and assistant. It was 2 hours away and far from straight shot. Kitchen sink leaks with a bucket of stagnant water. Upstairs shower doesnā€™t drain well-9 people used 1 shower. Couch old and torn all over. Torrential rain off the bay came in thru both doors on that side-heavily. During our stay yard work was done took about an hour. Lobster coolers on deck because lobsters are not permitted in the house; had old water and smelled. We cleaned, vacuumed, stripped beds, washed towels put in dryer and sheets to washer. After leaving I am being questioned about a small bird figurine. Each of these in itself not a big deal-combined-not an enjoyable experience at this location and company. DO NOT RECOMMEND My 4th rental-my 1st unsatisfactory experience.

Lovely comfortable historical property

This is a comfy, historical home with lots of character and history hanging on some walls (objects they found during renovation, local stores, etc), which I found interesting to read. All tastefully done and not excessive. The large living room has beautiful views and breezes of the harbor. We spent most of our time hanging out in that room. The neighborhood has views at this end of the street and the other end - stunning. We met a couple neighbors and chatted. We stumbled upon an old cemetery during our walks thru the area, which was fascinating. The kitchen is comfortably stocked with utensils and pots. There is a main floor master with bath. The king size bed was comfortable, and even though it was two twins with a topper, we didn't notice it. one upstairs bedroom was used as an office. The attic bedroom/playroom have angled ceilings, so you need to be mindful of that if you use them; we didn't. We had no issues and the management team was always accessible via text. Plenty of towels, etc for the stay. Laundry facilities worked great. As with all older homes, the floors are uneven across the additions and sometimes within a room. I didn't mind it because it is a historical property, and that's expected. Easy day trip to the local nature preserve/heath and Schoodic area of Acadia National Park. The towns within 15 minutes drive have artists' shops, general store, restaurants, and grocery. I would recommend this to someone wanting to have a peaceful stay away from things and folks who needed a jumping off place to visit Acadia that wasn't touristy.

Location

The pictures of property looked like you had access to the bay, which is not the case. When you were outside, it smelled like fish. And it was over an hour drive to get to Acadia park and Bar Harbour area. The house was generally clean, but had spider webs in several places. The small twin bed that was pictured in the loft area wasn't there.

Relaxing stay/ beautiful views.

We had a great week in Corea. The property contact was extremely responsive and it was a quiet location. Roughly 15 minutes to the Schoodic section of Acadia and over an hour to the main park. Only word of warning is that local restaurants and their hours are relatively limited so it may be wise to hit the grocery store ahead of checking in. Would return.

The Capt. Nehemiah Young House is an original farmhouse built in 1860 and renovated in 2004. Capt Young met Ellen Crowley in the mid-1800's, gave up his sea-faring life for her. She become his wife and helped him tend to the cow farm around the home. This is a beautiful, windswept peninsula which provides that "away from it all" feeling and salty air you can find only in Maine.
