**Escape to the lake in quiet solitude and leave behind the stresses of everyday life**

Our Place is located on Bull Shoals Lake within 1000 acres of protected land placed in a conservation easement to prevent development, remain a home for wildlife and preserve the beauty of nature.
This is a very secluded property and getting to it is part of the fun! The last three miles to this property are down good old-fashioned dirt/gravel roads.Ā  The roads are suitable and easily travelled by cars and trucks alike without the need for 4-wheel drive.Ā  It is a place get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the presence of nature. The lake is a few steps away from the front door and there are cleared and blazed hiking trails that allow you to get out into the woods without getting lost! While relaxing in the peaceful atmosphere, you can still stay connected with free WiFi access. Watch birds, deer, turkey, and other wildlife from the home's deck or screened-in porch. A fishermanā€™s paradise with direct access to Bull Shoals Lake less than 50 yards from the front door! You can swim, fish, or just watch the sunset. The home provides plenty of space to park, turn around and charge your boat or watercraft with two covered parking areas. Finish the day enjoying the company of one another while relaxing around the rock-lined fire pit. Those looking for a day out adventure may enjoy some of the many area hiking trails, go fishing on the White River, spend the day floating or canoeing the Buffalo River. Come, slow down, relax and be revived.

Dwan went WAY above and beyond! Our guests decided to arrive 2 days early. Dwan not only accepted the additional days, she had the accommodations ready to occupy in an hour! She dropped everything she was doing to welcome our family.

This property is one of the best VRBO properties we have ever been at for the purpose of relaxation and rest. You might need a car or truck that can handle rock/stone roads to get here, but any car or truck can probably do so. And it is well worth your effort and time to do so. The property is extremely clean and easy to find things. The owners are prompt if you need any help. And the grounds are amazing if you're looking for outdoor refreshment. We look forward to returning to this property again and again. You will, too.

This is a very secluded, private place. Yes, it is exactly as listed--off the beaten path. It is exceptionally clean and has everything you could possibly need for a stay. Everything in the listing is accurate, and the host spares nothing in preparing an inviting, comfortable, private stay in this home. She even provided us with the makings for s'mores and a dozen farm fresh organic eggs! The lake is only a short walk from the home and is in a private cove of the lake. We were looking for a private, secluded, and serene place to get away and this was perfect! Thank you, Dwan, for preserving this peaceful, beautiful place and the habitat that supports such diverse wildlife! Some of the wildlife we saw included: armadillos, several deer, squirrels, a flock of turkeys and numerous other birds (tufted titmouse, pileated woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, bluebirds, vultures, red tailed hawks). We even saw some wild hogs. We will be back!

Look no further for tranquility.

We wanted to go somewhere that was off the beaten path, quiet, peaceful, where you can hear nothing but the wind through the trees, and see the stars. We were happy that is just what we found here. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are nice and have extras of things you may have forgotten. Everything was very clean. Plenty of cozy blankets for winter months. As far as cooking, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. We enjoyed walking the trails around the property and walking down to the lake. We also enjoyed the fire pit out front. Dwan was very attentive and we appreciated our stay here. Will definitely come back next time we are in the area!

Secluded Oasis

When we pulled into the driveway on our first day there was a deer grazing in the front yard. Part of why I choose this house was it's secluded location, to relax and hoping to enjoy the wildlife. Which it delivered. It was very clean, the beds were soft, the pillowds were may personal favorite, and the kitchen had everything we needed. I would absolutely recommend this home to anyone.

INFECTED BY BUGS!!

Two adults and one young boy stayed in early June of 2024. What a disaster! We got bit by chiggers. All of us were infected around the ankles and groin area. At first, we thought they were bed bug bites. They had the home inspected and that was not the case. The owner insisted that they may be chigger bites. After going to a doctor (and a local pharmacist), it appears they are indeed chigger bites. When confronted with this new evidence, the owner said "Well I just treated the lawn last month for chiggers". She knew she had a chigger problem. Also, there are 4 miles of the most horribly kept roads. No pavement. It is a mix of gravel, large washed-out ruts, and large stones. You will need a 4-wheel drive to get to the property. And do not expect to keep it clean. If you have a boat, you better have a cover! DO NOT STAY HERE! What a complete disaster! She then stopped responding to my communication.

Great getaway

The home, location and access to the lake were perfect. Only negative would be the rough gravel road to get to it. The host was great, easy to contact and replied fast. Would recommend if you want a spot away from it all but close to town at the same time.

Quiet, peaceful, perfect

We had a great stay and really would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing place to get away. There are no other houses or humans in the vicinity. It is far enough away from roads that it is often perfectly quiet. The screened in patio is wonderful in the morning -- so many birds! We also used the canoe for a paddle around the lake, which was fun. We enjoyed to fire pit as well, and the host provided supplies for smores which was a nice touch. It is a fair drive (30 min?) to get to anything, but worth it for the isolation. We didn't feel that we were missing anything we needed in the kitchen or otherwise. We would love to stay here again in the future.

