While the apartment was clean and comfortable for four guests and very well situated, unfortunately the host was extremely rude and unhelpful, suggesting we stay in a hotel in the future simply because I asked politely for some essential missing kitchenware: for 4 mugs instead of two small coffee cups and one cracked one, for four tea plates instead of three, for some teaspoons and at least one sharp knife (there were none), for four drinking glasses (there was one stained small tumbler) and for more than the one saucepan and small wooden spoon to cook with. There were only two wine glasses, and no tea towel. He did offer four mugs and teaspoons if we made the ten minute return walk to drop our keys in the key deposit box and ten minutes again potentially late at night to collect them again, so that someone could maybe come into the apartment while we were gone. This was not convenient or acceptable so we just made do; I asked if they could leave the things outside our apartment door which should have and could have worked as the apartment door is in a secure internal courtyard. He didn’t reply. I was also offered a five star review by the host if I left a five star review for him; my understanding is this is not standard practice and it certainly is not fair on future guests who rely on honest and fair reviews. We were five star guests anyway, leaving everything clean and tidy; it was a shame he is not a five star host.
