The cabin was beautiful and the scenery was breathtaking. We appreciated the reminder to disconnect from our phones. We hadn't done puzzles in years and we had the best time doing them! The time there was exactly what we needed!

The peaceful retreat we needed

Our weekend trip to the sanctuary provided a relaxing few days that was exactly what we needed this time of year. The humble home provides a beautiful view from the central living space, and is tucked away into such a peaceful opening of the forest. There were more than enough amenities and supplies within the home to keep us comfortable - my favorite was the record player and collection. I would highly recommend a stay here! And we look forward to eventually coming back!

I had a wonderful time here. It is perfect for creatives who need to get out into nature and unplug. There is a real peace sitting on the deck with a notebook and having just the woods for company. Peaceful, well kept, and free of distractions!

What an adorable space! Meticulously curated with a comfortable vibe, without being pretentious. Everything was thought of, from treats upon our arrival, to an EpiPen for medical emergencies. Absolutely would recommend this gem!!!

10/10! The property looks just like the pictures! This place is beautiful and just as pictured and described. The check in process was easy, the host communicated very well and was available to assist with any questions I had. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots & pans, cutlery, cutting boards literally EVERYTHING you need to make a home cooked meal; you just bring the food. It was quiet and away from all worldly distraction. There were so many great books on the property, games, puzzles you really don’t have to leave for anything after you check in. We will be visiting again! I’m so grateful we found this place!

Wedding of our dreams

We went out on a limb and found this gorgeous property to get married at. With honesty and great communication with our host they allowed us to have a few extra guest to perform our wedding ceremony. We didn’t need anything big or fancy but the sanctuary in it’s simplicity is beautiful and fancy! Words can not describe how intimate and beautiful this place is. Their hard work is something to be admired. If you are looking for the perfect getaway with your significant other or just a peaceful get away this is the place to book! I know we will be returning as much as we can. My wife immediately gravitated towards the record player because of her love of music and we danced in the middle by the big windows that over look the pond. The deck became a relaxing lounge to listen to the birds and take in the fresh air while sipping on a few drinks. As we winded down for the evening a bubble bath in the gorgeous reconditioned ironed tub hit the spot for my wife as I sat and bird watched from the deck. ( there’s a whip-poor-will that comes out in the evening that likes to sing right into the kitchen window ) with out a doubt this is the best place for peace. Thank you again and we will return soon!

Peaceful stay in the woods!

My Wife and I took a long weekend up to the sandstone sanctuary, we appreciated having no TV and enjoying the peaceful sounds of the woods surrounding us with the occasional Frank Sinatra song on the bluetooth record player. The house was super cozy and had everything you need for cooking and most importantly relaxing. Justine was super friendly and made sure we knew she was only a phone call away! Loved this place and wish we could give a million stars! Will be visiting again!

peaceful

the home was exactly as described. would recommend and come back anytime. you can choose to unplug or use WIFI which worked well. the bathroom was very nice with the heated floors and clawfoot tub. the bedroom was nice with comfy sheets and a very firm mattress (if this is your taste). we also enjoyed the walking trail which was well marked. the home is very private and peaceful to sit out on the deck. my only issue and this is my preference is there are no blinds or curtains in the bedroom. the owner assured me they never had issues however its just something i prefer when i am sleeping and feel more comfortable. we brought items from home to make it work it would have been nice to have the option :)

Unplug in Luxury

This was our second stay of unplugged luxury at Sandstone Sanctuary. Having visited in the winter last time, we decided to see what warmer weather brings. Once again, we enjoyed streaming sunshine and beautiful views through the large glass windows and doors, while resting in the comfort of this retreat gem. The bed and clawfoot bathtub were luxurious - again! And, the kitchen was well-stocked and offered exactly what we needed to prepare fresh meals on the grill. We love our stays at Sandstone Sanctuary, and can't wait to visit again!

The best getaway in central PA!!!!

My wife and I spent a few nights at the sanctuary after our wedding, everything was perfect. The property is second to none. It is modern while also being very peaceful. The owners keep the sanctuary at the highest state of cleanliness. Additionally, the owners are amazing! They were great with communication, helpful, and even mailed us an item we had forgotten. Overall an absolute 10 out of 10!!!

Simple perfection

Wish we could have stayed longer! Simple, modern and very well thought out cabin in the forest. We loved waking up to the forest view, seeing and hearing all the wildlife, grilling dinner on the deck while listening to all the classic record albums, and the song of the whippoorwill who visited us every evening. Justine and Mike thought of everything and the luxurious little details made our stay that much better.

Ultimate Unplugged Luxury

Sandstone Sanctuary is THE place for both relaxation and rejuvenation! My partner and I were guests there for four days and three nights, and our stay did not disappoint. Our hosts, Justine and Mike, were incredibly responsive, personable, and kind, so we felt immediately "at home" before even arriving at the property! What an experience to go from the busyness of work and home life to feeling the warm sun on our faces while drinking in amazing views. The sunsets are not to be missed, as they painted the sky with a rainbow of shades just above the tips of the trees. Every kitchen vessel and tool we needed was right at our fingertips, so preparing meals was a breeze. The plush king-sized bed was so comfy and warm that we went back to bed most days after our morning hikes! And, we didn't miss the opportunity to soak in that beautiful, sparkling clawfoot tub (twice actually!). The design, decor, and furnishings enhanced the peaceful of the space, without being a distraction. And, the propane fireplace and bluetooth speaker were a definite plus! When we weren't listening for rustling leaves or chirping birds, we were grooving and gliding to our favorite tunes. Sandstone Sanctuary is a must-stay if you want to unplug in luxury. :)

Sublime peaceful getaway

From start to finish we enjoyed this vacation stay. 3 nights of quiet and peace in this zen sanctuary. Well named property. So much natural beauty all around us but also a highly curated comfortable cabin. Sheets/towels/claw-foot tub etc. all just right!! Stay here. Get some peace.

Luxurious oasis

I spent a week at this gem with my husband and can't express enough how restorative it was. Completely secluded, we napped in the hammock, cooked together in the well appointed kitchen, and relaxed with wine listening to the evening crickets or music from the curated record collection. And that claw foot tub and heated tile bathroom - chef's kiss!

Amazing retreat experience

I came to the area to drop my child off for a week of camp in the local community. Found the Sandstone Sanctuary and can't say enough good things about this place. After a week of being fully emerged in nature, I feel transformed. The cabin is impeccably clean, wonderfully designed, and appointed like a 5-star accommodation. The property was serene and breathtaking. I spent most of my time on the deck overlooking the pond. The trails were fantastic, and the state forest abutted the land, so there was plenty of wildlife. Would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return next year.

Secluded getaway

Beautiful property, very secluded and private. Great place to reset from the hustle and bustle. Perfectly designed and furnished to encourage you to unplug (but Wi-Fi is available). It is off the beaten path but close enough to State College if visiting Penn State.

Magical

A much needed retreat from the straw of work life and material and worldly "stuff". Did yoga, meditate, slept, read, drank wine on the deck and soaked in the amazing bath tub. Highly recommend!!!!

Better than expected !

This property is absolutely amazing, beautiful and clean. There is very thoughtful attention to details and noticeably the design of the home was very thought out. Loved the seclusion of the land and history surrounding it. There is a vey cute mom and pop country store not too far. Loved their sandwiches and baked goods! Owners very easy to communicate with and reachable. Would recommend and stay again. Thank you.
