This relaxing 3-bedroom home accommodates up to six guests. Step outside to a spacious deck or enjoy your morning coffee and evening sunsets from the private pier.

13 miles from Lake Bruin and 10 miles from Tensas Wildlife Refuge, this is the perfect spot to relax and recharge. We offer the convenience of early check-in and late check-out when available. We will notify guests when the house is cleaned, sanitized, and ready for check-in, usually around noon.

The laundry room is fully equipped with a washer and dryer, along with complimentary washing liquid and dryer sheets. You'll also find games conveniently stored in the laundry room.

Welcome to the Solarium on the Pier, where relaxation begins.

Whether you're seeking a tranquil moment alone or a delightful day with friends, our solarium offers the perfect setting. Sip on refreshing beverages, indulge in light snacks, and watch the sunset as the gentle breeze rejuvenates your senses.

The backyard porch is screened in, allowing you to relax outside at any time. It is equipped with a hanging heater and two fans to ensure your comfort.

In the backyard, you'll find swings for your enjoyment. The firepit is a perfect spot to unwind, and we provide starter logs in the laundry room for your convenience.

Here are some fishing tips: Breams or bluegill and crappie tend to gather under the cypress trees on both sides of the pier. Use worms or crickets as bait, ensuring the tip of the hook is not showing. Perch, bass, and bowfin prefer shiners (minnows) or crickets. Catfish and alligator gar are not picky eaters and will go for anything. Lake St. Joseph is home to a variety of fish species.

In the town of Newellton, you'll find stores such as Dollar General, and Britt's Pharmacy, offering food options since the nearest grocery store, Mac's Fresh Market in St. Joseph, is 14.9 miles away.

Lake Visit

The Lake house was very nice, clean. The screened patio was nice, we spent both evening and mornings sitting outside.We also really enjoyed the deck. Would stay here again

Relaxing time on the dock.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and I loved the large kitchen. We spent a lot of our time on the dock fishing and watching an alligator.

Very Nice!

This was our 2nd stay at Cast Away Cottage, and it did not disappoint. The home was very clean,spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the pier with the enclosed gazebo for early morning coffee and alligator watching. Some in the groupenjoyed fishing from the pier. The children enjoyed the swings outside while the adults were able to watch the SEC baseball tournament on the big TV. A very pleasant stay

College Roadtrip/Family Reunion

We were in town for our family reunion and taking our grandson to college. We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. The house was very clean and amazing! Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Hopefully we'll be able to book again next year.

Lake St Joseph

We had a wonderful time. Lovely property and lake. Was listed by VRBO as Lake Bruin....it's actually St Joseph.....perfect lake for young children learning to fish. Perfect for adults also. Loved it!

Fantastic Property

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay! We will be coming back soon. We brought out little dog who also enjoyed themselves. Very spacious yard with a beautiful pier/dock to relax on. The outdoor space is fantastic. Bo was very responsive as well to anything we needed on property. This place is a gem and I would recommended staying here!

Bryan were great guest they followed all the rules and the house was left very clean. Bryan was also great to communicate with. They also had their pet dog with them.They did such a great job cleaning behind the dog the cleaning crew didn’t notice a dog in the house are yard. I were more then glad to waive the pet fee. Bryan and his dog or welcome back anytime.

Home away from home

If you're looking for a break from everyday life this is the place. It's a cozy home on the water. Great for fishing, enjoying the water, stars and relaxing. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for cooking. The bathrooms and bedrooms are stocked with extra towels and blankets. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Get Away

We schedule a girls get away every year after tax season ends. This is a great "in-between" location for our group. Even though it rained every day, we still enjoyed the visit. Cooked, played games, watched movies - just spent some down time and visited. Didn't get to fish this trip due to the rain, but the pier is great to just hang out on when the sun is shining.

Great time!

House was very nice and clean! Everything was as described in the listing. Furniture & beds were super comfortable too! Screened in back porch was lovely and the dock has lots of extra amenities. Except for some yelling the first night, the neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful. Didn't catch very many fish, but that's why they call it fishing, not catching! One suggestion would be to put a mat or something in the shower as it's very slippery.

Our host just gets the best review possible. The place was spotless and cozy. It was stocked with virtually everything guests could need, except fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks, entrees, and of course, drinks (although there were even up to ten bottles of water in the fridge). What impressed me the most was that the bedding (pillows, blankets and bedspreads included) smelled like home…fresh and clean. Outside was peaceful and serene, as well as ‘eye candy’ for nature lovers. Our host was easily accessible during our stay and met our every need. On top of all this, we have a special needs child and he could move around easily and safely. HE was happy there…very big deal!

Relaxing and very clean lake home!

Upon our late afternoon arrival, we were glad to see that it was exactly as described on VRBO. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and more. The view from the back porch was beautiful. The owners thought of everything! Would stay here again!

Peaceful and beautiful water views

Enjoyed the fishing pier and the scenery. Appreciated the mosquito netting on the back porch. We used the house as a landing spot and traveled around the area. The visit was a ‘revisit’, for one in the party, who grew up in the area. We would rent the house again. It was comfortable. The owner was responsive.
