The Surroundings

Located on two acres of the gorgeous hillside, you'll have plenty of space for sprawling out and enjoying the fresh mountain air in privacy. Get ready to take in clear night skies full of brilliant constellations from the back-patio hot tub ā€” whether it's a cold winter night or a fresh summer evening.

The Amenities

The Elk Mountain Lodge is fully equipped to be your home-away-from-home. The kitchen is furnished with stainless steel appliances, tile countertops, and of course, all you need for coffee each morning! Enjoy your meals together around the dining room table, or take it to the back patio for an epic barbecue.

After hiking through Yellowstone or skiing down a mountain, decamp to the family room for a movie night. This comfy space includes a flatscreen TV with streaming access and live TV via Youtube TV and WiFi. (A note about WiFi: because our area has only satellite internet, you'll need to be aware of multiple devices. After all, we are in rural Montana!). Or pour some hot cocoa and gather around the Great Room's gas fireplace, looking out the windows at the expansive landscape. It's especially idyllic when snow is falling softly! Montana is where rolling plains meet the Rocky Mountains, and we tried to capture that in our decor, using classic rustic details and Western flourishes to complement the panoramic views from each window.

Bedrooms include a master with a king bed and two queen bedrooms (for a total of three). Sleep two more on the queen sleeper sofa in the den, which has its own door for extra privacy. With two full bathrooms and one half-bath, there is plenty of space for everyone to keep up with daily routines before hitting the slopes or taking a trip into Red Lodge.

Pet Policy
We love welcoming pets at Elk Mountain Lodge! Prior arrangements are required. We charge a pet fee of $50 per pet per night, which will be invoiced separately after confirming your reservation. For longer stays, we're happy to offer a capped rate - just reach out to us to discuss.

Early Check-In & Late Check-Out
We understand that flexibility with check-in and check-out times can enhance your stay. Our standard check-in time is 4 PM, but if youā€™re arriving earlier, weā€™re happy to offer early check-in options when available (subject to availability and prior arrangement):

Early Check-In (2 PM): $30
Super Early Check-In (12 PM): $50

Please reach out to confirm availability for early check-in at least 24 hours before your arrival. Late check-out may also be available upon request, subject to availability and an additional fee.

Heading Into Town

While The Elk Mountain Lodge feels just the right amount of secluded, you're still only three miles away from town. Red Lodge Mountain is only 4.6 miles out and is home to many outdoor adventures like fishing, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding. While you're here, be sure to check out some fantastic hiking trails, including Silver Run, Lake Fork, Glacier Lake Trailhead, Beartooth All American Road, and more.

If you're visiting during the summer, the golfing is fantastic, with Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course just a short drive away. Red Lodge also has plenty of options for dining, bar-hopping, and quaint coffee shopsā€”it really is the quintessential mountain town. And The Elk Mountain Lodge is the ideal home base for exploring the vast beauty of this special place! We hope to see you soon.

Fall colors were amazing. The house could use a little touch up here and there but the views out the back more than made up for it. Everything functioned well. Very comfortable bed. Hot tub in great shape and clean. We had breakfast and dinner at the house and explored during the day. Jake was super responsive.Awesome Trip!Thanks

Clean, nicely laid out floor plan. All bedrooms on the basement walk out to the back yard/hot-tub. Comfortably slept 8 adults. Also 1 pull-out couch. No air conditioning and the main floor was quite warm in the afternoon. Mountain breezes made it comfortable to sit outside during this time. Hosts were quick to reply to messages and were very accommodating. We highly recommend this home to others.

There were five of us old folks staying and it was superb. The view was outstanding, we spent many, many minutes just absorbing it. And we had to watch a football game on Saturday (Go Griz!), the TV room was perfect. And I wish there were more stars to rate the communication from the hosts. Unbelievably great! We certainly hope tobe back.

Please avoid this property like the plague. The photos are no where near what it looks like, the house was deemed unsafe to stay in after bees infested the hot tub, and bedrooms. The deck is falling apart, the view from the living room is awful due to the window tint pealing off, the furniture is worn falling apart,and the windows leak when it rains. The home is dated, and the communication between the property manager and host is nearly impossible. Horrible experience.

