We chose this location because Durand is a place where life slows down in all the right ways. It has a peaceful, welcoming, small-town feel, but also a deep sense of history, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure. We wanted to create a space where guests could experience all of that — where nature meets comfort, and where people can truly rest, reconnect, and enjoy time together.

The property sits in a quiet neighborhood that feels tucked away, surrounded by trees and visiting wildlife, yet still close to everything that makes Durand special. We loved that guests can wake up to birds and deer, sip coffee with a wooded backdrop, and then walk or bike anywhere in town, the river, and the state trail within minutes. It’s the best of both worlds: peaceful and private, but also close to parks, restaurants, and the heart of this charming river town.

This location is also wonderfully central for exploring Western Wisconsin and the region beyond. We are just over an hour from the Twin Cities, 25 minutes from Lake Pepin’s scenic bluffs and waterfront towns, 30 minutes from the vibrant arts and food scene in Eau Claire, and 20 minutes from Menomonie and UW-Stout. It makes the home perfect not only for quiet retreats, but also for day trips, family visits, weddings, college events, and exploring the area’s wineries, trails, and river communities.