Perfect Secluded Locatiob

We absolutely loved our stay. I have stayed in other VRBO homes so when I say that this house is stocked, it is STOCKED. We made fires every night and they left a welcome gift for us to make smores. There was plenty of room and we enjoyed the canoes. We even got to see a bald eagle while we were at the lake. It was my first visit to Arkansas and i will be back. My 9 year old son loves the woods and he felt at home being a little mountain man. Thank you for a great stay.

Relaxing Family Time

My husband, 2 year old daughter, and myself had a great time staying at Our Place. Dwan has thought of literally everything, I have never seen such a well stocked rental before. You do not have to bring anything with you except your own food/drinks, she has everything you could possibly need. The house itself is so beautiful and homey. The beds and couches were so comfy, and the blankets (there were so many of them which I appreciated) were also very cozy. Sometimes, with rentals, they don't necessarily invest in the furniture which then makes it very uncomfortable to relax on. This is not the case with Our Place. It felt like a home away from home. My favorite part, hands down, was the screened in porch. We really enjoyed spending our mornings drinking coffee out there and nights watching the sunsets. The only issue we had, which was not a fault of anyone, is that we encountered horse flies that would not leave us alone. We couldn't really spend a lot of time outside the property because of this. Dwan did everything she could to try and help and even brought over some fly traps, which we really appreciated. It was probably just the season and we got a bit unlucky. Overall it was a great experience and we would recommend Our Place for families!

Wonderful getaway to the lake!

Our family came from near St. Louis and wanted to check out Bull Shoals Lake. The lake itself was incredible, and I highly encourage renting a boat if you don't have one. The property is delightfully secluded. And although the trip feels long the first time, the house isn't far from Flippin, where a Walmart can help you get all the things you forgot! The house was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, and I hope we get the chance to visit again! The ONLY con I can think of is the small bed in the master bedroom. The full size was a bit small for myself and my husband. I ended up on the couch a couple of nights, but I'm easy so it was fine. That won't keep me from coming back! Thanks for a wonderful stay and trusting us with your home!

Our place is amazing! It's perfectly secluded and peaceful! The water is just a short walk and felt amazing! Dwan, the owner, was so helpful when I asked where the closest marina and grocery was. The home was clean and so nice! We swan all day and had fires every night. Loved the screened in porch! Such a great family vacation!

Great place

The property was clean and as advertised. The property manager was great to work with. Overall it was a great experience. The property was remote as explained in the description. It takes about 20 minutes from the main road to attractions, grocery stores, etc. We chose not to use the canoe or swim spot.

Great for Family Reunion

Firstly, Dwan is an amazing host! You can tell there has been a lot of thought put into this house! And Dwan it extremely responsive and available if you need her. We are local and rented the house for our adult kids. Since we don't have extra bedrooms, Dwan's house was ideal-three kids and three bedrooms! We used all parts of this adorable house and cooked a lot! The kitchen is fully stocked and even has storage containers for leftovers. We loved the screened in porch and the kids spent a lot of time out there. It is so quiet and peaceful and an easy walk to the lake. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful rental in the "neighborhood". When we have guests visiting, we will not hesitate to rent from Dwan again!

Relaxation in the Woods

We very much enjoyed our stay at Our Place. We got out on the lake many times, and enjoyed the nearby White River and Crooked Creek. It is extremely quiet here, you only hear the wildlife - which is very plentiful. We saw turkeys, deer, great blue herons, countless squirrels, bald eagles, and many more. It is a very nice wildlife sanctuary and a wild park like setting. Really a great opportunity to experience the Natural State. Dwan was a fantastic host, and very responsive to any questions or needs. A particular recommendation includes visiting Blanchard Springs Caverns. It it the most spectacular cave with some of the largest ā€œroomsā€ in any known cave system. A great hiking recommendation, beyond walking around the property and nearby parks in Cotter - including hiking a portion of the Buffalo River Trail. We hiked the Denton Ferry trail head area, which has great views looking down at the Buffalo River from high bluffs. Big Spring Park in nearby Cotter is a gem. Very quiet, great river access, nice picnic areas, and pleasant walking trail. Wonderful place and stay.

Arkansas retreat

The place was awesome. The secluded nature was the best. Fishing was not the greatest (maybe the time of the year or our own ability). Roads could use some improvements, but maybe that helped with the seclusion.

Our family moved to this area in the early 1960's after experiencing the beauty of the Ozarks in a canoe trip down the White River. We retired and moved here from the big city of Houston in 2003. Now it is our pleasure to share the solitude and comfort of the county with our guests.

This is a very secluded property. Getting to it is part of the fun! The last three miles to this property are down good old-fashioned dirt/gravel roads.Ā  The roads are suitable and easily travelled by cars and trucks alike without the need for 4-wheel drive.Ā  This slower part of the entrance to the property allows time to enjoy the exquisite views.Ā  Our Place is part of 1000 acres that we have placed in a conservation easement to prevent development, remain a home for wildlife and preserve the beauty of nature. This is a place get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the presence of nature. The lake is a few steps away from the front door and there are cleared and blazed hiking trails that allow you to get out into the woods without getting lost! Come, slow down, relax, and be revived.
