Excellent communication. Perfect location. Walking distance from water to little Italy. Easy pick up spot for Uber. And parking lot across the street. Loved it!

Nice clean place, a little confusing on location/instructions. Upstairs got a littleHot sleeping with the lofted bed area. Great location. Finding street parking was nearly impossible but there are many garages around the area!

Spotless, quiet, and great location in the heart of Little Italy. Didn’t touch our car for three days. My wife and I had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice property, fab location!

Nice property in a centralized location with all the food in the world around the location. It was a nice walk to the ocean front, an easy walk to the convention center, and the weather was so nice I even walked to the airport for my flight home.

Lovely loft

My mom and I loved this place. Everything was close by and being able to walk to the places we needed was great. We didn’t realize that parking would be a luxury we would miss but other than that this place was amazing.

Location can't be beaten

Superb location. Low ceiling bedroom area is annoying but overall would recommend. Apartment is at the back of the block away from street so surprisingly quiet for central spot.

Great location and surprisingly quiet!

Excellent location in the heart of Little Italy! Steps away from India street and the blue/green line. The property does not enter off the main road, so at night, it is very quiet. Best of both worlds!

A Cozy Place

The place is cozy and it is ideal for two people. It was clean and the management group was VERY easy to deal with. It is less than a one minute walk to San Diego's Little Italy, need I say anthing more.

In the middle of Little Italy

I love San Diego and try to visit once a year, for now. Surf Style Vacation Homes has given me a good place to stay in the heart of Little Italy, by Kettner Row. I had access to the blue line, good eats, and the hillside sunset view that made me want to come back. For 1 person this place was perfect. I slept well, showered good and after a long day out, I had a place to come back to in a private spot vs a hotel with constant flow of traffic. I would definitely come back to this spot again. 10/10 Thank you for letting stay here!

Location was great… very walkable to everything downtown and a short drive to other interests. Parking in the neighborhood was easy. When it says two level be aware that it is the two levels above the garage so there in a large staircase to get up to the first level if you have lots or heavy bags. Our first night while getting ready for bed we noticed an infestation of tiny spiders in the loft, had two buy supplies and clean for over an hour just to feel comfortable enough to try and sleep. Communication with surf side was poor, I reached out that night and did not get a response for almost 2 days. Their options were to leave the unit for 3 to 4 hours while an exterminator came or to have the cleaning crew come back. As it was the afternoon before we were due to check out these options seemed pointless. Management didn’t seem to care about our poor experience. Overall for the price point I expected a bit more

Excellent property and location

Completely renovated and in excellent condition. Multiple restaurants within walking distance. A block away from the Red Trolley train line. Could use a security light above the entrance. Otherwise, a great stay. A comment about the loft: I'm 5' 7" and cross beams reached to the bottom of my ears. Not a problem for me, could be for others.

Our stay was lovely with one exception…wasn’t able to unload car upon arrival in the designated parking area although it wasn’t occupied..Also wouldn’t let us temporarily unload after a short trip to get groceries.

Amazing!!

Honestly, this was one of the best locations I have stayed at. Little Italy has SO many amazing options, and the unit was clean and the staff was responsive and helpful to everything we needed!! The only negative thing was that I didn't realize how low the ceiling was, and it was a little tough to navigate with my 6'3" husband lol but we made it work :) I would still recommend 10/10!!

Location was everything for Little Italy!

The location of the property was perfect for anyone looking to explore Little Italy - and there is a lot to explore! The only downfall is parking - if you have a car - that's a pricey issue. There were a few little issues (ie: coffee pot malfunction, slow drains) - communicated with the property management team and received a quick response. It is compact - don't plan on doing a lot of cooking there - but you wouldn't want to anyway - lots of great restaurants within the vicinity! My overall 4 rating was based on the few little issues we ran into and cleanliness (cobwebs in the loft). Great place though!

Apathetic Landlord

I never received check-in information through VRBO. Landlord communicates outside VRBO. But when the AC did not work properly, then self-destructed, the landlord NEVER called me back. Had to sleep on couch since upstairs was too hot and stairs to get there are in disrepair - they look dangerous.

Stay in a hotel instead

Terrible internet, it has a smart TV but we ended up using our iPad and hotspot due to single digit upload and download speeds. poor communication, inaccurate information from management company - didn’t answer the emergency number. Don’t be fooled by pictures, ceiling is lower than it looks, you cannot stand in the bed area and stairs are cumbersome and noisy. We hit our heads a number of times. The location is the only good thing about this property. There are hotels in the same area that are less expensive and would have been more comfortable.

Our directions to the home include photos and aerial shots with detailed instructions on how to access the front door. The advertisement clearly states there is a low ceiling height in the loft. The listing is very economical considering the location however the phrase “you get what you pay for” has never been more apt. The location is excellent with one large caveat - you are not staying in an apartment you are staying in a refurbished garage to the apartment that is pictured in the photos. The issue is that it is accessed from a back alley which was strewn with garbage and debris which was left uncleaned through the duration of the stay. While the “apartment” itself was clean the back alley entrance significantly detracted from the accommodation. While I live downtown in a large city and therefore am quite used to homelessness you should be aware that a homeless man sleeps in the entrance way. If this were an apartment on a street that wouldn’t be quite as bad but since it is in an alleyway I can image that this would be off putting to some people particularly if you are not used to this. The actual space, while clean, is a garage. So the bedroom is in the ratters with a ceiling of about 4 feet - you have to crouch while climbing into bed so if you have mobility issues this could be a problem. The actual location is excellent and I think that little Italy is my favorite place to stay in San Diego - you are minutes from great restaurants and delicious gelato. If you can get past the above I could see this being a great find for travelling on a budget. The two star rating is in part based on the fact that the listing in my view is misleading.

San Diego

The property is in an excellent location in San Diego, in the heart of Little Italy. It was off an alley, so very quiet and relaxing. There is an issue with head space in the loft, but I was aware of that upfront. Being off an alley, it is very difficult to find. There is no signage until you are standing in front of the door, not visible from the alley. This was my 1st VRBO, one disappointing thing was there was no coffee! There were 2 packs of decaf but that was it. At other housing rentals I have stayed at there is usually coffee (you would have that in a hotel too), snacks (chips, cookies, granola bars, fruit gummies, microwave popcorn, etc.). The hosting fee is probably more than enough to at least offer coffee.

NO ON-SITE PARKING

We stayed at this adorable loft located at the edge of Little Italy. Wonderful location! There is no parking on site. Management refers you to a lot across the street but it is $10 per hour! This drastically changes the cost of a long weekend! We took our chances and parked on the street. Luckily, no issues. There was garbage at our front door the day we arrived. It grew and stayed there the entire 5 days. I called management twice, but they did not take care of the problem. Also, a homeless couple decided to visit the motor courtyard at the property. (The courtyard that we could not use.) They stayed for the afternoon. This site is in an ideal location but I am not sure I would stay here again.

One of the worst

I had reserved this place for a ten-day stay, but unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst experience with management that I have ever had. I strongly advise against booking this property as it has a low roof, and the pictures shared by Surf Style are misleading. In my experience, the management team was unsupportive, and their customer service was rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. I regret that I am unable to provide a detailed account of my experience due to word count limitations. In short, I would caution anyone against booking this place or any other properties owned by Surf Style on VRBO.
