The home is located near downtown Alpine, but in a quiet neighborhood.
You will enjoy the peaceful energy of this quaint Santa Fe style home.
All new furnishings and well equipped modern kitchen are some of the many features this home offers.
You will enjoy the beautifully landscaped yard with privacy fence.
Along with a deck facing east where you can see beautiful sunrises and front porch facing west for gorgeous sunsets, the outdoor surroundings of the home are a delight.
Casa Candelilla (named for a desert plant) is the perfect place to stay as you explore the Big Bend region.

This was our second stay at the same location. Our first visit was two years ago. Everything was exceptional, the site was well-provisioned, and everything worked.The property is quiet and well-maintained and the Griffiths are always pleasant to deal with. This is our first and ONLY choice in Alpine.

Kathleen and Tom were very responsive when a small inconvenience arose at the house. The house itself was comfortable, nicely decorated, had everything we could have needed, and was located in a quiet location close to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay there again!

We had a great time at Casa Candelilla. Loved the attention to detail and all the personal touches. Enjoyed the art work in the house. Kathleen called us while we were on our way and had the coffee maker stocked up with our favorite coffee and cream. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean with more than enough amenities, and the kitchen had all the necessary utensils. We enjoyed the xeriscaped front and backyard with plenty of seating and tons of birds. The location is very close to downtown Alpine, especially the grocery store is just a mile away. Plenty of space to park two cars.

I had the most incredible stay! It was very clean and cozy. It had everything you could need during your stay. I enjoyed the record player tremendously The owner was so attentive and incredibly helpful and suggested fun things to do around town. I will be coming back here! The outside areas are so relaxing and I enjoyed seeing all the birds!! An incredible place!

Motorcycle trip

The property and house were just as described. It was very clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Beds were great. The neighborhood was very quiet. We will definitely stay there again. The owners checked on us to make sure we arrived safely.

This place felt like home the minute we walked in. It is clear that it has been cared for with the same love and attention one takes with their own home. Not just for some strangers. And it was stocked with everything you could possibly need or want. There was even a nice collection of vinyl records we might have in our own collection if we had one and a turntable to play them on. There were books about the area and art and novels to read at your leisure. Beautiful art and handmade textiles were hung all over the walls and little ceramic trinkets placed on tables and book shelves probably from local artists. It was just all so charming. And I can’t say enough about how clean it was. It was scoured. You could eat off the floors! We weren’t able to meet Kathleen but we did meet Tom and liked him right away. Super friendly and eager to make our stay comfortable. I think if we lived in Alpine we’d be hanging out with both them. Our stay was short and we were sorry we hadn’t booked it for longer but definitely will next time. Anyone who wants to hike to your hearts content, visit historical sights and museums, eat great food and stargaze from some of the best possible spots on earth—all from a charming, comfortable and quiet retreat, we recommend Casa Candelilla without the slightest hesitation. Thank you Kathleen and Tom for being such amazing hosts!

Home away from home

We needed few days to relax before we move on with our travels and the place was just what we needed. Has a good location : short distance to Marfa, Fort Davis and McDonald's Observatory. The amenities were amazing! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Kathleen is a wonderful host who made our stay very special.

Perfect home away from home.

We spent our Christmas holiday in Casa Candelilla and found everything within the home to be comfortable and welcoming. After hiking and exploring in far West Texas, this was the the best place to come home to for resting up and planning our next day of adventure: Everything we needed was right at hand in every corner! We will definitely come back for more,

Alpine Getaway

If you need a place to stay in Alpine, this is it! We are so happy we found this house that when we came back for another visit to West Texas, we for sure stayed here again. Kathleen is an amazing host and makes sure that you have everything you need. Besides, the house being quaint and comfortable, the garden is amazing to sit out and enjoy the birds and the beautiful grounds.

Sweet home away from home

This VRBO is perfection down to the last detail. Ideally located close to downtown Alpine and a perfect base for our adventures to the Big Bend parks and the Davis Mountains. The surrounding garden is filled with gorgeous flowers and songbirds! Home is very comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked with premium cookware and utensils. We hope to visit again soon!

Fantastic!!

We had a fantastic time! The house is charming and cozy and the yard is emaculate and beautiful. We had all we needed and more than we expected. The owners Tom and Kathleen are excellent host and we enjoyed visiting with them. We will definitely refer our friends and family.

A Gem in the High Desert

For a house of its age, it was impeccably preserved and in excellent repair. The neighborhood was quiet and all facilities in the home worked and were provided with ample instructions. The owners, both very pleasant people, came over to feed birds, etc., and were most welcoming. Our next visit to Alpine will include a stay at the Casa Candelilla.

Kathleen is an artist who exhibits her work in local galleries and Tom is a singer/songwriter who performs at local venues.
They have a vacation home and another bnb located near Chinati Hot Springs that is also listed.
Being avid gardeners, you will see this reflected in the beautiful landscaping at Casa Candelilla.