Great location with Excellent views

This was a great location. Almost exactly half ways between the ski area and the town of Red Lodge. This made for easy trips to get food/groceries and to get to the mountain slopes! Listing is very accurate and the house had plenty of space for the 10 of us (6 adults 4 kids 10 and under. Would highly recommend and would stay again in the future. Also of note, we got almost 2 feet of snow over 2 of the days we were there and the driveway was cleaned by a cleaning crew before we were awake to head up to ski. Kudoā€™s to the owners for making sure that was a priority.

Letā€™s start with the low notes so we can end on the highā€¦ There were definitely things that werenā€™t ideal. If you have little ones with you, the master is the only bathtub and the baseboard heater in there doesnā€™t work, luckily there was a space heater in the closet we moved into the bathroom. Also worth noting, ALL of the bedrooms are downstairs and everyone from a toddler to a grandma all sound like a 400lb grown man stomping around, so if youā€™re a light sleeper, best of luck to you, youā€™ll need it. We had to buy our own toilet paper because we ran out about 2 hours into our 5 day stay. There was no deadbolt and minimal locks, so I didnā€™t feel super secure. There were missing screens on the bedroom doors and the tint on the windows upstairs is extremely warped taking away from the viewā€¦ on note of the view, letā€™s move to the high notes. The view and location are absolutely amazing! Literally at the base of the mountain and overlooking the rest. There was ample space and furniture as well as use of the garage if needed. They had a spotting scope there for us to use which was great for searching for critters not eh mountain. Overall, compared to other homes we have rented in Red Lodge, I would rate the stay a 6.5/10, the biggest issue honestly was the lack of sleep I got with how noisy people walking above you are.

Location is great. Hot tub was amazing. House is cute and comfortable. Not a great kitchen for cooking for a large family. Coffee maker has the wrong carafe and we had to rig it to work. No paper towels or dishwasher soap provided. Not enough silverware for us to all use for a meal, we had to re-use plastic silverware until we could go to the store.

Elk Mountain Lodge Fall Vacation

We had a great time staying here! Great space to spread out, cook meals, and relax in the hot tub! The hot tub was a must every night with the stars and the relaxing nature surrounding the hills! House was perfect for us 5 adults and we would stay again. Spent a day shopping the cute downtown and then returning to the house for game night, dinner, and hot tub! Not entirely too close to Yellowstone National Park but drive was doable- longer drive day. Nice views from the house tho! Would recommend!

Lovely Home

The property was very nice and clean. We had a group of 3 couples and each had our own room. We didn't spend tons of time at the property but the views were incredible. I feel that the listing does make it appear to be quite remote but the home is located on a street with several other homes. We didn't encounter any disturbances from the neighbors though and there was a small creek/river out back which provided wonderful ambiance. It does have a grill and large hot tub which was nice. Host was nice and informative, check-in process was easy. There is a lot to do in Red Lodge and we were able to bike from the property into town so everything is quite close by. Overall good experience and wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

We had an easy check and everything was great until my husband got electrocuted when going to bed. We reached out to the company and didnā€™t hear anything for 4 days and then nothing for another 3 days. We were given the run around and finally got a call from the owner who was amazing. He was upset with how the manager was doing things and seemed sincerely concerned. Other than that issue everything was wonderful with our stay. The house was great and the town and surroundings were breath taking.

Second stay at this property and one again delivered. Great location to get up to RLM, hot tub is one of the best weā€™ve had at a property, great views and the infinity table was a great addition for the kids to play on.

Thanksgiving weekend in the mountains

Everything was as described. The space worked great for our family gathering. Rooms and beds were cozy and spacious. The hot tub was amazing. Beautiful view from the living room/ dining room space. Great night sky views from the patio and hot tub. Had a new table top game system that was super fun for the whole family. The house was just outside of Red Lodge city limits, so it was very convenient to go into town for shopping and dining options. Jake and Vicki were great hosts. We had everything we could have possibly needed for our stay including extra blankets, pillows and towels.

Amazing views

Everything was perfect. Lots of books was great for kids and adults. Love that the bedrooms all had doors to the patio. Saw deer and moose in the backyard. Windows windows windows !!! Loved it hottub was great couldn't figure out how to make the waterfall part come on.

We love visiting Red Lodge to ski each year and decided that we wanted to visit more frequently so we purchased The Elk Mountain Lodge in 2020. It's been such a fun place for us to spend time together and enjoy the spectacular views and outdoor space that Montana has to offer.
