Plus, when you're ready to hit the beach, The Salty Squirrel is a half-mile walk to pedestrian beach access or a 1-mile drive to Hayman Street Beach Access with parking!

Downstairs, a driveway and carport offer plenty of parking and covered entry. An outdoor shower with hot water and massaging showerhead is available for rinsing off all that sand from the beach. A large, privacy-fenced backyard with propane grill, picnic table and native gardens creates a welcome retreat for relaxing and stargazing. Step inside to continue your beach vacation fun in the ground-level game room with air hockey table, big screen TV with cable and streaming capability, DVD player with 100+ DVDs, board games, and foosball table.

Upstairs, a large great room with plenty of natural light and vaulted ceilings welcomes you into your week of relaxation. Enjoy this bright and airy living space that includes a Lazy Boy sleeper sofa amongst the comfortable furnishings. The spacious kitchen with stainless steel appliances is perfect for chefs of all skill levels to whip up their favorite seafood masterpiece! The well-appointed kitchen includes an Artisan KitchenAid mixer, extra-large slow cooker, air-pop popcorn maker, toaster oven and a blender for making your favorite frosty beverages! The kitchen island offers bar seating for two, while the adjoining dining area comfortably seats six and doubles as the perfect spot for pulling out your favorite board game for a little family-friendly competition. Also on this floor, you will find a Queen bedroom and full hall bathroom. Step outside under the covered porch to relax and enjoy the coastal sound breeze.

Rest easy on the top floor in an oversized King Master Bedroom with high ceilings, private sundeck, and attached Master Bath with dual rainfall and massaging showerhead. The other bedroom on this floor features one twin bunk bed, and one bunk with a twin over full mattress— perfect for the kids! This level also boasts a comfy reading nook, complete with a cozy chair, a full-size desk, and dozens of books and puzzles.

Convenient Location for Soundside Exploration
The Salty Squirrel's prime location makes it easy for you to explore Kill Devil Hills. Your home away from home is only 5 houses away from a sound access with picnic table and decking. Pedestrian beach access is a half-mile stroll (with crosswalk), or park your car at the Hayman Street Beach Access that's just 1 mile away. The sound side Hayman Pier and Gazebo is an easy half-mile walk or bike ride away, and is the perfect place to watch colorful sunsets over the sound. A boat ramp access is also located nearby for visitors who want to take to the water for a day of sailing, fishing, or crabbing.

Less than 3 miles away you'll find a Publix Supermarket for all your grocery needs, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial where you'll learn about the important role the Outer Banks played in aviation history. Craving breakfast or your morning cuppa joe? Henry's Restaurant, Ashley's Espresso Parlour and Dunkin Donuts are all within a third of a mile. House was as advertised. Was perfect for my family! 5 minute walk to the beach. Great location, access to everything we needed.

Vacation

The house was perfect for us and our dog and met all our needs. However, The refrigerator smelled so bad we could not use ice maker for ice for beverages. The toaster oven still had crumbs in it and the grill was filthy with no cleaning brush as stated so we had to purchase one. The yard has a “natural habitat “ that is very overgrown and has sticker burrs that got on her paws . Our dog did not spend anytime in back yard. There is no access to yard from inside house. You have to go outside to back through the gate. However the area around is safe and clean to walk. The house being one block over to crossing with a light was perfect. The enclosed deck was great for the dog as well Everything else about the house was perfect
