Waterfront Family Cottage on Smith Lake

Business in the front and a relaxing retreat in the back. Welcome to our favorite spot on Smith Lake! DockTales and Dreams is ready to host your family, friends or just youself for a quiet getaway.

This home is located on a quiet peninsula with big water views to enjoy from the back porch or one of the two levels of decks on the way to the water. From the front entry, guests are greeted by four spacious bedrooms (including a bunk room perfect for kids) and a full bath. Downstairs is a living area, dining area, stocked kitchen, and another full bathroom. The back door opens to a wooded patio with grill and an outdoor dining area.

Follow the stairs down to a lower-level deck with chairs and a fire pit, then continue down towards the double-level dock on year-round deep water. Rental includes the use of two kayaks, a collection of life jackets, and a selection of seasonal inflatable water toys. During lower water level months, guests can walk along the shoreline around the peninsula.

This was our annual family Thanksgiving trip. Traveling with 9 people means we need to meet lots of needs. This cabin suited us perfectly. Neighbors are very kind and friendly. We had a few questions when we arrived and our hosts answered quickly and helped us figure out what we needed. Very helpful.

Pretty views

Not a large house but plenty of room. Nice view of the lake. Very good internet connection plus satellite TV. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. We enjoyed our stay.

Weekend wedding stay

The property itself was very nice had many amenities however the neighbor came over the first morning harassing and yelling at us asking how long we were going to be staying and why we were constantly going in and out

Loved it!

Great house! Multiple families with four teenage boys. We loved the dock and swimming. The house was very nice, clean and welcoming. We will most certainly rent again!

Great lake view house!

Stayed here for a guys weekend and had such a great time! The water was low with excellent rocks for skipping. Loved the kayaks. Dining room had plenty of space for board games. Great view of the water/sunset. Had trouble finding the entry code but the host was very quick to answer our questions. Would stay again!

Great family weekend

We had such an amazing weekend stay at Docktales and Dreams with our family. It is a convenient 20 minute drive to restaurants and grocery store. The owners have literally thought of everything you would need to enjoy your stay. Fully stocked kitchen, plenty of seating for our group of 10, games for families, life jackets, etc. AC works great and beds are comfortable. We hope to make this an annual family trip and be back next year.

Lovely weekend with friends.

Very comfortable home for our group of friends. We liked the layout, with the bedrooms on the upper floor and the open living area on the lower floor, which allowed early risers or night owls to not disturb those sleeping. We enjoyed the small patio just off the back porch and ate most of our meals there, overlooking the lake.

Lovely Lakeside Stay

The house was clean, modern, comfortable and roomy for 5 adults, with a convenient, well-stocked kitchen, two bathrooms with lots of towels. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch and watching the sun rise over the lake, lunch at the patio table on the deck, and jumping from the double-decker dock into the lake. A quiet, peaceful, beautiful spot. Shopping, restaurants available within a 20-30 minute drive.

Weekend getaway

We had a great time during our stay. Even though the weather was wet and cold, everyone enjoyed the games and puzzles that were at the property. My youngest even enjoyed, going outside and looking through the leaves to find the white oak, acorns and hickory nuts that she was surprised to find. Nothing bad to say about this place. We even met the neighbors dogs which were our welcoming committee. :).

Friendly and peaceful

We stayed for 4 nights in November 2023 with family and friends. Enjoyed the peaceful time together at the lake. House was very clean, kitchen well equipped, plenty of sitting space inside and outside. Our kids enjoyed playing at the lake, fishing, kayaking (two kayaks were available to our liking). Thanks to friendly neighbor who took our kids on a guided joyride on his speedboat around the lake We all enjoyed walking on the shore, skipping rocks and fantastic views. Would recommend to everyone looking for peaceful stay at the lake.

Overall not bad but be careful

Overall a great property. Easy check in and check out. Be careful with fees when you check out. The owner claimed there was damage to sheets no one slept in. While it’s possible it was done unintentionally, my hunch is that it was nickel and diming.

Loved it!

My family and I had such a lovely time! This place was very well stocked. Very impressed. It was so nicely decorated, love all the windows and the view. Erin was great at responding. I highly recommend! My family enjoyed the kayaks and we all loved the games ! The only suggestion I have would be to add more hooks in the bathroom. Other than that it was perfect. Hooks are not a deal breaker at all btw! I would stay here again and recommend to anyone! The kids enjoyed the Nintendo! Talk about a throwback to my childhood:) this was a perfect place with a good amount of space. It was nice that we were able to see the lake while we cooked and played games and sat in the living area. The deck was well build and very relaxing. The neighbors dogs were sweet. Thankful we were able to stay here! Everyone loved it!

I was unable to join my colleagues for a weekend at the lake, but they truly enjoyed the property and access to the water! No complaints. Owner was responsive and respectful when it came to last minute requests.

Better than advertised

This lake house is the perfect size for a couple of families with children or a group of adults. The bedrooms are spacious with one being a bunk room. The kitchen has upgraded appliances and utensils you don’t normal find in rentals. The entire house was well maintained, very clean and comfortable. The dock has an upper deck for sunbathing and jumping. I would definitely recommend this rental.

Great Smith Lake vacation rental!

Had a wonderful weekend at this home on Lewis Smith Lake! We had 4 adults & 9 children & we all had plenty of space. The home has really nice decor & was well stocked with things we needed. Erin was flexible and helpful & communicated well. Hoping to go back for a summer trip next time!
